only 2% had no opinion. this is an exclusive poll for our market. >> more furloughs should help with the gap in the city's budget. they want to trim the budget. our reporter joins us live outside of city hall this morning with more details. >> a combination of cuts and furloughs, officials want to save over $30 million. mayor sheila dixon says furloughs are necessary to save jobs. >> if we do not do the furloughs, it could mean up to 400 people being laid off in city government. >> baltimore city is facing a $60.2 million shortfall in the budget. a plan includes laying off 27 workers, shutting down city government with five days with additional unpaid leave depending on salary. the furloughs began on october 5

and include mayor sheila dixon. several city council members and the finance group who put together the plan are affected. >> we must act and we must act now. the only likely alternative to the furlough plan and it could be more painful. the longer we wait, the more painful it will be. >> they have to come up with $8 million in cuts as an alternative to furloughs. unions for the city and firefighters say that furloughs are part of a contractual violation. seven court locations will remain fully operational. >> people are picking up extra caseload. they are filling in for colleagues on the day that they are furloughed. >> public works will close its offices on friday october 9 in

starting to get a driver in cooler in the mountains over western maryland. in baltimore, it was 84 yesterday. it looks like the same thing today. 86 at the inner harbor. an 80's as far as the beaches go. a couple of breaks of sunshine through the clouds. the winds will be shifting to the northwest at high pressure starts to slowly build in and call us -- cool us. waves on the bay 1 foot or less. we are getting shorter days as we enter the season of autumn. 95 was the record high. a low of 39.

tonight we will be cooler. 59-65. the wins will be more northerly. -- the winds will be more northerly. we will have breezy conditions tomorrow because of a high pressure. another front to our west will come through which will give us showers on the weekend. it's like chance of afternoon showers on saturday. 69 degrees is the high. by 1:00, hopefully things will be fine.
