medical alert. and one person remains in the hospital after suffering from a significant drop in blood pressure. he was taken after a severe nosebleed. the county executive did not lose consciousness. he is a large. he will likely be held overnight just for observation. >> the report is in on the effectiveness of the crime cameras. according to the city state's attorney's office, they are useful in prosecuting criminals. last year there were several arrests due to crime footage. 300 cases were dismissed. statistics show the cameras do not reduce crime. last year there was a 10% crime deduction in areas with crime coverage. in 2008, it was a 27% reduction with no cameras. the state's attorney's office says they lead to mostly

misdemeanor drug charges and a few from gun violence. according to the lawyer of a 17 year-old boy now on trial, it will be the crime cameras that will get his client off. he is accused of firing a bullet that critically injured a five year-old girl last summer. we have that report. >> we are waiting to see all the evidence. i will say to the juror what i said in an open about lamont davis. >> defense attorneys are reacting after a day of opening statement and the state's first witnesses. it included two police officers, because of of the five year-old girl, and a witness to the shooting. she testified to have shade and the girl was walking together when she was shot and late in the street in a pool of her own blood. the testimony came from a witness to the shooting. she testified she witnessed the

mother of this child fighting with a boy. a group of boys defended to fend him. -- to defend him. she asked if she knew who the shooter was. she said dannell. the stated then admitted a sworn statement that she gave to detective a day after the shooting where davis was identified as the shooter by branch. opening statement said that dna and video evidence as well as witness' testimony will show that davis was the shooter. the defense countered this saying that their defense will say the opposite. a gps device that davis was wearing will show that he was home at the time of the shooting. >> some state employees will be testifying that on the gps monitoring. the vice president of the company will be here. >> and we spoke exclusively with

his planning department to immediately stop their work on the project and have a court order or a referendum. wbal tv 11 news. >> the budget battle continues in annapolis and the gop is not happy. the house preliminarily approved the budget after rejecting every single amendment introduced by republicans. house members complained that it does not go far enough in addressing future deficits. they warn of dire consequences for every maryland family if more cuts are not made. >> $6.6 billion structural deficits over the next four years. divide that out among maryland families. that is $3,000 per family. >> a final vote on his budget proposal could come as early as tomorrow. >> president obama continues his hard sell on health care reform today. he stopped in southern maine to promote the new law and

campaigned. the legal strategists expect health care reform to play a major role in the november election. >> i think this midterm is dramatically different than what we have seen in the past. some americans are paying attention very early on in, regardless of their party or their beliefs. >> gallup polls show republicans inching ahead of democrats in midterm elections. the voters shifted towards republicans which is pretty rare. the last time it happened, the gop had a strong finish on election day. when the health care reform law goes into effect, it will include dental care for all americans. a reporter spoke with a local congressman who has been pushing for that. and she spoke with a family who will benefit. >> she and her daughter are taking advantage of the dental care at the university of maryland dental school. >> all the work that i have received has been under reduced

cost, which makes it affordable. i do not have to read about the cost. >> she is hoping that will spread to people across the country with the health care reform bill when it goes into effect. >> our goal is to try to make our health care accessible and affordable to everybody in the state. >> elijah cummings pushed for a state program to make sure children have access to dental care. the bill will increase that access to adults and strengthen state programs. >> the state will have to figure out exactly what they will continue to do and how they will do it. but this will complement and supplement their program. >> the new federal program will also pay for increased routine prevented visits to the dentist. >> prevention is -- i cannot even begin to describe how important it is. the end of spending much more less money, create fewer

down a prominent abortion doctor has been sentenced to life in prison. he used his sentencing today justify his crime by describing abortion in gritty detail. he said he killed the doctor to save the lives of unborn children. >> his death lies more with the state of kansas than me. the state of kansas of secured protection for the slaughter in of these children. >> he will have to wait 50 years for eligibility for parole. from hospital room to a jail cell. that is the story of an officer accused in the shooting of ft. hood. last november, he is paralyzed after allegedly killing 13
