for hire scheme, gunned down outside of his home in july, 2007. his killers were paid $2,500 to silence him. the teenager convicted of killing him pled guilty and will serve a 40 year sentence. the 18-year-old is the triggerman. he was 15 at the time of the drive-by shooting. according to court documents, he used his cell phone, ask about a car that the victim was selling and lower them outside. -- it lured him outside. during a conversation, he admitted that he shot a white guy three times with a 44 caliber handgun. he was a key witness in the case of patrick buyers, charged with a murder. he had agreed to testify after the murder of another man. he used an illegal so far wall

behind bars to order the kit. buyers was sentenced for the murder. >> before his sentencing, he stood up and faced the family and said that he truly regretted everything he had done and that he truly apologized for what he did. his sister told him to educate himself in prison and one day, his mother said she hopes to be able to forgive him, right now, she can't. >> thank you. tonight, authorities in howard county are searching for a suspect that this kid after assaulting a deputy. he was wearing handcuffs and leg restraints but used those cuffs to choke and hit the deputy and then tried to get the deputies gun. the deputy is being treated at howard county general hospital.

>> a car accident is under investigation. sky team 11 blew over the it seemed just before 3:00 p.m. this afternoon. two cars collided and we are told that one person was trapped in the wreckage for about 30 minutes. three people were taken to the hospital and there is no word on their condition. >> police say that michael phelps was not at fault in a car accident in which she was involved. that accident happened last night in mount vernon. police say that phelps was driving north when it collided with a carpet of the other driver ran a red light. we are live with the latest on that. >> police have not released the accident report in this case, but they are providing a little bit of information did they have confirmed that michael phelps was not at fault in this crash, rather blaming the other female driver saying that she ran a red light and she was the one that

caused the crash. >> it was just before 9:00 on thursday night michael phelps was headed east in his cadillac escalate and an unidentified woman was headed northbound in a honda accord. police go on to say that the woman ran a red light and collided with phelps. the woman was reportedly a shaken up by police and was taken to a hospital as a precaution. phelps refused medical treatment at the scene as he spoke to investigators. police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash. 11 news spoke exclusively with phelps' coach. >> he called to let me know that he was ok. >> did he tell you the circumstances? >> generally a it was basically a fender bender, essentially.

happened to this cap. the cat was said to have been put into a plastic bag with rocks and dumped into the abyss area. police say that was last sunday when they got a call from a man who got home from vacation and got a call from an 18-year-old who told him that his cat was dead. >> he was invited by a friend to play cards. mcdowell got there and found two men in a house and they were abusing and torturing his cat. he was spinning around in the air. >> according to court documents, he told police that a 25-year- old put the cat in a dryer and a microwave and turn them on and then they put the cat into a freezer and then tied the cat by its tail to a ceiling fan and
