heat creeps back into the forecast and more on all that coming up. right now let's check out our friday morning commute. >> good morning, everyone. we are still dealing with that water mean break in the city. the watermain break is fixed but westbound northern parkway between roland and falls road consider an alternate. going to cause problems as we go through the morning rush and eastbound north 100 at 295 a report of an accident. a live look outside. hartford road you can see very little traffic out there. 95 and the white marsh area, usually one of our hot spots of the morning but right now checking out ok. stan and mindy? >> our big story an investigation into a stolen car turns into a deadly accident. >> the tragic scene took place

yesterday in baltimore. jennifer franciotti live with the details. >> good morning. police say the suspect was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit a nissan causing it to flip over several times killing the woman inside. the alleged carjacker was spotted near mlk and mulberry. police originally called off the pursuit and then the car collided with a a nissan and was knocked more than 50 feet from the intersection. >> flipped several times then smashed up against the wall. sounded horrible. just a big crash. just like that. i mean, i didn't even get a chance to blink my eyes. >> it was real loud, like a boom! loud. >> the suspect was taken to shock trauma with only minor injuries and right now the name of the victim and suspect are not being released.

jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> all right, jen, thank you. a 7-year-old is recovering this morning after being struck by a vehicle in baltimore county. it happened at the intersection of ray abdomen and j.d. avenue in dun do have. officials have not released the name of the child. >> police are still searching for the suspects in responsible for shooting and killing the liquor store owner and police received some tips but no arrests have been made. they are looking for two african-american males connected to the murder. the friend of the murdered continues to work at the store and hopes someone 4 will come forward. with information. >> friends, families, wives, sons, suffer. you know, you couldn't imagine what kind of anguish a lot of people have gone through and any information to the police would be appreciated.

end of this year and the gipping of the next. >> and waiting for the security that comes with jobs. >> analysts will look inside today's jobs report for details like the number of hoursal worked and temp workers hired. they'll indicate how busy companies are and how much work they might need in the coming months. >> maryland is set to receive about $4 billion from the president eets economic stimulus package and although it's expected to create more than 2,000 jobs the number of new unemployment claims is much greater standing at 5,023. officials say $365 million went to state highway projects and so far only $468,000 has been disbursed to the programs. education and medicaid are each expected to receive over $1 billion but so far have only seen a couple hundred thousands. a professor at johns hopkins

>> welcome back to 11 news today, it is 68 degrees downtown. it feels so much better because dew points have dropped and it's only about 60 at the airport. check out that nice, dry channel of air over the mid-atlantic and over the state of maryland. mostly sunny skies today and high of 84 degrees. what a way to wrap up the workweek. more on your weekend ahead. >> and town hall meeting turned into a riot.

florida state representative betty reed and another held a meeting to discuss the proposal when a crowd of almost 300 people disrupted the forum. police had to be called in. they barricaded the doors and at least one person was attacked. after the disruption it is meeting was canceled. >> a woman who claimed to be connecticut's nurse of the year has been arrested for not even having a nursing license. betty liechtenstein had been working as a nurse in the doctor's office after a patient complained about her afterwards authorities realized she wasn't even a nurse. she organized a dinner spending $2,000 of her own money paying for a dinner recognizing her as a connecticut nurse of the year for an organization that didn't even exist.

part of the weekend though we will see a warm front change things by the second half of the weekend. nice in the mountains of western maryland. plenty of sun and blue skies prevailing here in baltimore as well. looks like 84 out at the airport. beautiful conditions and plenty of sun down on the beaches. high u.v.. 81 the high forecasted at ocean city. and out of the west at 10 knots. waves a foot and water temperatures in the low 80's. almanac 105 set in 1918 as the high and a 3 in 2004. 53 in 2004 for the low. winds shifting to the south west from the northwest today under partly cloudy skies , so high pressure really dominating today. it's going to stablize things

and we're going to see a front lift to the north by sunday bringing in the heat and humidity for the second half of your weekend. near normal 89 the forecasted high with a slight chance of an evening thunderstorm tomorrow. but sunday a strong ridge of high pressure that's not going to encompass the mid-atlantic but the entire region so looks on monday we're going to be 96, could be one of the hottest days of the year and a combination of a dew point and heat and humidity looks like we could have some heat advisory issues. so be aware of those two days, then we'll stay up to normal conditions for the rest of the week. >> in this morning's consumer alert researchers believe the drop in homeownership is likely to continue. the percentage of homeownership peaked in 2005 but june marked the end of the second quarter of this year and the census

bureau reported homeownership slipped to 74 .6% and it's projected the number will drop to 63.5% since 2020 the lowest homeownership rate since 1985. government figures show more than 34 million americans were receiving food stamp ins may and it reach ad record 34.4 million that's one in nine americans. may is the latest month for which a record was available. and the department of homeland security says new visas are available and now marylanders are scrambling to get a cut. hotels and restaurants and other seasonal businesses were stalled at the start of the season because they didn't have enough workers. >> investors are waiting for that all-important jobs report

due out today. michelle joins us with the rest of the day's business news. happy friday to you michelle. >> hey, stan, happy friday to you too. it's all about that four-letter word today, j-o-b-s. investors appear to be in a holding pattern. really not much activity for stock futures right now. pretty flat. the unemployment rate comes out at 8:30 about an hour before the opening bell. the prediction is enters cut fewer jobs in july than the month before. 325,000 in july compared to 467,000 jobs cut in june. this is according to economists surveyed by bloomberg still the slowdown in job cuts will not be helping the unemployment rate much showing the unemployment climbing to 9.6% that's a 26-year high. slight pullbacks for stocks ahead of today's report and here's a way to get that
