>> good evening. we are learning more about the victims killed in a plane crash in carroll county. the plane took off from keymar airport at 7:30 this morning and crashed a short time later. kim dacey is in west chester wrote with the latest. >> the owner of the airpark is calling the crash a terrible tragedy. not only did the world to lose an incredibly experienced pilot, but he lost a friend. >> he took off and everything seemed normal. >> saturday was anything but normal. the owner of keymar airpark got a visit from police telling him that the plane that he heard had crashed just minutes after takeoff in a field a quarter mile from the airport. >> our troopers found this crashed. two people were on board.

medical examiners pronounced them dead. >> i saw my friend. >> the victims, robert kociemba and his friend, letty williams of edgewater. he knew him well. he flew his two-seater sports plane out of his park several times a week. >> huet is a fighter pilot in vietnam. he served his country honorably. >> the federal aviation commission was on seen all afternoon. witnesses say that it sounded like the engine went out and it looked like he tried to turn back towards the airport when he crashed. faa officials moved the wreckage into a hangar to continue their investigation into what went wrong and why a ballistic parachute did not deploy. he will ponder that and many more questions as you ponders or questions. >> he always had time to stop

and talk to my wife or children. he will be greatly missed. >> there is no indication about when federal investigators will have answers. >> investigators in new york have temporary called off the search for survivors in that of the mid-air collision. nine people were killed when a chopper collided with a small plane over the hudson river. >> divers searched for the remaining dictums below the murky waters of the hudson river until nightfall. nine people died when a sightseeing helicopter and single-engine aircraft collided in midair at midday. the ntsb is in charge of the investigation. officials have only located the helicopter wreckage. >> they are using side scanning sonar to locate the airplane. >> the victims on board the helicopter. on board, the pilot and two

passengers including a child. soon after the crash, officials say that it was clear that nobody could have survived. >> this has changed to a recovery mission. >> flying conditions were nearly ideal. the helicopter took off from the manhattan heliport. the small plane that departed new jersey. it appeared that the plane clipped the helicopter's tail. >> it was completely submerged. and there was nothing else. >> the pilot of another helicopter refueling at the heliport tried to warn his colleagues. >> and he warned them. you have a fixed wing behind you. there was no response from the pilot. >> the planes were flying below 1,000 feet. pilots are not required to maintain radio contact.

use the computer in the squad car to run an official background check on the commander in chief. it set an alert to the secret service, who contacted officials in philadelphia. the officer is still on the job, but could face disciplinary action. in tonight's consumer alert, more job cuts are on the way for delta air lines. the weak economy has caused a drop in demand for air travel, costing the company billions of dollars. the company cut more jobs and capacity on its flights. this comes after delta announced the loss of $257 million for the second quarter. the company did not say how many positions would be cut or when. >> now your 11 insta-weather + forecast. >> as far as comfortable weather is concerned, today is going to be the better day of the two for

the weekend. we are looking for lots of heat and humidity to move in. if you like rain showers are pushing into portions of maryland and showing up in downtown baltimore. not a lot of that is reaching the ground. it is evaporated in the air and that is leading to high humidity levels. plenty of heat and humidity across the southwest. a stiff wind is going to be bringing in more heat and humidity. we are at 79 degrees in downtown baltimore. 73 and cumberland. we are still sitting at 81 degrees in ocean city. we are dealing with a lot of cloud cover. that will prevent a lot of temperatures from dropping off significantly. we talked offut 83 at bwi. we are going to be well above average for the next few days.
