so we've been really pleasant. 60, 65. cloudy. the best shot of rain tomorrow. i'll tell you why that's the case in your full weather. right now let's find out what's happening with sarah and traffic. >> good morning. not a whole lot happening. just dealing with a downed tree in pikesville. otherwise, though, as we check our speed sensors around the area, all of them up to speed. not dealing with any delays yet. as far as volume goes on the light side. let's check drive times. 45 minutes on southbound 95 from the 895 split to the ft. mchenry tolls. 11 minutes on outer loop north side. let's check the area of 95 at 895. we have that new traffic pattern. if you travel southbound 95 coming to the 895 split, you're going to be exiting to the right for 895 instead of to the left. that began yesterday morning so far flowing pretty well through that area. just watch for those signs this morning. as far as what's happening in green spring, not a whole lot. it is problem-free toward the

j.f.x. that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. back to you. >> thank you. our big story, lots of concerned residents after a carbon monoxide scare. >> and they are no stranger to scares like this one. 11 news reporter jennifer franciotti is live at the dutch village apartments with the story. good morning, jen. >> good morning. of the nine people transported yesterday evening, two were adult women and seven were children, including one as young as 18 months old. according to baltimore city fire officials, the cause seems to be a faulty water heater. high levels of carbon monoxide were found inside the town house. 400 parts per million in the air. just two doors down high levels were also discovered. not dangerous enough for an evacuation, but crews replaced the water heater as a precaution. neighbors say this isn't the first time something like this has happened. just last month three patrons suffered carbon monoxide poisoning and even more got sick at the complex in essex owned by the same company as dutch

village, sawye r sawyer reaty. >> do something about it. somebody die before they do something about it? >> cording to baltimore city -- according to baltimore city fire officials there was a detector inside the town house but they say it wasn't working. >> baltimore city fire crews are trying to figure out what started a fire that sent one of the men and two civilians to the hospital. it started just after 9:00 last night. authorities say the two men were found on the third floor of the home. both were rushed to the university of maryland medical center. there's no word on their condition this morning. a firefighter was treated at the burn center. crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby homes. police are looking for the person responsible for a double shooting. one of those victims died. it happened just before 10:00 last night on kenwood avenue in east baltimore. the second victim was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.

no word on a motive. >> new details in the case of a man accused of shooting at police in west baltimore. the shoot-out unfolded saturday morning. baltimore police released the niams of the two officers who were wounded and revealed the identity of the suspect. 11 news reporter kate amara has details. >> the suspect seen here at the scene has been identified as 34-year-old shawn sinclair, a city man police say terrorized two women and fired shots in two baltimore city neighborhoods on saturday. commissioner fred bealefeld called sinclair a maniac and a coward. >> to assault the women is cowardice. to be running around the streets of baltimore, he established himself as a menace. and then backed it up with his cowardly acts on the scene. >> police say shawn sinclair started the day with gun shots in northeast baltimore and then brought his weapon here in west baltimore, drawing a 911

domestic violence call and then ambushing the officers who responded. >> as the officer walked up to the explorer, the suspect opened fire with a semiautomatic .9-millimeter handgun. >> after wounding 42-year-old officer curtis mcmillion, police say sinclair drove off and kept on shooting, hoyting 44-year-old officer jerome shaurette several times. >> if our men weren't there to stop this maniac who knows what he would have done to innocent people on the street. >> a search of online records shows shawn sinclair has an extensive arrest record with convictions for drug dealing and possession, as well as a domestic violence history which law enforcement sources say involves both women from saturday. one woman had a peace order issued against sinclair last month. kate amara, wbal-tv 11 news. >> officer mcmillion was treated and released on saturday. officer shaurette is still recovering at shock trauma.

shawn sinclair is also at the hospital, under police guard. he is expected to recover. and when he does officials say he will go straight into police custody and be charged with attempted murder. we're learning more about james von brunn's past. the 89-year-old white supremacist is accused of killing a security guard at the u.s. holocaust memorial museum in d.c. von brunn spent most of 2005 in jefferson city, missouri, where he tried unsuccessfully to sell his oil paintings. he apparently ranted about his hatred of jews and blacks. a gallery owner says she would cut off their conversations when von brunn would begin his hate talk about minorities and holocaust victims. >> the parents of a u.s. soldier held hostage in afghanistan say they are praying for their son's safe return. the family ofbergberg in idaho -- of bowe bergdahl in idaho released a statement. 11 news reporter brook hart is in washington with the latest. >> 23-year-old bowe bergdahl

appears in the hostage tape head shaven, no uniform, and sounding distressed. >> i am scared. scared i won't be able to go home. >> his taliban captors repeatedly prompt him in english. "miss them" one says about his family in idaho. >> i miss them every day that i'm gone. i miss them. i'm afraid that i might not ever see them again. >> family friends are worried, too. >> as long as he's alive, of course, there's hope. so that's what we're holding out for, that he will be released. >> please bring us home. >> in the video bergdahl tells americans the pressure president obama to bring u.s. troops home from afghanistan. the u.s. military condemns the video and rejected the plea. >> we're here to support the afghan government. >> the top senate republican says he backs the war plan. >> happy to say something nice about him here, something

