another $750 million to make ends meet. >> maryland is standing clear and loud -- no more cuts on state employees. we are down to the bone. >> state workers have already entered furloughs. alternative work schedules are on the table but it may be trumped by more for loans. >> further cuts will be a cut to services. we are important because we print checks. if those services get cut, the process slows down. ca>> so far, they have only focused on using generic brand medication. positions could be eliminated or research is being shared with other agencies.

then firing. people on the corner of scatter. it happened on july 2. a five-year old was shot in the head. she happened to be on the street at the same time. police charged 17-year-old lemond davis. he is a young man with a lengthy juvenile record. he wore a monitoring anklet but left the gps tracking unit at home. lawyers argued the video works in their favor, because it does not clearly identified the shooter. police will not comment on the video but investigators gave no indication that they relied on the video, instead using information from witnesses.

the video shows the five-year old after she was shot, lying on the street from a distance. lamont davis was arraigned in court today, entering a plea of not guilty. >> police are investigating an assault involving a firefighter. barry simms has been following this case and joins us live with more details. >> it happened at a group home. the community and the county are taking their concerns to the state. heritage harbour is a community designed for adults 55 and older. >> many people moved in here for security and safety. >> this man was willing to tell us about problems they were having with younger residents who lived of the street. >> my bicycle disappeared, for instance. there were break-ins in cars.

people were worried. >> just last sunday, police arrested a 15-year old male. the teenager is accused of pulling a fire alarm. when asked why he did it, he replied, "i was bored." he grabbed a metal pipe and took off running. the teenager was cursing and spitting. the firefighters received minor injuries. the county executive is appalled. >> i don't want to see it happen again. >> firefighters have had 65 calls to the group home. there are reports of numerous assaults at that facility.

other areas are enjoying a dry day today. the temperatures dropped at westminster as the storms will through. -- as the storms rolled through. rather high numbers there, 94 in frederick. 93 downtown. scattered thunderstorms on insta-weather plus futurecast. even at 3:00 in the morning. overnight tonight, the risk of a storm will linger. 67 to 72 degrees. this is the cold front that will try to knock the temperatures back further. this front triggers the thunderstorms. tomorrow, some stores are going to pop up especially on the eastern shore. in northwest breeze on the day tomorrow.

waves 1 foot or less. western maryland, thunderstorms again tomorrow. look for a thunderstorm with highs only in the 70's. temperatures continue to fall back to the normal around the chesapeake bay ocean city, a thunderstorm in the forecast tomorrow and will probably linger for the upcoming weekend. this tropical depression could soon become a tropical storm. as it moves over some favorable conditions, light winds and warm water, 40 miles per hour winds means it will become a tropical storm. 16 more per hour winds are possible if it strengthens. a couple of -- 60 miles per hour winds are possible if it strengthens. the chance for a thunderstorm will linger into the weekend.
