today. volume still light. an 11-minute right on the -- ride on the northeast outer loop. let's give you a live view of traffic in the white marsh area. so far so good, picking up ever so slightly in volume. no sign of delays yet looking good into howard county and beyond. harford road, inner and outer loops checking out fine. the rest of the major roadways in great shape. back to you both. good morning. >> thank you. our big story a violent weekend in baltimore city as police investigate four separate shooting incidents on sunday alone. >> mayor sheila dixon tells 11 news she is fed up. 11 news reporter kate amara is live at police headquarters with more. >> three of those four incidents were deadly. the spade of shootings began when israeli mason was shot several times in the 2000 block of mcculloh street.

he was pronounced dead at the hospital. the next killing, three hours later in south baltimore. 35-year-old andre williams was gunned down in the 100 block of west craw street. another man was murdered just afternoon on sunday after being shot in the area of west cold spring lane and reisterstown road. and according to balm bum police, the search is on for whoever gunned down a man on west pratt street just after 6:00. officers say that victim may have been shot about a block away and then staggered to the area nor help. for help. we do have reaction from mayor dixon who spoke to 11 news right in the middle of this violent streak in her city. >> we got to continue to go after illegal guns. i can't stress that any more. we're still working on a host of issues. i think we're making those kind of strides. do i need some trying times? it's a matter of saying do we want to go backwards or continue to build on that even though we have less? are you committed to the plan in

making a difference for the citizens of this city? >> the violence continued into this day. just after midnight baltimore city police confirm another serious shooting incident that happened, marking the fourth shooting on the spreet in the last four weeks. kate amara, wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you. a west baltimore priest is letting guns into his church for the seventh time, all in an effort to get them off the street and stop the violence. 21 guns were turned into st. gregory the catholic church. the program offers $100 for each workable automatic or semi-automatic handgun and assault rifle and $50 for any other workable gun. no names were taken. >> we're grateful for the people who turned them in. several who turned them in said they had them laying around the house and they were afraid they would fall into the wrong people's homes, which is the right motivation to turn in

these guns. >> after airing the story, the monsignor told you he received more calls from people wanting to turn in their guns. all guns collect ready turned into local law enforcement. >> in this morning's "project economy report," the stawt audit says the state has no money set aside for the fire and police pension system. the report is for firefighters and police hired before 1947. ed gallagher says the pre1947 plan has always been a pay as you go system and that there are not many people still left on that plan. mayor sheila dixon says despite recent legal issues she's facing she continues to fight and work hard for the city. she also addressed residents' concerns of who's splitting the bill for her legal battle. >> my focus is not allowing the citizens to burden and focus on all of taxes and issues. so i don't want a burden that the taxpayers on a whole host of

issues that we're currently dealing with in this economy. >> mayor dixon also says the city's doing everything possible to save money. that includes cuts in salary and freezing jobs. she also says she signed a document stating she will take the maximum furlough days. you can view the mayor's interview on our website, wbaltv.com. >> today president obama goes to new york looking to kickstart his drive for regulatory reform on wall street. the raging health care debate and opposition have helped move that issue to congress's back burner. brook hart has that story from washington. >> it was a year ago today lehman brothers collapsed and the financial panic began. investors and homeowners saw wealth wiped out and two administrations stepped in with massive bailouts and aid. president obama today highlights what has changed and what hasn't. not a single new law has been enacted to prevent a repeat. but the president will say the

right now near nice and high and dry, free and clear. all the clouds to our south and west. it looks like we're going to see mostly sunny skies today. beautiful sunshine statewide. right now 68 downtown. 61 at the airport. 59 in easton. so those clear skies allowing the temperature to drop overnight. it's 63 in cambridge. cross the state line and it's only 65 in york, pennsylvania. a cool start. it's going to be a beautiful day. the sun will warm us up to the mid 80's by this afternoon. mid 70's, warmer than normal for the mountains of western maryland. plenty of sun down there as we look at central maryland, the heart of the state it looks like beautiful sunshine, 84 degrees and just a light westerly wind flow at about five to 10 miles per hour. so really no complaints today as we're under the nice influence, stable influence of high pressure. 76, a few little thin clouds on the beaches of ocean city but nothing like that pounding surf and blustery conditions of last week. winds north-northwesterly on the

chesapeake bay, waves a foot or less. the water temperatures are anywhere from 69 degrees to 78 degrees. we should be 79 for the daytime high. so obviously into the mid 80's. 94 the record high in 1931. the record low of 42 set back in 1975. our average low is 58 degrees. so just a little bit above that tonight. but some of our outlying areas, about 59. it looks like 66 or so downtown. the stars will be twinkling throughout tonight. what we have going on surface feature wise is a high dome of nice pressure. a nice clockwise flow around that high will keep us stable, warm and dry and protect from us any problems, at least until midweek. by midweek what's going to happen is that a front will get through. and in the wake of that, there will be high pressure to our north. anytime we have that going on over new england, much like last week we're going to pull in some of that flow from the atlantic so wednesday through at least friday it looks like a chance of

showers each day. it's going to be cooler, too. temperatures in the low to mid 70's. it looks like we're going to see periods of rain wednesday and thursday especially starting to clear out a little more on friday. then it looks like we won't really be clear until sunday by next weekend. >> in this morning's "consumer alert," this week is known as home-grown school lunch week. all week long schools in all 24 districts in the state will serve fruits, vegetables, bread, cheese and meats from maryland. some schools even continue throughout the school year. the program helps teach students where food comes from, how to eat healthier and how food is produced. officials announced new expansion plans to disney world. the dumbo ride will add in size, an added mermaid ride. four princess characters will get their own fantasy land. my daughter would love that. new restaurants will be added as well. to make room the park is tearing

before the investment bank filed for bankruptcy protection. that ushered in the global economic crisis. today president obama will give a speech just across the street from here at federal hall. he is expected to urge the financial community to support increased oversight and regulation. the chief economist at jpmorgan chase told bloomberg thanks to the slump, the economy may see its slowest recovery since 1945. as for the number of stocks, a five-day winning streak. concern over earnings growth overshadowed a consumer confidence report. the same concern driving stock futures this morning quite a bit lower. health stocks a major focus this week. chairman max baucus saying he'll make one last attempt to win republican support before he joins other democrats in an effort to overhaul the nation's health care system which could include a government-run insurance option. rising health care costs now account for a sixth of the u.s. economy. the republicans worry the plan may add too much to the federal
