[captioning made possible by constellation energy group] >> we begin tonight with breaking news in east baltimore. police are on the scene of a homicide. it happened just before 10:00 on ken wood avenue and madson street. police confirm one man was shot in the head. he is dead. another man was shot in the leg. no word on a motive or suspect. we will bring you more information as it becomes available. lots of concerned residents tonight after a carbon monoxide scare at their apartment complex. these people are no strangers to scares like this one. they live in the dutch village community in northeast baltimore. michael kim is live in the douche dick casey is life. >> nine people were taken to

the hospital for carbon monoxide poisoning. none of them were seriously injured, but this isn't the first time this has happened in a complex owned by sawyer realty. >> nine people lived in a town home in dutch village on baltimore's northeast side were taken to the hospital. the cause? firefighters say carbon monoxide poisoning from a faulty water heater. two women and children as young as 18 months were sickened. >> scary. making me want to move, seriously. >> rosalie martin lives two doors down and says firefighters found unhealthy levels of the deadly gas in her house. in her neighbor's house they found 400 parts per mill in the air. still, crews tore auto her water heater and replaced it with a new one.

residents. they went on to say we are aware of several carbon monoxide incidents at several of our apartments in the past months and we are working diligently to address issues. reporting life in northeast baltimore, kim daisy. >> we have noah details of a man accused of shooting at police. baltimore police have released the names of the two officers who were wounded, and they have revealed the identity of the suspect. the suspect, seen here at the scene, has been identified as 34-year-old shawn sinclair, a city man police say terrorized two women and fired shots in two baltimore city neighborhoods on satisfy. fred bealefeld called sinclair a maniac and a coward. >> to assault the women is cowardice. to be running around the

streets of baltimore, he established himself as a menace and then backed it up with his cowardly acts on the scene. >> police say shawn sinclair started the day with gunshots in northeast baltimore and then brought her weapon here in wealth baltimore, drawing a 9-1-1 domestic violence call and ambushing the officers who responded. >> as the officer walked up to the explorer, the suspect opened fire with a semiautomatic ruger 9 mm handgun. after wounding officer curtis mcmillion, sinclair drove off and kept shooting, hitting jerome shaurette several times. >> if our men weren't there to stop this maniac, who knows what he would have done to innocent people on the street. a search online shows shawn sinclair has extensive arrest records for drug dealing, as well as a domestic high

release of a video showing a soldier captured in afghanistan. it shows this private first class in traditional afghan dress. he is being prompted in english to call for u.s. military to withdraw from afghanistan. the idaho soldier has been missing since late june. >> we are doing everything we can to return this soldier to safety. we condemn the use of this video and the public humiliation of prisoners. it is against international law. >> the u.s. military says the captors are demanding that the search stops and that the u.s. goes home. a spokesman for the military says that won't happen. >> in tonight's medical alert, time is running out for the president's health reform effort. he wants it done before lawmakers go on vacation before august.

republicans are saying it is going to fall apart. brian has the story from washington. >> the ad characterers who helped kill president clinton's health care reform plan are back. this time harry and louise are helping obama. >> a little more cooperation, a little less politics, and we can get it done this time. >> but they say the president's got the wrong prescription. >> the care is not going to be there, and the results aren't going to be there. >> the health care reform battle is heating up on tv and the internet as the fight comes down to the wire on capitol hill with the deadline looming. >> the president knows can't sell it if the debate lasts so long because it is so expensive and costly. >> what we hope to do is to have enough time for people to

truly understand what is going on. >> the congressional budget office said that health care reform might not contain costs, even after spending $1 trillion. the white house is playing that down. >> they have an initial report on one of the bills saying in long term this doesn't bend the cost curve enough. >> people are making a judgment about who is going to win the marathon at mile 19. not a good thing. >> still, not good news for a president hoping to fast track relate care reform. the biggest road block seems to be infighting, as democrats try to turn five plans into one that will work. >> some believe that howard county's health care plan could serve as a model to the nation. it stresses prevention. experience have called it inexpensive and effective. the county executive talked about its success this morning on 11 news today. >> we had a flood of people who came to us for healthy howard, and we realized about 2,500 of

