and traffic. >> the average temperature is 61. right now it is a 65. we will have the possibility for a couple of light rain showers. a weak system is coming through. it 30% chance you'll run into a brief shower or sprinkle. sunshine this afternoon. take a look at the forecast. a high temperature of 85 degrees. 25 degrees above average for this time of year. we will not break the record which is 90 degrees. it is very impressive nonetheless. seven-day forecast in a few minutes. >> we got word of police activity southbound on the year as part expressway. all lanes are temporarily blocked southbound so take york road. hopefully that will be cleared shortly.

fine for not notifying the government quick enough about defective gas pedals. here are more details. >> good morning. transportation secretary ray lahood says his agency has proved that toyota knew about the sticky gas pedal last fall, but did not issue a recall until january of this year. in the middle of an advertising blitz shifting public opinion, to yield to get slapped with a record $16.4 million fine. it is the maximum possible and the largest ever for waiting too long to alert authorities in drivers that sticky gas pedals could be a safety problem. >> oracle is to make sure that the vehicles are 100% safe. >> secretary ray lahood announced it monday, after millions of recalls of toyota vehicles. the president of toyota tried to

explain what led to the defect in several vehicles. >> [unintelligible] >> the fine is all about being too slow. the agency says it has proved that toyota failed to live up to its legal obligations. he says they knowingly hid a dangerous defect four months from u.s. officials, and did not take action to protect millions of drivers and their families. in a statement, a toyota did not indicate if it would contest the fine. they said we have already taken a number of important steps to improve our communications with regulators and customers as part of our strengthened overall commitment to quality assurance. >> two has a couple of weeks to contest this fine, which would be the largest civil penalty the government has ever given a car company. wbal-tv.

a problem southbound on the a rosburg expressway. police activity block in the south bound lane -- harris for expressway. -- harrisburg expressway. police activity blocking the southbound lane has cleared. an accident clearing in dundalk. a water main break at sharp street. otherwise, we are doing quite well on the north side of the beltway, 11 minutes there. here is a live view of traffic. this is in the harrisburg expressway in mount carmel. no delays from the maryland line down toward the beltway. things are looking good here at

the bay bridge. no delays heading into the toll plaza. let's get the latest on the buses and trains. >> we have a delay on the penn line with a 10 minute delay. the other is running on schedule. metro subway also on time. the 44 bus with a 30 minute delay. and the 21 bus with a couple of diversions. i am reporting for the mta transit team. now back to tony pann. >> it is pretty quiet this tuesday morning. a slight chance he may run into a brief shower or sprinkle. 30% mark. if you're watching near hagerstown, some light shower activity is going on right now.

this will continue for the next hour or so. things will clear up after that. we will have a sunny afternoon. a warm front across the great lakes and beckoned to the northeast. this is the dividing line. we will stay on the warm side of this front. see this activity lined up, most of it northwest. most of it will stay north of us as we head into the morning hours. the sun will break out. a little bit of cloud cover. you can see the west to east movement there. sunshine this afternoon. temperatures will jump into the mid 80's. we are already at 65 degrees. 59 in chestertown. the forecast for today, clouds

and a slight chance for rain showers early this morning. the high temperature of around 85 degrees. 25 degrees above the seasonal norm. the record high temperature is 90. mostly clear tonight and mild. low temperatures in the upper 50's and low 60's. more of the same for wednesday. in south winds will come in. temperatures in the upper 80's. some thunderstorms on thursday to close out the work week. then it will cool off. 85 today. 86 tomorrow. thunderstorms possible late thursday. on friday, a chance for rain showers in the forecast. it will be much cooler. high temperatures only around 60 degrees. it will not be a washout situation. saturday and sunday look dry but cool.
