>> it grows on you. >> it does. it's an acquired taste. it's a little stronger than normal coffee, but i liked it. weather-wise, like i said, it would be a good day to have a hot cup of something in front of you. temperatures are in the teens in most spots. other than that, no weather problems to contend with. no wind chills to calculate. it's cold by itself. 19 at the airport. same in hagerstown. in the lower end of the teens in western maryland. the forecast today, plenty of sunshine to start. by the time you drive home from work if will be cloudy. a high temperature of around 34. tonight, a chance for a little light snow or snow flurry activity. we'll talk about that in a few minutes. >> and fairly quiet on the road. a few things to watch for. water main breaks that may cause icy conditions. we'll start in the area of cold

spring lane and falls road. at that intersection, watch for water main break repairs and icy conditions as a result. also, watch for icy spots northbound york road in towson at bosley avenue. there is a right lane closure. several issues to watch for, but volume is still on the light side. we're looking at 49 miles per hour on average. southbound 95 out of the northeast. j.f.x. in great shape, still at 61 miles per hour. and 60 miles per hour on average on the west side outer loop from 795 all the way down to 95. 795 and i-70 equally smooth. harrisburg expressway looks good. 95 at white marsh so far running smoothly at this hour. a live view of traffic on the north side of the beltway right at the harrisburg expressway. volume slowly but surely building. still no delays. that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. back to you. >> our big story this morning, the ravens head into round two after bringing home a big win. >> fans are pumped for this

saturday's game against the indianapolis colts after watching the ravens completely dominate new england. 11 news reporter rob roblin joins us live from outside m&t bank stadium with some fan reaction. >> i'll tell you what, it was a big win yesterday. a beautiful thing to watch as we dominated that game from the very beginning to the end. >> ravens' fans are more than a little excited over the team's victory over the patriots sunday afternoon. beating the pats 33-14 on new england's home turf. >> easy! >> the ravens advance in the playoffs and will go head-to-head with the colts in indianapolis on saturday. for some, it conjures up an old rivalry born when the colts departed from baltimore in 1984. >> ever since the colts left, it was like, the colts haunt baltimore. >> the fans are hoping the ravens can get rid of those ghosts in a solid win next

colts? email your response to watercooler@wbaltv.com. the trial for a baltimore city police officer accused of killing an unarmed suspect is expected to begin today. 37-year-old officer thomas sanders is charged with the voluntary and involuntary manslaughter of edward hunt after shooting him in january of 2008. sanders claimed he opened fire fearing for his life. but witnesses say he searched the suspect and found no weapon. meanwhile a 15-year-old cecil county boy will be in court today for allegedly stabbing and killing a pregnant woman. prosecutors say robert irving jr. raped and murder the woman. irvian is current irvan is currently being held without bond. >> calls for the resignation of senate majority leader harry reid after he made what many are calling racially insensitive

remarks that were detailed in a new book. but that's not the only book controversy. 11 news washington bureau reporter nikole killion explains. >> this book is called "game change." it's make something politicians like reid change their tone. harry reid now under fire in a new book for private comments he made about then senator barack obama during the 2008 presidential campaign. reportedly wowed by obama's -- he described the candidate a light-skinned african-american with, quote, no negro dialect unless he wanted to have one. over the weekend reid apologized for his comments, and the president accepted saying as far as he's concerned, the book is closed. not so for some republicans who are now calling on reid to step down as majority leader. >> there's a big double standard here. the thing about it that's interesting is that when democrats get caught saying racist things, you know, an apology is enough. >> there were comments made in the context of him praising senator obama and supporting his candidacy for president, but still, they kind of reflect the

check the seven-day forecast. for now, we'll send it back over to the news desk. >> in this morning's "medical alert," the next time you use a soda machine, you may get more than you bargain for. a study of soda taken from fountain machines in roanoke, virginia, found half of nearly all beverages had bacteria associated with fecal contamination. experts say it could still be enough to cause an upset stomach. the water and ice used in the machines were tested but showed no signs of back that bacteria. experts suspect the plafting tubing may be to blame. >> saying i do may result in a larger waistline, especially for women. researchers studied 6,000 australian women over a 10-year period. they found the more comfortable you are with the person, experience no complaints about

>> good morning. sarah caldwell checking on your morning commute. let's see what's going on. a couple of water main breaks and icy spots. watch for this at falls road and coldspring lane. same in towson, northbound york road at bosley avenue. right lane is closed there. use extra caution in those locations. fire activity in the city. as far as your drive times and speed sensors, we are up to speed at this time. a pretty easy ride overall on the major roadways. let's look at a few of them starting with liberty, west side. checking out fine heading down towards edmondson no. delays yet. but can you see volume is building ever so slightly. we'll switch over to a live view of 97. so far so good north and southbound on 97. that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. let's get the latest on the buses and the trains. for that we go to kurt kronke of the m.t.a.

significant amount of times yesterday, i think seven exactly, they gave away a free pet adoption. and still up for adoption today because the ravens did so well is skipper. skipper is all decked out this morning. >> skipper is one of the animals we selected on one of the many times the ravens scored. skipper is 10 years old so has been sitting for a while. we sleblghted him to go home, adoption-fee waived. he's still available today. >> you did really well with it, too. you still have work to be done. poor skipper needs a good home at age 10. how many did you give out? >> we had a good adoption day. we had about 15 adoptions on a sunday. a lot of people showed up. the animals were all dressed up in little ravens ban danas. it was a big party. it was a lot of fun. >> this front office is completely decked out. and they have the goods for your animals. how about this pet t-shirt for the ravens.

if they have an outdoor home, you don't want to leave them out there too long. just common sense. mid teens in most spots up north. it's 15 in taneytown. when you get closer to the city and near the water it warms up a little bit. that's typically the case. right now we have clear skies. the little clipper system that sandra was talking about is approaching from the west. eventually this is going to produce some light snow for us. i don't think this is going to be a big deal by any means. we could get some light snow or flurries as this system crosses over the mountains tonight and into maybe early tuesday morning. for baltimore and the immediate metro area, just a snow shower and flurry with the dusting possible in a couple of spots. but if you're traveling out into the mountains or western pennsylvania there could be a couple inches of snow out there. really this is not going to be a significant event if you're traveling around tonight. the roads are going to be just fine. forecast today, sunshine to started. the clouds thicken up as that system approaches from the west. the high temperature only 34 degrees. cloudy skies, light snow or snow

flurries. low temperatures drop back into the mid 20's. a northwest wind at about 10 miles per hour. future cast, 7:00 tomorrow. still see some snow in the mountains there. could be snow flurries around baltimore as well. most of the day on tuesday will be just fine but cold. there will be another system pass by to our north. this one's going to miss us on wednesday. some lake effect snow and some heavier snow showers in portions of the northeast. while we'll remain dry there will be snow to our north and to the east. the forecast like this, 34 today, 33 on tuesday with a chance for snow flurries early in the morning. then we start to warm up. some sunshine wednesday and thursday. the high temperature near 40 on wednesday. upper 40's on thursday and friday. that will feel nice. chance for a few rain showers as the cold front goes by. it could be a mix of rain and snow again. we'll send it back over to the news desk. >> 498 feel like the new 70.
