knocked out the pilot lights in some of these gas water heaters. with so much water and sewer system, it could also back up the methane gas that is in the sewer system. those are some of the concerns they are dealing with. they are concerned about the elderly, making sure that they are all right and taken care of. a lot of property has been pretty much destroyed. we sought a harley-davidson pretty much under water. basements are being flooded. it has been a huge headache. we do not have any reports of any injuries. the logan village shopping center -- as you can see in the video, we have a small boat that is going down the street checking on individuals. it looks as if a hurricane came through here that caused a lot

of damage. you can imagine this is going to be going on for some time now. there is a response. it the proper -- the department of public works is responding. they have a swift water rescue team at the location. baltimore county police is on the scene with their helicopter and has requested assistance from neighboring agencies to come assist with not only blocking off traffic, because if you're trying to come across 695, it is pretty much shut down from that point to the north of logan village shopping center. there are too many streets to talk about. the only thing we can tell you right now other than the immense damage your seeing from the video is that no one has been reported hurt at the present time. i do not know how long it is

going to take for them to get this water shut off. you will obviously have a lot of issues trying to deal with getting rid of the water, the debris, the dirt, all of that mass. we have been watching it. it is still gushing. if you look at the police standing there, you get a good idea how bad the road has been. >> that must be a huge water main to be putting out that amount of water, roy. >> i don't know the size of the water main, but it is immense. >> and it is pouring into people's homes, too. it is not just coming to their doorstep. >> some houses do have water in them, some of water in the basement. some are lucky, but for the most part, there is a three or four block area of homes where they have a lot of water damage. it has come up to the front

areas. >> we have seen some areas where kids have been walking away through it. at some of the water is actually up to the top portion of the doors of the cars. as you see, that looks like a little bit of swift water because it has funneled down from the shopping center down a major freeway. there are some kids out playing in it and adults trying to make sure that people are ok. the water is still rising in this location. it has not subsided at all. it is getting worse. the department of public works has pretty much responded. i have not been able to pick up on the scanner as to the size of the water main, how long it is going to take to shut it off. the baltimore county fire and police have pulled the plug and put everything at their disposal to come down here to deal with

it. the have called for additional manpower. they have called for neighboring agencies to come give them a hand. the fire department, like i said, has the swift water rescue team here. i have a couple of small boats. we have heard that one police officer was able to acquire a small boat, and they are going door-to-door. the only good thing out of this, no one has been hurt yet. they're trying to get things under control here. we will update you. >> the one thing i would imagine authorities don't want is for folks who have relatives in that area to go converging on the area, blocking the roads in, because you need unclear for the emergency vehicles. dodge exactly, you hit the nail on the head there. they have had a lot of problems

lot of water main breaks as of late around the region. this is one of the biggest one so far. captain roy taylor is bringing us updates from sky team 11. >> the biggest thing is to get the water shut off. that will be the very first thing to deal with. from that point on, it will be the cleanup. the third thing is any type of gas main problem that they may be dealing with because of water getting into the basement. the county roads and state roads have been bringing in large bucket trucks to make sure the areas are clear for the water that is getting out to drain into the drainage system. we see it working its way up towards the day. >> we also have some on the phone who does have water inside

the water. >> have you ever seen a water main break like this one? >> i have worked in public works for 15 years, and this is the worst i have ever seen. >> how big of a problem would be to shut the water off at this point? >> the first is to locate where the valve is. it is going to take a while. but we are rushing as fast as we can with all possible speed. we have emergency e-mail and telephone calls that have got out to everyone. we're sending everybody possible to the scene to help salvage the situation. >> you have any idea how much water is being pumped out of that main? >> i don't want to hazard a guess, but i have been working here for a while. and this is the biggest i have ever seen. we are concerned for the safety of the citizens, and our first priority is to find the source

of the water and get it shut off as quickly as possible. >> if folks need help evacuating, the only no. we are being given is to simply dial 911. >> we're working with the emergency services for baltimore county and the rescue services. we trained for this kind of situation. but we will all be cooperating, working as a team, and doing the best we can for the citizens. we will get the water shut off and make sure people are safe. >> with water flowing into homes and knocking out power, what advice do you have for people that are still in their homes right now? things they should not do under these circumstances. >> i am not best qualified to give that advice. i would defer that to the fire people or the emergency rescue people.

you could see water is still gushing up. the main is just running rapid here. it has actually -- it is about four or 5 feet down. water through logan village, fortunately everybody in love and villages pretty much out and about. baltimore county police and fire are dealing with trying to deal with evacuations, checking on people in homes that are somewhat trapped. they have had boats that are going to the neighborhoods. one thing we have noticed, people are starting to walk around inside or on the water. it we have seen its up to chest high. it is up to the top of the door rails. it is everywhere to the east side of love and village, working its way down towards the traffic circle. the biggest problem that the

police are dealing with other than the water issue is people trying to circumnavigate or cut through the area off of 695. it is a nightmare of traffic. near turner station on towards the boulevard, it is a nightmare. buses are stopped, cars are stopped. nobody is going anywhere fast. trying to cut through the neighborhood, as you look at the circle, i counted three or four mta busses that are trapped at that location. there is no place for them to go. everybody trying to cut through and make a short cut, there are some heroes that are blocked off. you can't get through. do yourself a favor, get them on the cellphone, have dinner.

another incident, and the mother of one of the teens is involved. we are joined live with this story. >> police wanted to make it clear that this is not a gang- related crime or a high school rivalry. it was a situation of a mother seeking revenge using her oldest son and some dunbar high school football players to do the job. it was september 12, several hours after a dunbar high school football game when a young man and several of his friends were beaten and stabbed at twin circle way. the victims were taken to hospital and survived. the police were able to find the suspects rather quickly. >> they recognized them from the football team. that led police to dunbar. >> they are arrested of five football players from 15 to 17.

also, one of the mothers. she drove some of the players, including her 16-year-old son to the scene that knowing that they were going there to attack malloy. she thought that her youngest son was beaten by him. >> she admitted to driving there. but she was one of the first people arrested. >> we attempted to get comments from those involved in the incident. but no one was home. at the scene, neighbors were very hostile towards us making threats and using obscenities. police say they are using it -- they are investigating. it had nothing to do with a school rivalry or gangs. >> it looks like the mother decided she wanted to get revenge on someone she believed the upper son. >> all of the juvenile will be

on the scene working together. the city is trying to locate the right place to turn off the water, to stop the gusher. we have police and fire rescue teams at the scene. we have water boat rescue teams on the scene. people have been using their good common sense and encouraging everyone, as you pointed out, the area of the flooding is fairly extensive. the water is anywhere from knee to chest high. we ask that people continue to use common sense. stay in your house. shelter in place. don't go out. don't let anybody play in the water. it is with the moving water. it is not a game, it is serious. it is not a game, it is serious.
