state fuel home inspector studied -- discovered 40 bodies min for cremation piled up in a garage. the state has suspended the operating licence of the owner, william chambers. >> we are very sorry for this situation that has occurred. we will keep praying very hard that we can get ourselves out of this. >> the president of the state board of morticians and funeral directors saw photographs from the garage. >> it was overwhelming. dismaying and shocking. >> what may also be shocking, in maryland, one inspector is responsible for the state's roughly 500 funeral homes, and just last year, state law changed so that inspections happen once every two years instead of every year. we wanted to know, is that enough to ensure that what allegedly happened at chambers does not happen elsewhere? >> if this department, this agency felt there was a real

>> the baseball world has lost one of its premier bourses with the passing of ernie halwell. his with and casual delivery became a standard of excellence for the industry. he retired in 2002 after serving as the detroit tigers play-by- play man for 42 years. he died of cancer yesterday, just one day before he was expected to accept a lifetime achievement award. he was 92 years old. the baltimore ravens or in the process of installing a new field at the m&t bank stadium. the new field is called momentum 51 and has the safest and most consistent playing surface in the nfl. you may have noticed no permanent logos. that allows the stadium to host multiple events.

some are on medications to help control behavioral issues. autism affects about one in 110 children in the united states. women over the age of 35 might be eligible to test a new type of mammogram being offered in several cities. it provides a 3 d image of breast tissue. diana gonzalez has the story from one of those test cities, miami for a. >> the women's imaging center, one of 10 sites in the country testing the system. while it looks like a regular mammogram machine, multiple images are recorded of the breast. >> it takes a three-dimensional image of the breast, and we literally looked through the breast page by page, millimeter by millimeter. >> those images are then looped into a movie that takes you through breast tissue. in this case, revealing a cancerous mass.

milder temperatures, 56-63 for the low. the weak front coming our way is one system we have to watch as it passes through. most of that storms look like they will stay in northern pennsylvania and upstate new york into new england. there'll be another little weather disturbance coming out of northern rockies as we head into the weekend, but it will mostly stay to the north along the canadian border. there is that little front tomorrow morning. south of us, it will encounter more humid, warmer air and parts of the eastern shore and over to the corporatcoast. another system begins its approach friday evening. we will stay dry during the day friday and into the early evening. late friday night and saturday morning the second system has a chance to bring us some scattered showers.

other top stories at this hour. a funeral home is shut down after inspectors find dozens of bodies that were supposed to be cremated stacked in a pile in a garage. the license was suspended. a total of 40 bodies were found. the funeral home has until friday to dispose of the bodies as promised, and then after that it will be closed. >> new details in the murder of yeardley love. sources tell nbc news they are looking into possible death threats her boyfriend may have sent her over text message. in 2008 he was arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest. they were both star lacrosse players. three people were killed and 01 car accident in western maryland. police said the only survivor

postal worker and veteran is using education to beat the odds. he is a single father of two who may have reason to be on cloud nine. tim tooten joins us from the newsroom with that story. >> he is just weeks away from getting his associate of arts degree from howard college. he is adding another educational and other to his cat. >> i always liked school but i never took it seriously -- adding another feather to his cap. >> peter is a man on a mission, one that continues on the campus of howard community college. >> i never thought i would be in school. i figured i would work for another 10 years until about the age of 55 and then go to an island or something like that and live the good life. >> he has more than 20 years in a career at the postal service. his career came to an end in a matter of seconds.
