shot a number of times. and kim is live with the latest there. >> the friends and family say it was 40-year-old lee martin who was shot and killed early this morning. he owned the hops inn next door to his home in the 700 block of railway avenue. police say she was shot as many as nine times. he was taken to bay view medical center where he was pronounced dead. the police are not sure of the motive for the murder. it is one of the most serious crimes in the area. >> i'm shocked. this was break-ins and things but never anything this big. that's the worst so far. it is awful. >> police say two black males with seen running from the area at the time of the shooting but right now they have no suspects. reporting live. wbal-tv 11 news. >> and meanwhile homicide detectives have their hands busy with another deadly shooting.

police say an unified man was found shot shortly before midinate and pronounced dead shortly after. tho word on the suspect or possible motive. a night on the town ends with a baltimore city police officer opening fire. police say the responded to a car alarm and found the suspect inside the off duty vehicle. it happened in the unit block of che street and the officer opened fire after noticing a knife-like object. >> no struggle once the individual tried to approach the officer and reach for a weapon, he fired a defensive shot and incapacitated him. >> and the suspect remains at shock trauma. the unidentified officer is a 10-year veteran, this is the fourth city involved shooting this year compared to eight this time last year. >> the man who was shot in northeast baltimore last night is being treated at a hospital. the man was shot several times along the 2700 block of ohabra

avenue. >> the police are ruling the death of an -year-old that fell into a stream an accident. it happened behind the 1300 block of harford town drive. police say 8-year-old justin wilson and a 7-year-old were skipping rocks when justin fell into the water. we're told after failed attempts to save his friend, the 7-year-old ran home for help. justin was taken to the hospital, but died shortly after. >> take a rook at the doppler radar. it is interesting, since this morning. we had considerable sun break action during the late morning and early afternoon, which allowed temperatures to warm up. now running right up to the west shore of the bay, we have rain shower activity, that initial right at the leading edge may not make it to the ground, but

>> it is more than a month since an oil rig caused a massive oil leak but v.p. is days away from capping the well. >> clean-up teams are doing what they can to get some of the oil out of the marsh land along the southern edge of louisiana. >> some of the environment is no easily amenable to cleaning up. >> huge clouds of oil are pouring out of the fractured well head. as v.p. continues to move vessels into the site and preparing for a tp kill. the process they hope to use to stop the flow. by pumping mud into the leak to jam it and sealing the riser with cement. initially set for sunday, the engineers say they won't be ready until tuesday at the earliest. another setback if so many along the gulf coast who have already been waiting for more than a month now. >> i sense frustration on the part of anyone iran the gulf coast and even around the country. it -- at what this oil spill brings to everybody.

>> third year and we're getting more people involved, people talk about it, get friend my competition. it is all to benefit maryland food banks. that's easy to get people involved. >> and nearly 25,000 pounds of food has been donated since the competition began in 2008. all structures will remain on display through memorial day weekend. a more city street shut down in the name of eating and shopping. the 300 block of north charles street was shut down from noon to 5:00. retail stores and restaurants set up shot outside all day. the event was called, let's eat charles street and many businesses involved say it was a great way to gain new customers, the first time north charles street was ever shut down for this type of occasion. elevated arson levels, swann park in south baltimore is reopen to the public. visitors at today's grand opening enjoyed nice weather

while taking part in the activities. swann park opened in 1904 and was named after former mayor thomas swann. >> weather forecast, with meteorologist john collins. >> we'll look at the doppler radar and sprinkles in baltimore county and here's the city and beltway on the radar and a little darker green shades to the west. once you get west of 29 and howard county and down in montgomery county, you get rain showers. and parts of frederick county east of frederick, southward, and toward pullsville and then down to the west of the district. there's no thunder and lightning in this, it is just rain shower activity. this is the heaviest where it is yellow and lighter rain shower in howard county. few sprinkles west of that. this is moving eastward and once it comes in, we'll have rain chances on again and off again for the next day or two. let's look at what happened today.

we got a fair share of sun and the temperatures went beyond what we thought they would. there was sunshine mixed in. the airport and inner harbour made it to 79. and 66 and 67 and the respective lows and in rain measured yet there. it is just west. typically this time of year 76 would be the high. see the warmer temperatures slightly, mid 70's on the eastern shore where they still have sun breaks developing. and further west you go where it is raining and temperatures dropped at 72 at frederick and westminster and the district is 72. and a bay breeze coming in to affect it. and ocean city, 66 degrees. and temperatures in the 50's and 60's in western maryland where it has cloudier all day and they had rain shower activity. this is the latest satellite picture. and on the eastern shore there, these are building up. they're quite convective, they're not producing rain yet but we're seeing the cloud build

up and that's west of the bay. no thunder and hinet. that's occurring up around pittsburgh, where they're getting pretty good thunderstorms cells up there and it looks like these cells play produce lightning a little later to boot. now the weather system driving this is a weakening low-pressure system which is coming from the west. it'll become an upper air system and becomee the best way is a lazy storm over the next couple of days. there's high pressure over the atlantic which is making this a slow move and it'll take a while to come through. monday we have a rain rain chance. and the hurricane season starts in june and the upper air conditions are not conducive to letting a hurricane develop. but this tropical wave will move closer to the coast. it is a signature we look for, where we say we're getting close to the hurricane season. and cloudy skies tonight and scattered showers and east

northwest winds. and 50e6, 64 for the low. and 70 for the high tomorrow. and again a hot of clouds and again scattered showers, doesn't look like major storms. and east winds at 7 to 12 miles an hour. so the breeze will pick up once again. seven-day forecast again monday that rain chance and tuesday morning, maybe more showers and the rain eases on out. look at weapons and thursday and friday. we're back in the 80's for highs and essentially dry, but by the end of the day friday and saturday, a few scattered showers and thunderstorms return to the forecast. >> now 11 sports with pete gilbert. >> the scenario set up perfectly for maryland. the third seed, facing a team they never failed to beat. and the 2350eu7b8 -- final four to be played in more a -- and many moves hair he scores.