it the fourth record low so far this year. 64 over in easton. 76 in ocean city. here's a look at those interesting statistics from yesterday. 81 was the high. we should be 88. a good seven degrees below normal. no precipitation. so for the month of july we are below normal. but we have a chance each and every day this week of at least getting some afternoon shower activity. here's what it looks like today in the mountains of western maryland. better chance of showers and storms at 75. and the higher elevations. zooming on into central maryland. in baltimore a high of 82 degrees. basically just partly sunny to a mix of sun and clouds with more cloud cover by the afternoon and evening for sure. then on the beaches, mostly cloudy. 80, the forecast high with a slight chance at about 20% of a passing shower. on the bay today, water temperatures in the i hoper 70's. not too far off the air temperatures. near 80 today. winds out of the northeast at eight to 10 knots. 102 record high, july 20, 1930.

and in contrast, you go way back to 1890 to find the record low of 58. we should be 66 overnight. it looks like for tonight most of our outlying suburbs will be at about 60. we'll say 64, 65. in the downtown areas with clouds around and the 40% chance of some showers. high pressure will keep most of the rain away today. it's to our north. it will be moving offshore. the stationary front and low pressure area is bringing in moisture with an easterly flow. it's an upper level low that will be setting up shop over the great lakes tomorrow that will keep us unsettled. how much so? we have a chance of showers and storms each and every day through sunday it looks like a good shot tomorrow about a 60% coverage. then a slight chance of showers at about 20% to 30% the rest of the week. temperatures in the low 80's through midweek. then we surge back up into the mid 80's thursday through sunday. that's it from here. jar? >> traffic's looking pretty good. aside from a downed tree in the pikesville region, if you travel

the state's attorney says some teenagers aren't capable of being rehabilitated and that community programs and short detentions are not helping. mayor dixon adds the process needs to be changed at all levels as more young people become involved in violent crime. their comments follow the case of a 17-year-old baltimore boy accused of shooting and critically wounding a 5-year-old girl. >> charges have been filed in connection with the murder of former ravens quarterback steve mcnair. agents say 33-year-old adrian gilliam jr. confessed to selling mcnair's mistress the pistol used to kill him. there's no indication gilliam knew how sahel kazemi inhended to use the weapon. gilliam was charged with possession of a fire arm by a convicted felon which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison or a $250,000 fine. he was convicted of murder and attempted robbery. >> friends and family gather to remember joon am kang, shot and killed in an attempted robbery

inside his store in firl ton thursday night doctor fullerton thursday night. customers remember him as a generous man who was willing to give anyone a break. >> in this morning's "consumer alert," market house in annapolis has re-opened with new vendors. after struggling with lawsuits and high vacancy rates, the waterfront site opens its stores this weekend with new offerings. the new tenants signed on until early next year when renovations begin on the site. the annapolis market dates back to the 19th century. the growing deficit means there's a growing chance you will be audited. your chances of being audit have had gone up from 1-202 to 1-99. that's because the i.r.s. believes it doesn't collect about $345 billion in taxes each year. so it's sending more soft

>> morton says high levels of the gas were also detected in her house but not as high as her neighbor's. crews replaced the water heater in morton's home as a precaution. but she says this isn't first time something like this has happened. three people from dutch village were taken to the hospital last month and more from the village in essex, owned by the same company. >> do something about it. i really do. because of what it's going to take. for somebody to die before they do something about it? >> according to baltimore city fire officials there was a carbon monoxide detector inside the house but it wasn't working. reporting live, jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> new details in the case of a man ambushing two baltimore city police officers. the gunfire erupted in west baltimore.

police say shawn sinclair started the day terrorizing two women in northeast baltimore. he then allegedly brought his weapons to west baltimore where police got a call for domestic violence. that's when he ambushed the officers. >> it's cowardice. to be running around the streets of baltimore, he established himself as a menace. and then backed it up with his cowardly acts on the scene. >> the officers are identified as 42-year-old curtis mcmillion and 44-year-old jerome shaurette. officer mcmillion was released saturday. officer shawr sethe still recover -- shaurette is still recovering at shock trauma. sinclair is expected to recover. when he does, officials say he'll be charged with attempted murder. ♪ >> over the weekend family and friends sang, prayed and marched, calling for an end to

violence in baltimore city. the 60-year-old club owner was shot to death on may 31 at his york road social club. police say he was cleaning up when a pair of armed robbers demanded money. detectives say the killers shot him to death but did not gait with a with any money. -- get away with any money. >> violence must stop. no violence is the way forward. so as the people having assembled, we commit this time to god that he will lead us in this process. >> family and friends raised just enough money to send his body back to liberia for burial. his killers have not been caught. >> a similar story where friends and customers gathered to remember 57-year-old liquor store owner joon am kang. he was shot and killed in an attempted robbery inside his store in fullerton thursday night. according to police nothing was stolen from the store.

