good afternoon. i am mindy basara. it is a sad and somber day as the nation pauses to remember the september 11 terrorist attacks. memorial services are being held today, including this one in new york city. >> a day of mourning and remembrance marks the eighth anniversary since the september 11 terrorist attacks. it took the lives of nearly 3000 people. near ground zero in new york city, a silence marks the moment two hijacked planes struck the world trade center towers. gathering in rainy and windy weather, victims families traded flowers and thoughts at ground zero, a makeshift memorial the shares space with an active construction site. at a park adjacent to ground zero, family members read the

names of each of a loved ones who died that day. >> while there is pain in remembering the loss, there is sweetness in remembering their lives. >> at the white house, the first family led a moment of silence as well. president obama has designated september 11 an annual day of service and remember this, calling on americans to participate in volunteerism -- service and remembrance, calling on americans to participate in voluntarism. >> the men and women who lost their lives eight years ago today leave a legacy that still shines brightly in the darkness, and the calls on all this to be strong and firm -- all of us to be strong and firm and united. >> in shanksville, pennsylvania, for the secretary of state colin powell spoke at a memorial for the victims of

>> a quick look at the satellite imagery. you can see the storm spending, the center of the storm, almost a nor'easter type storm, is over the delaware bay. heaviest over maryland right now. you can see the yellows and reds indicating the heaviest rain. it is moving over baltimore county and north in carroll county. also noticing down to the south, annapolis is the southern edge of the rain, and they are getting a few sprinkles and towers down there. -- sprinkles and showers down there. we will talk about how the storm will be paid over the weekend. >> baltimore police are investigating a shooting in northeast baltimore. they found a man lying on the sidewalk of order and avenue near belair road at 2:00 a.m. he had multiple gunshot months to the torso.

one man is dead and another wounded in a shooting in baltimore last night. police arrived on the scene of radnor avenue and found two men suffering from gunshot one was pronounced dead after being shot in the head. police are investigating the possibility that there may be a third victim in the case. a man showed up at a nearby fire was suffering from gunshot wounds. two employees of the activist group acorn have been fired after the video shows that apparently giving advice to a man and woman posing as a pet and prostitute they allegedly suggesting that the woman describes her job as a performance artist and offers advice on how to quarantine sex workers as defendants. a spokesperson says that she questions whether parts of the video were altered to snare the activist group.

only 3/4 of an inch here. this area indicated read is two to three inches of rain. the beaches had over four inches of rain. pretty impressive start. if it had been a nor'easter in january, a foot of snow would have been the story with this thing. easton is stuck at 59. dulles airport is 63. 57 at westminster. where the sun is shining in charlottesville, it is 72 degrees right now. a lot of the rain is being pushed up into new england now. this high is really what is the storm of. it has been spinning its wheels out there. it will continue to play around the coast right now.

the high will break down and it will allow the storm to break out. this afternoon, a pretty good chance for continued rain and showers, especially from the baltimore washington. . cloudy and cool if it is not raining. if this thing with its far enough, some areas to the south may start to see some sunbreaks, and maybe a couple of you will come closer to 70 degrees or so. here is the rain moving by evening a little further north. as we get into saturday, the thing is still spending in there. we may get a clip of the shower and see cuts until sunday. things will finally straightened out. we have a big football game on sunday, so the lead up to that today until midnight.
