[captioning made possible by constellation energy group] a family of four found dead in their mount airy home. tonight, the police reveal how the bolten family was killed. that is the big story on this saturday night. good evening. maryland state police have confirmed this was a case of a murder-suicide, confirmed that 38-year-old charles dalton killed his wife, not to children, and the family dog before taking his life. melissa carlson has more. >> < 24 hours after the gruesome

discovery, maryland state police know much more about the family. they say that 37-year-old jennifer dalton, charles dalton jr., and 7-year-old emmaline were found shot in their head. they believe that the person responsible as charles dalton sr., who was also found dead with a self-inflicted gun wound to the head. the big question, what could have led to the murder-suicide? >> there is preliminary information the family may have been having financial difficulties. that is part of what the investigators are continuing to look into. >> neighbors say the family was having a hard time selling their home. iemmaline was a second grader. charles dalton jr. was a

freshman. we spoke to a member from the fire department and they said they had no idea who was inside the home until hours later. >> it is tough for everybody. our junior members, they were quite upset, understandably. we brought them all together with their parents at the station and brought and a critical incident stress management team, which helps these people deal with the grieving process. >> we are also told that grief counselors will be at the school on tuesday when they resume. tonight, will have much more on and charles dalton sr., the father, and more about the financial issues. melissa carlson, wbal tv 11 news. there have been at least four other family murder-suicide in maryland in the last 2 1/2 years, three involving residents of frederick county. a baltimore county man is in

hospital after anne arundel county police had to shoot him. the police say it started with a traffic stop. the man fled and struck an officer in the process. the police say he tried to run them over again in baltimore county. officers said they were forced to shoot but he got away. he was later apprehended after checking himself into say agnes hospital with multiple gunshot wounds -- after checking himself into st. agnes hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. baltimore county police are looking for a person who killed an elderly man and white march. the police said it received a call last night that the man was in cardiac arrest. by the time to respond, he had already died. an autopsy showed the manner of death was homicide. there is no word on how he was killed. a shooting investigation in baltimore county. the police say a man believed to be in his 20's were shot around 3:30. he's being treated at shock

trauma. no arrests have been made. we started today with the sunshine, then the clouds rolled in. now we have rainshowers arriving through much of baltimore. the heavier rain, northern virginia, making its way through. not expecting any thunderstorms out of this, but we are expecting a little bit of heavy rain in some locations. it will be a sober the rest of this evening. the forecast, temperatures, 64 degrees baltimore, a little bit on the cool side. 61 at the airport, ocean city 71 degrees. tonight's forecast, it will be rainy, heavy at times, upper 50's, low 60's. how much longer the rain will last for the rest of the weekend forecast, coming up.

now we go to a horrible scene on i-95 this morning. a tractor-trailer and car collided at 2:30. the accident -- right exit 4395. and man and woman dialed and child suffered second and third degree burns. the adults were taken to shock trauma. the driver of the truck was taken to an emergency medical center. officials have not given out an update on the conditions. >> an ultimatum for the officials in iran, you have three months to open up your nuclear facility or face sanctions. today, tehran said it would comply but did not give specifics. >> iran announced saturday that its secret underground nuclear facility is almost operational and that international inspections will be allowed. how and when is not clear. secretary of state hillary clinton says that is fine, but

compared with that of johnny unitas. some compare the list of the season. but there is no denying that. manning is a great player in a future hall of famer, worthy of the reaction. what is still in question, why the indianapolis and baltimore colts continue to be linked. it is a disservice to both the city of indianapolis and baltimore, and the nfl needs to separate the franchise's once and for all. records are clearly made to be broken, and not even peyton manning has come close to breaking johnny unitas's record of 47 consecutive games with a touchdown pass. if he does, it'll be his alone. however, we believe it is now shared with an asterisk. the next time you go to ribbings game, be sure to take a minute to admire and salute the statue of the greatest baltimore colt of all time. th
