kiss a victim from highland ave was found yesterday morning monday -- this victims from marlyn avenue was found yesterday morning. people are asking anyone in the area to come forward. an unidentified man was shot and killed shortly after 3:00 yesterday afternoon on the 2200 block of ocala ave. it comes on the third day of the new year. compared to this time last year, six homicides had already been recorded. fred bealefeld this morning spoke about the police department's success in cutting crime. >> i think we could reach it into this number in terms of the homicides and non-fatal shootings where we've made great progress by clearing more cases. especially on the non-fatal shooting site, we posted a 23% reduction, 125 and fewer people got shot in 2009 compared to

2008. we are on a 20-year lows in terms of overall violence. we can still do better. >> the commissioner says that it demonstrated success is motivating the community to get more involved in fighting crime. , and parents accused of killing a 20-month-old daughter are expected in court today. can s -- the man and his girlfriend were arrested on multiple charges for the incident on december 19 on the 20 daughter block of kentucky ave. charging documents said several injuries to her face and neck. -- that the toddler suffered several injuries to her face and neck. jurors in that mayor dixon trial continued to talk to each other on facebook. they were asked not to speak to anyone until after the hearing. however, wbal radio discovered three of the jurors communicating on facebook, joking about their relationships as recently as new year's eve.
