kevin walker, the manager at the thunderbird motel, made the grizzly discovery. >> i was stunned. i was absolutely stunned when i opened up the door i cracked it open to say hello and the computer was sitting on the bed and then i opened up the door further and there he was hanging. >> reporter: walker says an attractive young woman brought jenkins to the motel on thursday, checked him in and then left. hotel employeed adam burke didnt recognize the man on the news for the past couple days. >> you wouldn't think it was him. >> reporter: in march, jenkins married jasmine fiore. the marriage was short lived and

police say it ended in murder. on august 15th, fiore's naked mutilated body was found stuffed in a suitcase and dumped in a trash bin outside of los angeles. detective believing the native canadian immediately went on the run. >> obviously with helicopters and dogs searching the immediate area of the border we were then able to use our partnerships across the country with other agencies and followed on tips that spanned from coast to coast. >> reporter: after the homicide investigators believe jenkins drove 1,000 miles to a small coastal town in northwest washington state. his suv and speed boat were found near the canadian border. once in canada, it's unclear how much assistance jenkins received and from whom. jasmine fiore's family is left with unanswered questions. they may never know why the beautiful young woman met such a tragic death. ryan jenkins may have been found dead but this investigation is far from over. investigators want to know exactly who dropped jenkins off at this motel. they want to get closure to this

and another 12-year-old girl were swept into the water and had to be rescued by the coast guard. the 7 year old lost her life. wildfires raging for a fourth day in the suburbs of athens, greece. some 20,000 people evacuated and scores of homes have been damaged or destroyed. aircraft from germany and france are joining the fight today. a cash for clunkers rebate program ends at 8:00 tonight eastern time despite glitches the program revived new car sales that had slumped to their lowest level in 40 years. at the box office this weekend, the best opening ever for "inglourious basterds" that earned $47.6 million. whether exercise matters or not. i would argue that exercise does matter. what exercise does is fuels up the furnace in your body and allows you to burn more calories and it allows you to put down more muscle and more muscle is more efficient than fat. i think the premise here -- i think you and i come from the same school of belief here that when you exercise you then make a different food choice afterwards. if you're going to exercise for an hour and i offer you a bag of potato chips, you'll probably say no. i'm a big believer that if you in fact want to diet and exercise, however you define exercise, moving matters. >> some people claim that exercise actually makes you hungrier. so then you do make bad choices. >> i think it may make you hungrier but you don't make worse choices. at the end of the day it's calories in and calories out. you may get hungrier later but you think in the back of your mind what will i put in the system today. >> that cover story that claimed

that exercise doesn't make you thin, so the fact that you may not -- you certainly are gaining tone. >> i think it was the wrong question. if you are sort of thick around your middle or genetically you're predisposed to a certain body type, all of the exercise in the world can't make you a cover girl. however it can help you lose weight and makes you healthier. >> let's talk about protein. everybody is on the atkins diet or protein diets out there. can protein make you heavy? >> sure. if i give you a 3,000 calorie diet today of all protein, you're going to be gain weight. it comes down to that age old equation. calories in and calories out. do you burn carbs, pat and protein differently? yes. some are more efficient than others. you still have to have a basic balance of all three. protein is burden more slowly.

carbohydrate are the match that fuels the fire. at the end of the day if you have too much, you'll get fat. >> here's an interesting one. your taste buds. do they get bored after the first couple bites of school? >> after the first three bites your taste buds go i get it. don't do it anymore. so gulping your food makes you fat. chewing slowly and sort of being present in the moment can make you thin. what so many of the fast food restaurants have done is make food so it doesn't have to be chewed very much so we inhale it. have foods that you chew. >> and i guess everyone needs a pick me up in the morning. coffee is the other one. we all start with our coffee. >> it's a great drug. >> good to you or bad for you? >> great. makes your brain function well. wakes you up. downside if you have insomnia, it can make things worse. for some people make their heart flutter and sometimes young

not too much. depends on the tartness of your fruit. >> you make your own dough as well. >> in the magazine we have step by step instructions on how to do it. i'm sure you have a great pie dough recipe of your own. >> it's called open the freezer in the frozen section getting that pie dough out. >> that's okay. any good pie pastry will work. we roll this out thin. about an eighth of an inch thick. we cut out rounds with a biscuit cutter. >> one of the tricks is to keep it cold. >> that will keep it flakey. a spoonful here of the fresh peach. i have beautiful sweet potato and fig. i'll do one of these. we'll take a bit of water and go around the edge. >> i didn't do that. what does that do? >> that is the glue. then you fold it over. just sort of pinch it. this is important. you want to get a good seal. if you don't, it will pop open

when you're frying and that's not good. turn it forwards and backwards. you refrigerate it. and then comes the frying. we have some going here. >> how hot do you want to make it? >> about 365 to 370 in there. drop these in. we'll fry them in batches. >> how long do they cook for? >> two to three minutes until they're golden brown. sometimes they'll roll themselves over if you have enough oil. that's one way you know they're done. >> then you have to cool them? >> you want to drain them. a rack is a good way to do that. we'll take them out. then we have some sugar to roll them in. >> always good to roll things in sugar. >> it improves most things in life. just put them in sugar. >> i think we have help. >> i'll give you some sugar.
