detectives made the discovery around 6:15 last night. melissa is live with more. >> the body of doris lea cooke was found here at the country club apartment where she lived. the apartment is now being emptied. police a ride here at the apartment after receiving a call about the reported death. they were directed to the freezer. police say she was bedridden for several years and she had been in the freezer for several weeks. family members placed her inside the freezer. why they did it is still under investigation. we spoke to the grandson of the deceased about the discovery. >> i am praying to god that it was actually natural causes. i am not mine to make any more statements on that because it would be unreasonable for me.

she was a very great woman. >> the investigation was classified as a suspicious death. we are working to make a determination on what the manner of death is. it has not been determined. we do not want to speculate. >> no suspects and no one in custody. it is pivotal to determine the cause of death before they decide their next steps. wbal-tv 11 news. >> loved ones and fans by the thousands packed the coliseum in mississippi to say goodbye to steve mcnair. they gathered at the university of southern mississippi to honor the former quarterback. he was shot and killed a week ago today in nashville. several football players attended the service. vince young was in attendance.

another player shared a personal experience. >> the first time i met lucille, the first thing she said to me was, don't be hitting my baby like that. >> i am a father myself. >> others talked about mcnair's toughness on the field and his willingness to help those in need. >> the weather is changing a little bit today. it would be warmer of some of these clouds had not moved in. the clouds are associated with the cold front that is producing rain. you see on the satellite picture that it is partly cloudy skies over the moment since -- over the mountains. i will add the radar echoes and you can see some showers west of hagerstown.

a this evening could be a little unsettled with the chance of rain. we will detail what will happen for the rest of the weekend in a couple minutes. >> nearly one dozen people are without a home after a fire in baltimore county last night. it happened at a lantern hill apartment. flames were pouring from the roof of the three-story building. officials say the fire reached two alarms before they were able to gain control. no one was hurt. the red cross is dealing with trying to house the displaced residents. >> the red cross will continue to be there to help people after disasters like fires. we are really relying on assistance from our financial donors and volunteers to make that happen. >> the red cross is trying to find homes for 11 people. several people are in the

hospital after an accident this morning. a driver refused to stop. an officer said he was doing speed enforcement detail on the beltway near route 10 when the driver of a vehicle failed to yield. the driver crashed into another vehicle, causing a chain reaction. three people are being treated at shock trauma, including the driver, who police say suffered life-threatening injuries. police have identified the boy struck and killed while crossing the road less night. he is 12-year-old joseph hudson. the car struck him while he was crossing the street and then veered out of control. two people had to be rescued from their cars. the accident might have resulted from pedestrian error. as president obama continues his first trip to africa as president, at home there is

>> one family is now homeowners thanks to a group of teenagers. the compassion commission is made up of 200 teenagers from the east coast. they donated a home to an east baltimore family at a celebration today. hundreds of supporters and volunteers also give their time and energy and donations. they were on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. the new homeowner was in disbelief. >> i did not think it would happen, but it did. >> this was the seventh house the compassion commission program has donated in the past seven years. members of the baltimore city police department students took part in a mentoring program today. the police commissioner joined nearly 100 officers and students to continue their outward bound partnership. the program includes activities

today. a solid breezes. a cold front is approaching from the west. more clouds on the peninsula, especially over delaware. we have thin clouds overhead. that is filtering the effect of the clouds. it is holding temperatures down. most temperatures are in the 80's. a few sprinkles down to the south of the district of columbia. thunderstorms, hagerstown westward. not much activity on the radar right now. tonight we expect more activity. it will be scattered around the area. we could use rain. some of you will get it. the clouds held the temperatures down a bit. 82 the high at the airport. inner harbor, 85. no rain yet around here. 79 at annapolis. college park is 84.

frederick is 82. satellite pictures showing the clouds. a few of these little showers to the south of the district of columbia. here we are in baltimore. the storms are just to the west of hagerstown. they are limited. the big storms are in west virginia and out of the ohio river valley. that is the activity, that and the cold front coming in, that will increase our rain chances. strong storms in pennsylvania. it is all scattered right now. when the cold front comes through and settles, we should have some fairly quiet weather. the front does not get too far to the south. some of you might experience rain showers. by tuesday, we should get into dry air. overnight tonight, partly cloudy skies and a chance for scattered storm activity. some of it could be strong. 64-68 by daybreak.

tomorrow, partly cloudy, seasonably warm. to the south of us, there might be some lingering showers. it depends how far south of the front moves. if it is far north of baltimore, our chances are limited. 83-87 tomorrow. by sunday morning, a lingering shower to the south. our computer model wants to explore the activity along that front. how far north it gets is questionable. most of the day tomorrow of around baltimore should be all right. the further to the south you go, the better the chance of rain persisting into that day. monday looks dry. by evening, a shower might develop. tuesday, everything should start moving east. that should be a dry day. the rain chances are threatening but not all that great. tonight, showers and thunderstorms. mostly dry.

concerns about the state of our teenage resident. investigations by the team has released a list of offenses of the shooter. the latest incident came after he cut off the home detention anklet he was supposed to wear and a 5-year-old girl became the latest victim. the police chief lamented the lack of parental discipline in the lives of these teenagers who have rain the violence down on the city. state attorneys have commented that the state has an archaic system operating under the impression that everyone under 18 can be rehabilitated who are repeatedly committing crimes. there should be accountability and punishment. we agree with these sentiments. we must demand more of our judges and the juvenile justice system. the state system needs review and updates.

in addition, parents, grandparents, and extended family need to make a commitment to improving the lives of our city's youth. community centers are not enough. they need discipline and goal from the home. habitual offenders need to be held more accountable. the system and the family need to do more and ensure that our youth are on the right course rather than a path of violence.
