issued a code red heat over. we're joined by jim nichols. you said it was coming. >> we have the heat and humidity. we are now getting the thunderstorms to go with it. most of the area is under a severe thunderstorm watch. that means we need to watch out for the potential for a severe storms. we have a good chance of seeing some of these storms producing wins over 50 miles per hour in some places. we are watching a storm that is pushing its way through southern pennsylvania. this county is now under a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:15 p.m. tonight. that storm is imminent for cecil county. you want to get inside and stay inside until these storms rolled through. they do have a history of producing gusty winds. they are also moving very fast. we will continue to watch these

storms over the next few hours. they will quit the northern portion of the greater baltimore area. we will have more on the storms. the heat and humidity are the big stories. for the latest on keeping cool, we had outside to kim cdacey. the baltimore health department has declared today, tamara, and two-state as red alert days. they have opened up cooling centers that offer a retreat from the hot weather. the air-conditioning, water, and ice. anyone without air conditioning is encouraged to visit these centers during the heat of the day. the health department and the m ca are getting it easier to get to the centers. >> we are providing bus passes that will be good for code red heat alert days. people can use the bus pass to get to a cooling center. we have six cooling centers at

the community action centers. we also have cooling centers of all of the senior centers. >> the cooling centers are located at all community action centers and senior centers tomorrow and tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. the bus passes are available at local fire departments, a senior systems -- senior centers, and other local agencies. besides calling 31, you can also go to our web site for more information wbaltv.com you confined the cooling centers open in your area. just go to wbaltv.com divers recovered a fifth body from the hudson river after the collision yesterday afternoon. the search continues for four others who are presumed dead. michele francis has the latest

on the recovery efforts. >> one day after the collision, the crews lifted the wreckage of the helicopter. it was located -- it was moved onto a barge for the ntsb to search for evidence. >> the helicopter sustained significant damage. they will be examining the wreckage. >> officials said they also located the use large of the small plane. >> divers are working to confirm whether the targets might be the airplane. they will work on recovery of the airplane. >> the main focus for the divers is the recovery of all of the victims. seven of the nine who died had been found. liberty tours said that jimmy clark was the pilot of the helicopter. he was in new zealand native. the five italian tourists had just taken off for a sightseeing tour of the manhattan skyline. the small private plane was piloted by stephen altman.

there is tight security in mexico ahead of the president's visit. he will attend a regional summit. heavily-armed soldiers and police are a common sight in the city as preparations for the summit continue. the topics will include free trade and the drug war in mexico that has frightened many tourists and those living in border towns. the increase in gasoline

members of the house and senate began their august recess. some constituents shifted into high gear to fight the democrats' health care plan. brian moore has the story from washington. >> this is not reform. this is control. >> congress may be on vacation, but the lawmakers are not getting a break on health care reform. constituents are demanding to know how the lawmakers are voting on the health care bill, even though there is not one, at least not yet. >> there is no health care bill. this is a compilation of three committee reports. >> the house and senate kick around some plans, but failed to write an actual bill before the recess. that point has apparently got lost in the angry debate at home. >> i came out because i read the bill. >> congressional meet and greet have turned into virtual mob

scenes. >> this is not a health care even. >> democrats say it is an orchestrated political campaign. republicans see genuine concern boiling over. >> to think attacking citizens for expressing opinions may indicate some weakness in their position on the merits. >> top democrats want to compromise, but concede that they have to go along. >> if we cannot reach a bipartisan agreement, i do not want to see health care reform failed. we only get a chance once in a political lifetime to do something. >> this august, some lawmakers can expect to feel the heat like never before. the white house says it is now working to correct misinformation, including a baltimore -- including a false report that the plan includes euthanasia. this is a weather alert. >> there is a lot of heat

ingenuitand humidity out there. the track of these storms will take the bulk of the activity to the northeast of baltimore. the atmosphere is primed for these thunderstorms. the conditions are right. that is is why the thunderstorm watch is in effect for most of maryland. the watch means that we have the potential for seeing some of those thunderstorms. all of the conditions are there to seek the severe thunderstorms. cecil county is underneath a severe thunderstorm warning. that goes until 7:15 p.m. that means the storm is on our doorstep. the storm is getting ready to cross from pennsylvania into maryland. it has a history of producing wind gusts of over 60 miles per hour. there are trees down in

pennsylvania. if you are in cecil county, get inside and stay inside as these storms pass through. they should be passing by around 7:30 p.m. after that, you should be able to get back outside. the temperatures are the other big story. it is 94 in baltimore. it is 97 in ocean city. it is 96 in the inner harbor. it will be 97 tomorrow with more humidity. the heat advisory will be an effect. the heat index will feel close to 100 degrees in lots of locations. here is what it will feel like on monday. all up and down the i-95 corridor and every urban area, including baltimore through philadelphia, it has the potential to feel like up to 105 degrees throughout the day

tomorrow. that is why those advisor is are out for the heat treat it will not be safe to be outside for very long. if you usually jockey in the afternoon, skip it tomorrow. -- if you usually exercise outdoors in the afternoon, skip it tomorrow. the high-pressure is down in the south. the relief will be from the northwest. it will take awhile for it to arrive. the cold front will move through on tuesday evening. that will provide another round of thunderstorms. the relief will arrive late tuesday into early wednesday. some fog is possible later tonight. it will be sunny and hot tomorrow afternoon. out on the bay, the winds are out of the southeast. the state will be dealing with temperatures in the upper 90s. it will feel hotter than that with the heat index values close to 100 degrees for monday.
