maryland said he will not seek another term in office. he has served as state prosecutor for the past six years. he oversaw the prosecution of baltimore mayor sheila dixon. he says he will resign on september 1, the end of his term. >> police have a registered sex offender in custody after he allegedly tried to abduct a 15- year-old girl. the victim's father fly down an officer, alleging michael lee roy thomas tried to snatch his daughter who was luckily able to get away. it happened in southwest baltimore. police arrested thomas at his woodlawn home. he has been a registered sex offenders is 2005. >> baltimore city police have charged a man in the beating death of his two-year-old daughter. i-team reporter barry simms has details for us. >> he told police he was trying

to discipline his daughter. he has now been charged in her death. we learned he has made other alleged threats of violence. >> the dogs remain in the backyard. apparently, they were not supposed to come in the house. now there owner is at central booking for what one of his neighbors called discipline gone bad. actions against his own daughter lead to child abuse and murder charges. >> he was disciplining the child because the child left the -- let the dogs in the house. apparently, the family had two dogs and they were left outside. when the child but then in, he became angry. he stated to us that he already told the little girl not to let them in. >> inside the house, police found the two-year-old unresponsive saturday. initially, the father had told them he left her in the shower

for alarm fire that damaged for businesses in annapolis >> it broke out between two buildings near the state house. the >> late this afternoon, the annapolis fire department did release the cause of that fire. it was a smoking product dropped accidentally whenever you have -- dropped accidentally. whenever you have a fire down here in the historic district is a big deal because it can spread so quickly. >> and four-alarm fire garnered major response. >> saturday i was down the street at the studio getting my hair cut and someone came in and said there is a fire in one of the buildings up the street. >> next door at the smoke shop, the damage will take a long time to clean out. >> we have insurance. it is going to affect me in a way that i will spend a long
