>> in this fiscal crisis, they could not go untouched. >> of the cuts include the layoffs of over 600 city employees. 120 are in the police department, 91 and the fire department, seven city firehouses, and 29 of the city's rec centers will also close. the idea of closing those rec centers is causing an outcry. we're live at city hall with the very latest. >> program organizers are saying that if he cut recreation and parks, prepare for a spike in crime. these wrecks centers are what is keeping many kids out of trouble and off the streets. these kids are bored or for clues from a mock crime scene preparing to help solve the case. >> i am playing a lawyer. >> as much crime as we see in baltimore, i am glad to see teenagers involved at this

program. >> they worry it may fall victim to budget cuts. >> they would be out on the corners causing trouble and police would be dealing with them in another way. >> there is a preliminary plan that calls for closing 29 of the recreation centers. >> the cuts are devastating. >> taking away after-school activities would be beyond devastating for many teenagers. >> they would be pregnant or in trouble in the future. it would be a shame. what the mayor needs to do and what the city needs to do is to talk about public safety. >> this is a good experience for me. >> we should not cut programs that would help a lot of single parents that lane on the recreation center to support them.

another delay in the trial of twin brothers accused of setting fire to a pit bull. they were supposed to go on trial today. their father who is also charged decided to have a judge decide his fate. prosecutors will wait until his trial concludes before going after the brothers. the police say they have so the rape case for nearly rigid from nearly seven years ago using dna. the 31-year-old faces charges of first-degree rape in the attack of the 13 year-old girl. the victim was walking home on july 2 of 2003 when she was attacked. dna recently linked bellamy to that crime. >> charges are pending against the driver of a tractor-trailer that collided with a train yesterday. investigators say 53-year-old mark caused the crash when he drove into the train's path. the driver remains hospitalized

scattered showers breaking out. pretty decent rain being forecast during the friday morning rush hour. there is that little bit of snow on the northern fringe of this precipitation. the rain is ending friday afternoon. saturday looks like it will be a sunny day with temperatures coming down after tomorrow. 64-69 thursday, when out of the south 6-12. they will have more rain a little earlier. 67, dry weather at ocean city until very late tomorrow night. there is a small craft advisory up to the day, increasing out of the south. bay water temperatures are hovering right about 50. it will turn chillier with 49. sunny skies on saturday.
