opportunity for people, making sure kids had access to higher education and our medicare system was working and to try to bring peace in the world. i was pleased to be his colleague. >> health care reform has been a cause near to senator kennedy's heart. last week he urged leaders to change state laws to allow for a speedy replacement. the outcome of the health care reform act could hinge on a single vote. could you offer insight on to that? >> i know massachusetts is trying to figure out how to make sure they are represented in the senate with two senators during this difficult time of transition. i know they are working that out, but the battle in the senate begins not in massachusetts but in the senate legislature. what ted would want us to do --

he had such a great gift of working across party lines and being willing to compromise. that is what he would want us to do now. we know that we need to improve access to 40 million americans, but at the same time do no harm to the people who currently have health care. he would want us to do this with civility. he would want us to do this with the intellectual rigor required. when i worked with him, whether it was increasing opportunity for higher education, creating the office of women's health that helped bring down breast cancer rates by 15%, he always said we govern best when we work together. that would be the great legacy. ted kennedy had the courage of his convictions. we have to have the courage to work together for health care

right now in the bay there are no problems on the chesapeake. a record high today was 101 setback in 1948. it is secure for another year. the record low was set back in 1967. we will still be milder tonight. outlying areas would be potentially 71. the front is slowly moving in and the high pressure will move end. tomorrow will be tried but we cannot move out an isolated thunderstorm. what we are dealing with in the tropics is tropical storm danny. this is a considerable storm with 45 mile per hour sustained winds. it is continuing to move to the northwest at 18 miles per hour. this is sweeping up the nose -- sweeping up the east coast. it could hit the eastern shore
