the incident ended with one officer wounded and a suspect dead. the suspect pulled out a knife-like object and stabbed the office in the back. he was wearing a bullet prove invest. both officers have been put on routine administrative leave. it's all unfolding in the 2800 block of orleans about 10 blocks east of johns hopkins. that investigation continues. reporting live.

>> thank you. this morning, no charges have been filed against the john hopkins student who defended himself from a would be burglar. the 40-year-old was killed after he broke into a home in the 300 block of east university parkway. when the 21-year-old student who lived there heard the intruder, he came down armed with an samuri swoerd. in a tussle, his right hand was almost completely cutoff and a wound to the body killed him. >> he couldn't run, they already had campus police on the ground. why would they still kill him? >> the renters of that home told police days earlier, someone

broke into their home which left them on edge. police said there had been numerous burglaries in the neighborhood. they will work to determine if this man was responsible for those break ins. >> this was the team captured just before 4:00. both drivers involved in the collision had to be cut out of their vehicles. they are being take tone shock trauma. trying to determine what caused this pickup truck to crash into a home near route 140. one person flown to shock trauma with serious but not life threatening injuries. >> a 17-year-old boy will be tried as an assault for his alleged sexual assault against a 7-year-old girl. the judge wishes he could have

placed him in a juvenile program but the risk of him reoffending at age 21 is too great. he lured the girl from a play ground to his home. >> the former baltimore city police lawsuit getting a new lease on life, clark is suing the city over his dismissal five years ago. clark was never charged in that case. the court of appeals has agreed to hear his case in march. >> baltimore city police is looking for ways to trim 5% off their current budget, everything is on the stable accept for the department's core purpose.
