developing story out of south baltimore. police are shooting -- searching for a person who shot a 59 year- old woman. it happened just after 9. the woman was apparently watching tv in her living room when she was hit in the shoulder by a stray bullet. >> the straight bullet went through the window and struck her in the rear of her left shoulder. we have no reason to believe that she is the intended victim of such a crime. >> please do not know how many suspects may have been involved. shooting comes hours after a lawyer released a killing video. a five-year old girl was caught in the crossfire. lamont davis was the gunman shooting at someone else. our reporter is live tonight outside the courthouse to explain why they want leaks to the video. >> lamont davis pled not guilty in court. his defense attorney and public defender dropping the police

camera video and. it shows the shooting and the public defender says the man doing the shooting is not his client. the video shot july 2 from closed circuit police cameras on pulaski street shows a man in a black shirt standing on the corner with bystanders. he starts chasing a man in a white shirt firing several shots. the camera then captures the suspect fleeing. once the shooting is over, d.c. neighbors gathered around 5 year-old raven wyatt critically injured in the crossfire. police arrested 17 year-old lamont davis and charged him with attempted first-degree murder. in a bold defense mood -- move, his defender released to the video saying the shooter is not davis. police said davis was wearing a mouth functioning gps monitoring device. the video shows the shooter was

not wearing one. >> i am sure he has a very good reason for doing it. >> one professor who respects the attorney of davis says the video is part of an approach. first, his attorney believes the tape will lead to an acquittal of the case. it has to deal with the media. >> you have to start trying to influence the jury long before the jurors. >> because of the intense media coverage surrounding the case, davis's attorney has no choice but to release the tape as a way to even the playing field. >> he has gotten very frustrated in the past several weeks having his client being found guilty in the media as he would put it. >> according to court documents, several witnesses have identified davis as the shooter in this case. police are not commenting on the video. they will leave it up to the jury. the case goes to trial in

october. we are live downtown, wbal-tv. >> the lawyer for the woman who pleaded guilty to starving her toddler to death following a religious cult says his client will get out of jail soon. she will enroll in a counseling program in northeastern maryland. it is not a correctional facility but a place where she will have a job and responsibilities. she pled guilty in march to star in her one-year-old son to death because he did not say a man and real time. -- amen at mealtime. and one person was arrested last night. investigators believe he ended the -- entered the kitchen and struck someone with a baseball bat. they were taken to the hospital with head injuries. no motive on the attack. in the "amedical alert" it

deals with oclocolon cancer patients who lowered their risk of days -- that by taking aspirin. the debate over health-care reform is still going on tonight. it will for some time. this is the scene of the town hall in new hampshire with president obama. it is much quieter compared to others. the attendees were assured that he would not sign a health care bill that would add to the deficit. he called it a health insurance reform. the plan will not been those with pre-existing conditions. it will not raise rates or fees. your insurance would not be cancelled if you get sick.

control. no one was hurt. the fire caused about $1 million in damage. several puppies are being nursed back to health tonight. they were discovered this week trapped inside a sealed container in the sweltering heat. kerry cavanaugh has more on the rescue efforts. >> this box was set up next to a dumpster when a passer-by over hood -- over heard noises coming from the container and found puppy's inside. these wondering puppies are small, curious, and are still willing to trust people despite what they have been through. the letter was discovered near a dumpster on monday. they were inside this plastic tub trapped under a sealed lid. >> somewhat by and heard some noises. they looked in the box, and there were eight puppies.

>> authorities have recovered all victims from the hudson crash. the last two bodies were pulled from the wreckage. crews lifted a mangled portion of the plane from about 60 feet of water. in prime-time those with ratings. the host of a crime show is accused of ordering his to boost his popularity. police say this man ordered five murders and broadcasted the footage on his crime series. they found 107 $5,000 along with firearms.