>> charges tonight for the tennessee man accused of willing his wife and two others. he is charged with five counts of criminal homicide in tennessee and a sixth count in alabama. investigators discovered five bodies in two homes in tennessee yesterday. authorities say he was sitting on the front porch of one of those homes when they arrived. they say a sixth body was discovered in huntsville, alabama, and is connected to that crime. we are learning more tonight about saturday's light rail crash in san francisco, california. federal investigators say the

driver switched to manual before he should have. dozens of passengers were injured. an investigator say the train crashed into another train parked at the sation 24 seconds after the operator made the switch to manual. investigators haven't interviewed the operate error yet. there could soon be a baths room line in space. one of two toilets on the international space station is out of order. it is flooded. the commode began malfunctioning this morning. >> we don't yet know the extent of the problem. we are still in the data collection mode. it may turn out to be of no consequence at all. it could turn out to be significant. it is too early to tell right now. >> there is another john on the shuttle endeavour, but there are 13 astronauts between the two crafts. it is the largest number of people ever gathered together in space.

a beautiful weekend now wrapping up. now we have to get back to business in the weather world, and that is going to be cloud cover and rain. a future the showers well down to the south. not worried about that tonight. we are going to see some of those rain showers try to move in tomorrow. tuesday looks to be the best bet for rain showers. we do need the rain. july has been comfortable but dry. we might as well have it during the work week. 76 in downtown baltimore. 68 at the airport. 70 in easton. 70 in cumberland and 75 in ocean city. we broke a record low early this morning at the airport. 57 degrees our new record low. that beats the previous record of 59 set back in 1962. the low humidity levels allowed the temperatures to drop off quickly. not needing the air conditioner a lot. that will start to change though. a few clouds off to the south.

you see this one line here. that is a stationary front parked off the coastline and that's going to be become a problem and our major weather maker for the work week. that front hugs the coast, and we are going to see increasing clouds on monday. that front is actually going to realign itself closer to the coastline. where it actually parks itself is going to have a bigic pact on how much rain we see during the week. none of the days we have in the seven-day are going to be wash-outs. each day is going to have a risk of a pop-up shower. we are looking for plenty of cloud cover tuesday, wednesday, thursday, through next weekend. here is our futurecast showing those clouds arriving by monday afternoon. rain holding to the south. it will start to arrive in southern maryland late monday. into tuesday we see more widespread showers moving through. that is when we are expecting the betts shot for rain.

for your monday forecast, it is partly sunday, the rain arriving late. 79-85 degrees with the winds out of the east. we start off with a little sunshine. on the bay, winds northeast 8-10 knots the waves a foot or left and water temperatures in the upper 70's. if you heading to the shore this week, 70 degrees with increasing clouds. you'll get the morning on the beach, and then the chance for showers develops late in the afternoon. rip currents on the moderate side. you have to be careful heading into the water. looking for that chance of rain late, we start off try with temperatures in the 80's and upper 70's. we are continuing this relatively cool trend for july. the seven-day forecast looks a lot worse here than it really is. none of these days are wash-outs, but each day running a 20% to 30% risk of pop-up

15th stage and posting a commanding one and a half minute overall lead. finally tonight. the celebrity golf championship wraps up in lake tahoe. it was our first chash. now he is using one arm, and it doesn't doesn't work. barkley may be the worst golfer on the planet. he finished dead last again. troim tried to qualify for the u.s. open, but he didn't make it. he finished second behind jim rhoden. apparently golf is in the genes 6 quarterbacks. chris chandler, pretty good player, finished 21st. that is not good enough for his standards because he decides he doesn't want the pursuiter any more. if i did that every time i hit a bad putt, we would have an aluminum shortage in this country.
