why, as neighbors and friends come forward to help paint a better picture of charles dalton and his family. melissa carlson has been on the ground in frederick county for us all day. she joins us now tonight. >> friends and neighbors have been gathering outside the home all day long. they have put together a makeshift memorial in front of the home. those we spoke to all seem to be asking the same question, what could have led to this? lawrence tynes now mark the home where police say 38-year-old charles dalton killed himself, his family and the family dog. >> mrs. dalton and her two children both were all victims of murder. >> charles and his wife, 37- year-old jennifer daulton were found by a concerned friend who peered through a window. neighbors described the couple as religious and kind. >> every time it snows, charles and his wife and come over and shovel my driveway.

i would keep asking if i could pay them, and they always turned down. >> police said both children were found in their beds, shot in the head. >> mama told me this morning that she was dead. i had a little bit up tears coming down, because she was one of the best people i knew. >> 14-year-old charles dalton was a member of the football team and a junior firefighter at the mount airy barred a permit for two years. his colleagues were the ones who responded to the 911 call friday night. >> tough for everybody. our junior members were quite upset, and understandably. we brought all of them together with their parents here at the station last night and brought in the critical incident stress management team, which helps these people to deal with the grieving process and the healing process. >> neighbors and friends are all asking the same question, what could have caused all this?

>> there is preliminary information that the family may have been having financial difficulties. that is part of what art investigators are continuing to look into. >> trolls work two jobs. it did charles worked two jobs. records show the family purchased their home in 2005, but were having a hard time selling it. >> maybe he did because he could not sell his house. this was the second time he put the house on the market. >> records show he pled guilty to possession of marijuana and 1997, but police say this home was not on their radar. >> there is no indication of any kind of repeated police response to that home. no one is giving an indication of other types of problems that would have resulted in something like this. >> recount source will be at both of the children's schools when school resumes on tuesday.

>> there have been at least four other family murder-suicides in maryland in the last 2.5 years, three of them involving residents of frederick county. the baltimore county man who police said they were forced to shoot is now out of the hospital and in jail. and around mechanically said they pulled over the 25 -- 25- year-old for driving with suspended place. as an officer approached the car, they say he drove off. they spotted williams on foot feeric. >> during for his life, the officer from anne arundel county took his pistol, discharge his weapon several times, striking the suspect several times. we did not know he had actually hit the suspect, because he drove off, and thankfully did not hit the officer. >> police say mr. williams was apprehended after checking

himself into a hospital with several gunshot wounds. he is expected to survive. still no word on the person who killed an elderly man in white marsh. the victim has been identified as 74-year-old david weeks. police received a call that he was in cardiac arrest, but by the time the responded to his home, he had already died. the shooting investigation also underway in baltimore county. we are told a man believed to be in his 20s was shot around 3:30 p.m.. no arrests have been made. >> a gloomy night outside. the rain will continue into early tomorrow morning. let's take a look at the radar picture. the yellow is some of the heavy rain we are starting to see outside right now. we are not expecting any thunderstorms, but a few areas

could see heavier downpours. a quick look on temperatures. 61 now downtown, but they denied at the airport. 73 out towards ocean city. with all the cloud cover and rain, temperatures will not change a lot overnight. mostly rain in the forecast tonight, some of which can be heavy at times. we expected to taper off as we go throughout the day tomorrow. we will talk about the impact that will have on sunday in our forecast. >> iran announced it will allow an inspection of its secret nuclear facility. there are signs tonight that other countries agree it is time to get tougher. >> iran announced on saturday that its secret underground nuclear facility is almost operational, and that international inspections will be allowed.

england journal of medicine showed that the majority of american physicians want health care reform, with more than 50% of them supporting a public auction. tonight there is word that the first doses of the h1n1 flu vaccine may not be available for those who needed most. the cdc says the first batch of the vaccine will be blue mist and nasal spray, which is only recommended for healthy people ages 2-49. it is not recommended for pregnant women, who are near the top of the list to people and the -- people who need to be vaccinated first. officials coming together to help dundalk's flood victims, but one resident we spoke to said he needs more than what is being offered. and this is what is left of a car after it collided with a big rig this morning. why first responders had quite a tough task on their hands. >> lots of rain all across the region right now.

we are told that a child suffered second and third degree burns and is being treated at johns hopkins hospital. the truck driver was treated at mercy medical center. one week after a 6 foot water main break flooded more than 100 homes, a support center popped up today in dundalk. county and state staffers help homeowners before with insurance claims and financial assistance, all nonprofits provide the basics like food, clothing, and water. for one day, it was not -- one- stop shopping. they got face time with officials from county and state agencies as well as nonprofits like the salvation army and the american red cross. >> they could check in and then go from station to station, trying to get services that are available to them. >> most of the seats inside the community center were filled.

outside, volunteers handed out everything from bleach and bananas to hot, home cooked meals. red cross caseworker cindy ryan grew up in dundalk. she said she cleared her calendar to be able to come back and help. >> we are doing our best to meet with clients need, however they have been impacted. >> one resident told us about a new problem that popped up after the water had been pumped out of his home. >he says the supply is being offered here are nice gesture, but he says he is desperate for the county to come and help with a big repairs his home needs. >> basically, have to fix everything myself. hopefully we can get the county to come out and lookit this area and result as water and drainage problem. >> the red cross is determined to help residents fulfill their

basic needs right now. if you need help with clothing, food, or water, you can contact the maryland chapter. >> now, your insta-weather plus barack's. >> we started off with a little bit of sunshine, and that changed quickly this afternoon. all across the state we are seeing some of those scattered rain showers. we are starting to see that south of baltimore, some of the heavier rain showers. we are not alone as far as the rain is concerned. all down the i-95 corridor from new york city down through philadelphia and baltimore and most of virginia, everyone is seeing a very soggy saturday evening. a lot of this rain will linger into early tomorrow morning, but there is some good news about tomorrow afternoon.

here is when we expect heaviest of rain, anywhere from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. the good news here is that as we get into the afternoon hours, the rain will start to taper off a little bit. by lunchtime, we could still see a little missed in the air, but most of the nasty stuff will be when everyone is asleep. typically this time of year we see temperatures close to 75, and already we have picked up almost half an inch of rain. the rest of the night is plain and simple, just rain, heavy at times. some morning rain tomorrow as we deal with this complex area of low pressure systems that will continue to quickly make its way across the mid-atlantic and northeast. by sunday evening, we start to clear out a little bit, then we

are loading up a new system out west. that cold front will arrive here monday evening, bringing another chance for scattered rain showers and cooler temperatures as we go toward the middle of the work week. by 2:00, we start to clear out, which is good news for people at the ravens game. retail date might be little wet, but the game looks like it should be dry -- york tailgate might be a little wet. rider on the evening commute is when we expect the front to come in. for your day tomorrow, mostly cloudy, 72-79, waking up with some early morning rain. the kickoff is at 1:00 with 70 -- 72 degrees. all across the state, we will wake up with early morning rain showers and temperatures in the 70's. it will be a decent day, it would just start off a little on the soggy site.