but friends tell a different story. >> i've read all the articles i could find. and every article said that they weren't sure if anything was stolen. but those articles are wrong. what they stole was something from all of us here. they stole something from the community. they stole something from his employees, his friends, and his family. >> mr. kang opened the store 15 years ago. customers remember him as a generous man who was willing to give anyone a break. >> speed cameras are expected to be up and running in baltimore city and other places by october. they're already in montgomery county zapping photos of drivers who break the law. but some people aren't worried about getting caught. david collins explains why. >> you may not feel this way but some maryland residents are begging for speed cameras in their neighborhood while others found a way around them.

joel is pleading with the county continue to stall a speed camera near his home. he claims few motorists obey the 25 mile-an-hour speed limit. the sheriff's department puts their trailer out. i've seen speeds as high as 60. >> he believes speed cameras will slow drivers down. so you might wonder how he and police feel about this. >> alert. >> it's a warning system. designed to alert drivers when approaching a red light or speed camera. this salesman installed it he says he's fighting technology with technology and avoiding a bunch of costly tickets. tonight at 11, it's a warning -- is that warning system legal? does it work? you may be surprised at the answer. for the i-team, i'm david collins. >> at artscape, a huge crowd danced with robin thicke.

you love your new jetta. and the suit? you like it? no...i love it! >> following breaking news. howard county fire officials are on the scene of a carbon mow knoxize leak -- monoxide leak on twin rivers road in columbia. we are told a family of five was awakened by a carbon monoxide detector this morning. fire officials say three of the family members were taken to the hospital for evaluation. fire crews remain on the scene, trying to pinpoint the source of the leak. >> in the headlines this morning, police are looking for the person responsible for a double shooting. one of those victims died. it happened just before 10:00 last night on kenwood avenue and east madison street in east baltimore.

the second victim was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. >> federal charges have been filed in connection with the murder of former ravens quarterback steve mcnair. agents say adrian gilliam jr. confessed to selling steve mcnair's mistress the loaded pistol used to kill him. there's no indication gilliam knew how kazemi intended to use weapon. gilliam was charged with a possible 10 years in prison or a $250,000 fine in 1993 he was convicted of murder and attempted robbery. known as the most trusted man in america, walter cronkite passed away friday afternoon. cronkite anchored "cbs evening news" from 1962 to 1981 covering stories that ranged from president kennedy's assassination to the race to the moon. he died from cerebral vascular disease, surrounded by family in his han mattian home. h-- manhattan

later this afternoon and tonight. inet meantime, temperature range anywhere from 57, coolest location in york, pennsylvania, to 71 downtown baltimore. mid 60's in general on the eastern shore. and that's milder than yesterday when we set a record low of 67 degrees. this marks the fourth record low so far this year so it's definitely been an interesting weather year. all of that rain in the spring. we've been dry for july. we had also been cooler than normal. it looks like we had a better shot of seeing much needed rain for this month later this week. let's head to the mountains of western maryland, a high of 75 in the upper elevations. slight chance of a thunderstorm out there. in central maryland, the slightest chance about 20% chance air late-day shower. a mix of sun and clouds across the state. as far as ocean city, a few more clouds because it's closer to that boundary where the showers are circulating this morning. the high a pretty cool 80 when you consider july 20 is the

calendar date. winds out of the northeast. waves a foot or less. water temperatures not too far from our forecast high today of 80. they're in the upper 70's. 102. that's the kind of potential we have this time of the year as the record for this date set back in 1930. and on july 20, 1890, way back in the record books, a 58-degree record low was set. 66 is where we should be. it looks like the only areas that will be close to that will be downtown and near the bay. 60 for our outlying suburbs. it looks like a 40% chance of showers. high pressure, basically going to keep all of this precipitation away from us. we're still going to be dealing with a stationary front and areas of low pressure. more importantly, an upper level low will develop over the great lakes, circulate little disturbances. so a very good chance of a 60% coverage of showers and storms. the next seven days a slight chance of mainly afternoon showers and storms. a few more clouds this week than

we've seen lately. >> thank you. this morning, nine people are recovering including more than a half dozen children after another carbon monoxide leak at the dutch village apartments. jennifer franciotti joins us live from there with more. >> this did all take place sunday evening. it's so dangerous because you don't know you're in trouble until it's nearly too late. baltimore city fire officials believe the cause o was a faulty water heater this did happen in dutch village. nine people were sent to area shopts hospital. one side fire officials found 400 parts per million in the air of carbon monoxide. two doors down high levels were also detected but not dangerous enough for an evacuation. crews did decree place a water -- replace a water heater there. just last month three residents suffered carbon monoxide
