for years, senior citizens in northeast baltimore knew they could in fault -- enjoyed the harford senior center. >> the seniors have always claimed this facility as their run. this is their home. >> now they may lose it. >> something had to be done. >> it is set to close its doors because much of the funding it relies on is gone. it has managed to remove dirt -- and has managed to maneuver through waves of people. but robert korena and others are not sure how to sustain it now. >> it is the nature of the fiscal calamity that the federal government is in. >> the response from seniors? >> they were outraged. >> the senior center has a yearly operational budget of $157,000.

baltimore contributes $97,000. but the economic crisis has taken a toll. a baltimore reduced its contribution by $12,000 because of the budget problems. volunteers of america, which has operated the center of more than a decade, decided to pull out. that cut the budget almost in half. with such a wide funding gap, it seems the only option available is to close the center. >> this is a group of wonderful people that in some regards have been forgotten. forgotten by society. this makes them feel like they're part of something. >> city leaders are still seeking funds so that the activities can continue. >> it is unfortunate, but i am not giving up hope. >> i am not saying if we can bail out the center, but i want

to look at figuring out a way to keep it open. >> even if money is found to keep it open another year, where will the money come from unless something else is done soon? the center could close by the end of this month. barry simms, wbal tv 11 news. former maryland gov. bob ehrlich has not officially announced another run for the state house, but he is raising money. the entire family was on hand for the annual reynolds form -- reynolds farm corn roast. this morning, we caught up with the former governor after his radio show. he had this to say. >> there is a lot of people in maryland who are frustrated about taxes, regulation, about what has happened with slots, what happened with the millionaires' tax, sales tax,

one person has died after an accident on route 108 in colombia. howard county police say a woman crossed the double yellow line and sideswiped a vehicle driven by another woman. officials say she'd continue to drive on the wrong side of the road and hit a man. she was pronounced dead at the scene. the other victims were taken to howard county general hospital and are expected soon to revive -- and are expected to reap the survive. >> nice day, most of the rain was not much on the eastern shore. it is this evening that we had a thunderstorm cluster moving over delaware bay. off to the east, lightning is coming from the thunderstorm clusters in the sky. the cool front just to the west of us is trying to push off shore.
