fight. police say a 20-year-old man was shot in the leg ena 17-year-old man shot in the forearm. they were both transported to the hospital and are expected to be ok. right now police are interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage to identify a suspect. witnesses say it was pandemonium after shots rang out. >> just around the corner. you could hear the confrontation that was going on. then you heard the shots and you see everybody running. they ran passed my stand. i followed them pretty much. got out of the building. >> mayor dixon released a statement saying in part we will not tolerate the inner harbor being a hangout for those who break the law, intimidate or create a nuisance of any kind of we have a lot of police deployed in the inner harbor. the commissioner and i will continue to work diligently and swiftly to improve security. if you have any information about this crime, baltimore city police want to hear from you. live at the inner harbor, kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> all right, kim. thank you.

city police say they have taken a man into custody for shooting in northeast baltimore. we're told a man was shot in the 4900 block of harford road yesterday morning. the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the face. he was taken to a local hospital where he's now listed in disable condition. resources police believe alcohol may have been a factor in a boating accident. the boat ran aground. he was taken to shock trauma. a male passenger was taken to johns hopkins hospital and two women were taken to a local hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. >> police need your help locating a prisoner who escaped from custody. devan shame pain was being -- champagne was being tropted when he used his handcuffs to choke a sheriff police deputy. if you have any information, you're asked to call the sheriff's office. callers can remain anonymous. the teenage triggerman

responsible for the death of federal witness karl lackl will spend 40 years behind bars. jonathan cornish pleaded guilty to shooting lackl in july of 2007 to prevent him from testifying in court. the judge wants cornish to get a g.e.d. and vocational training and participate in a drug and alcohol program while in prisonon. olympic gold medalist michael phelps intends to resume training despite a sore ankle from a car crash he was involved in thursday night. meantime, he's got some explaining to do phelps will have to tell a judge while he was driving a michigan license officials say was invalid. he was issued a citation. the driver of the other vehicle anyplace a $180 fine and possibly three points on her driving record for running a red light and causing the accident. the message on his official face book site, phelps said he was fine and expressed concern for the woman involved in the car crash. >> officials are look into changing a law requiring carbon monoxide detectors this after three people were hospitalized and others sickened after a leak

at the americana hotel last week. the law was passed in 2007 after two people died from carbon monoxide poisoning. it applies to had he tells, the americana did not have c.o. detectors. as president obama wraps up a weekend of town hall meetings and sightseeing, health care remained a high priority on capitol hill. the president is pushing fard for a government insurance option that many lawmakers are offering different solutions. brook hart has more. >> as he took in old faithful and the grand canyon with his family, president obama appeared newly willing to bridge the nation's divide on health care reform. could he drop the controversial government insurance option? >> that is not the essential element. >> this was president obama saturday in colorado. >> the public option, whether we have it or we don't have it is not the entirety of health care reform. this is one sliver of it.

the president promoted the so-called public plan. it's galvanized opponents of his reform push. >> this isn't about republicans and democrats. >> critics complain private inyou are sheers would -- insurers would go bust. >> the public plan is an uneven playing field, will destabilize private insurance. >> leading senate democrats say the public plan fight's already over. >> the fact is there are not the votes in the united states senate for the public option. there never have been. so to continue to chase that rabbit i think is just a wasted effort. >> north dakota's kent conrad promotes a member-run co-op system instead. >> we ought to look at it. i think it's a far cry from the original proposals. >> the price could be democrats' votes. west virginia's john rockefeller calls the public plan a must. backers see it as a long-time answer for the uninsured, 8,000 people are lining up for free donated care at the los angeles

"covering the nation" this morning three brothers are dead after a gunman opens fire with a semiautomatic weapon. police in wisconsin say the 23-year-old shooter killed the 13, 25, and 32-year-old brothers while at their home in western wisconsin. a fourth man was shot before the gunman turned the gun on himself. that victim was not seriously injured. the gunman is listed in critical condition. police say it appears all of the victims knew the suspects. >> investigators in tennessee are looking into how an 18-year-old man died while in police custody. a local paper set reed died after officers arrested him friday night. reed led officers on a

beltway equally smooth at this hour. that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. let's get the latest on the buses and the trains. good morning, kurt. >> good morning. we have on the light rail a 30-minute delay north and southbound. metro is on schedule. the marc train system on-time service no delays. and a few construction delays on -- or diversions on the buses. the 33 bypassing arm stad gardens. three bus at hopkins place and pratt. look for the 36 bus diverting at the alameda and kirk avenue. i'm kurt kronke. now back to sandra shaw. >> good morning. we are monitoring the landfall of tropical storm claudette. let's look at some video it made landfall before 2:00 a.m. on the panhandle area. there's a potential for this to dump about 10-inches of rainfall in the panhandle and in southwest alabama and periodic doses as it makes its way across land.

it's got 50 mile-per-hour sustained winds. it may be weakening throughout today as it does cross the land masses, move together west at about 15 miles an hour. let's take a look at our radar and satellite imagery. we have that going on down there in the panhandle. this is what we're look at with tropical storm claudette. we also have a whole lot of nothing going on. we have our weather influence by the bermuda high. strong ridge of high pressure is in full control. it gave us a beautiful weekend. no rainfall so to speak. it looks like we're dry again today. 75 downtown. 70 at the airport. 70 generally on the eastern shore. going to be a hot one today statewide, even in the mountains of western maryland. we're up to about 87 degrees for a daytime high. partly cloudy skies. winds light and out of the southwest in baltimore. 92 degrees. normal high is 85. surging above that under this high pressure ridge. a nice stable air mass in place. it will stay in place until wednesday or so. 88 on the shores of ocean city today with partly cloudy skies.

on the chesapeake bay, winds out of the southeast at five to 10 knots. waves a foot or less. the water temperatures in the 80's. 100-degree record highs on this date, 1997. and on this date back in 1979, a 53-degree record low was set. but tonight we're going remain mild. 65 to 70. partly cloudy skies. the winds out of the south. high pressure. that's the dominant surface feature. cold front will not make it through here until wednesday. when it does, it's going to stall out to our northwest. we'll have chances of showers and storms. only about 30%. in the meantime, we're going to remain dry and warm. take a look at the movement. this is tropical depression anna. it looks like it's going to hit where tropical storm claudette hit last night. more concern to us, we're monitoring what is now hurricane bill. as you can see, right now it's located to the east of the lesser antilles. by friday, it will be a major hurricane with sustained winds, category three level.

markets as well. what does this mean for wall street? stocks do face an up hill battle which is looking weak here today. that's on the heels of a drop friday. stocks falling for the first time last week in five weeks. we had an unexpected drop in consumer confidence that fueled concern that the recent rally isn't justified. under water homeowners no longer have the monopoly on fo for forfeitures. the paper says many hotels don't see the point in trying to renegotiate their loans after facing the worst decline in revenue since the 1930's. complicating refinancing many hotel loans were packaged as commercial mortgage-backed securities. more than 1,000 non-casino hotel properties are either in foreclosure or have stopped paying off their debts. at the new york stock exchange, jane king, bloomberg news reporting for wbal-tv 11 news. back to you. >> thank you. we'll see you back here at 6:15.
