>> live, local, late-breaking. this is wbal-tv 11 news t onight in hd. >> rain continues to fall, creating a great chance of flooding in low-lying areas. good evening. we begin with a and weather alert. flood watches remain in effect until midnight for most of maryland. many residents without power this evening. according to bge, over 2000 customers are without power. the majority of outages are in baltimore city, fall by baltimore county, arundel, and howard. >> the bulk of heavy rain has pushed its way up the area, and

that seems to be the trend over the overnight hours. a quick look at ht doppler shows leiter rain showers across portions of eastern baltimore, going towards aberdeen and delta. these are garden variety showers. the severe threat has ended, and even the threat for heavy downpours has pretty much diminished heading into overnight hours. on the machine, though, we can see flash flood watches in effect on the i-95 corridor and portions of the eastern shore. in darker green, flash forward flood warnings in effect. the rain we received continues to fall down into the chesapeake and we will watch the threat diminish. still looking for a chance of rain, some of which could be heavy. the bulk of heavy stuff has started to move out. you have to make sure you stick

down to the full forecast, coming a little bit. >> remember, you can follow the storms of our website. pinpoint the activity down to your own street. new tonight, it is unclear if weather played a factor in a deadly accident in anne arundel county. a female victim was transferred to baltimore washington medical center, where we pronounced her dead. no more details are available at this time. a deadly accident, also involving a pedestrian. a woman was struck in the 7100 block of north calvert street and around nine last night. she was pronounced dead at johns hopkins. she was crossing against the light when a 71-year-old female driver hit her.

baltimore police are investigating an armed robbery at the diner on the bellaire road. a man came in with a ski mask and left with a large sum of money. police are investigating. no one was hurt. the largest russian town without a homicide this year has come to an end. so far, there have been 143 homicides this year, compared to 142 last year. city police are still trying to piece together suspects in all cases. melissa has more. >> even so, the numbers are still well below what they were just two years ago. in 2007, the city had 200 homicides. numbers are improving, but the shootings are happening right in their front yard. >> police were called to the 600 block of dale avenue. and on the fight -- an

unidentified man was found shot. a trail of blood was followed to the playground, where they say he was shot several times. >> i have been here 30 years. >> the victim was rushed to an area hospital and later pronounced dead. on thursday, two shootings kept homicide busy, including the death of donte gunther, killed in his home in the 100 block of south highland avenue after a gunman shot him through his front window. and an unidentified man was killed in northwest baltimore. the motive in that shooting is not clear. thursday's shooting broke the largest stretch without a homicide for the year. it lasted nine days. and while the more than a week- long reprieve should be noted, some are still concerned for
