good evening, everybody. that issue got started just before 11:00 this morning at the intersection of edmonton and with more avenues on the city's west side. one officer was released from the hospital this afternoon. the second officer and the suspect remained at shot,. >> the suspect and the officer are in stable condition and recovering your hr,. that officer is a 17-year veteran of the police force, and today he was involved in a shootout in broad daylight. it ended in a gunbattle on the west side that left to baltimore police officers wounded. >> i heard the shot, and i looked up and looked around. you see people running. >> it started in the northeast part of the city. officers responded to a domestic violence this be on lake ave. the suspect was gone by the time the officers arrived. police say he moved to west

baltimore and was allegedly involved in another domestic violence call. while the officer was talking to the victim, the suspect, a 34- year-old man, came back and fired at the officer, striking him in that back -- in the back. another officer heard the call and pulled up behind the suv. police said the suspect was out of his car and fired several shots through the driver's side window of the police car, hitting the officer in the chest, stomach, an arm. >> our officer was able to get out on the passenger side of the car and engage the suspect and a gun battle. he incapacity the suspect reducing incapacitated the suspect. >> he was shot in the leg and arm, but witnesses say there was more that happen. the commissioner said he had no information on it and would not comment other than to say this.

>> this was a man who assaulted at least two innocent women today. i have very few apologies to make about his condition or the outcome of this incident. >> he says he stands by his officers and their actions to protect innocent people by being hurt by the suspect. to him, those officers are heroes. >> after being wounded in the seat of that car, to pull himself out and engage the suspect in a gun battle, i think it says a lot about the men and women of this police department. i am damn proud of their work. >> police said the suspect will be charged upon his release from the hospital. demetric injured -- the mayor visited the injured officer and his family in hospital. she talked about her initiative to try keep her guns redo to try and keep guns away.

>> we have been trying to get all our partners to understand what we need to do here in the city and state to close the loopholes on so many of our gun laws. this is a prime example. >> the mayor says this crime be on the agenda at the next criminal-justice board meeting. tonight members of baltimore's liberian community gathered to say goodbye to a friend. a well respected community leader was shot and killed back in may. officials say it was a botched robbery. two men attacked him as he locked up in northeast baltimore social club. police have not made an arrest in the case. family members say his body will be sent back to africa for burial. friends and customers gathered to remember 57-year-old mr.

>> california transportation officials say an accident happened around 3:00 this afternoon when one train rear ended the other. no serious injuries have been reported. trippet a suspect connected to six murders across to the that we need to southern states is in police custody. the bodies were found in alabama and tennessee this morning. investigators say he gave up information that led to one of the body's in huntsville, alabama. authorities say there were two additional crime scenes in fayetteville, tenn.. five people were found dead in two separate homes there. investigators say some of the victims were related. >> we are probably going to be here all night. it may possibly be tomorrow sometime before can actually give you a identification of the victims. >> police have not release names

baltimore's department of public works has blamed today's water main break on aging infrastructure. has caused a rash of ruptures lately. it is the second break in three months. the 6 inch main rupture, flooding three homes. service has been restored, though more repairs may be necessary. you can also blame aging infrastructure for mandatory water restrictions that are in place tonight. repair work continues on a 53 inch water main. it affects about 100,000 residents in baltimore county. it means no watering lawns or washing cars, and restaurants are prohibited from serving water unless requested. residence south of the restricted area may experience low water pressure. clear skies, light winds, and dry air of allowing the

temperatures to drop right now. there were some spotty and scattered showers in the mountains to the northwest, which is now dissipating. there is not much there to trigger any significant rain. the readings now are beginning to fall into the 60's. on the boardwalk at ocean city is 72. at the airport officially is 67 degrees and 73 downtown at the inner harbor. 54 at oakland. this is a sign of where we are heading. with the dry conditions and light winds, and temperatures will bottom out tomorrow morning. in suburban areas of to the west and northwest, you could see some upper 50's for the early morning lows. here are the clear skies we have right now. here is the front off shore, which is more or less going to stall. it will interact on monday or

tuesday with an upper air system over the great lakes in canada. the combination of those two things may increase the chance of rain as we get into the work week next week. there is not much going on right now. this is a fair weather pattern for tomorrow. as we get deeper into the week, we see this weather pattern, the jet stream lined up, taking a big nose dive into the east. it tends to be dryer right now, but it could introduce enough of a weather disturbance coming out of this to increase the range chance. all the hot summer like conditions have been pushed to the southwest, where they have had temperatures in the 100's. in amounts it will be cooler. like northwest to west wind, a very nice overnight situation. leave the windows open. partly cloudy skies and pleasant tomorrow. low humidity, nicer than today.

southeast winds at 4-8 miles an hour. a lot of sunshine and a few scattered showers popping up. the open waters of the bay, the water temperatures have warmed into the upper 70's. if you are going to be down at the ocean, a lot of clouds tomorrow. it looks like it should be a dry day with great -- with 82 for our high. the futurecast shows a dry conditions tomorrow. it looks like the rain chances are minimal. on monday we begin to see a little more moisture coming our way from the south. that is when we start introducing a brain chance that will be with us off and on all week long -- a rain chance. a little cooler on monday. by the end of the day, the rain
