in an apartment. they were found unresponsive on saturday morning. police say the apartment was in significant disarray. it is unclear as the condition of the bomb was connected to the child's death. dodge the suspect shot by a baltimore city officer is in shock trauma tonight. he found the suspect in said of his car. -- inside of his car. he shot the suspect in the leg when he saw what appeared to be a knife like weapon. charges are now pending against the suspect. the officer is a 10-year veteran of the force. >> the proposal to tax some beverage can -- and beverage containers would remedy some of the city's budget problems.

the city council broke with the mayor and decided to bottle the idea. the approach -- the proposal is on tonight's agenda. we have the latest. >> used all my line, i was going to say the bottle tax hasn't gone flat yet -- you stole my line. it has not gone flat yet. it according to the agenda, it has a favorable outlook. >> it was just last week to announce the key money maker in the proposed budget plan led by city council president jack young. the publicly but not officially rejected the proposal of a 4 cent tax on certain bottled beverages that the mayor's office that would generate more than $11 million. it was thought that some other ideas including taxing slot machines around the city and billboards would make just as much money and be a better alternative. it turns out their figures were

a little off, and once again, it appears the bottle taxes looking like an interesting option. there are also a number of ideas that are being put forth by a number of city council members. i believe president jackie on those looking at taxing various vacant properties, another idea would be raising taxes on cable television. those will be brought up tonight. the bottle tax will be debated in the next couple of minutes. we will have more later. >> the state attorney general's office is weighing in on controversy surrounding a radio show. democratic party officials complained, saying that the radio show violates campaign finance laws and should be considered an illegal campaign contribution. the assistant attorney general

showers east of town with the wind coming in of 5 miles an hour. it is with a combination of high pressure over new england and the storm of the south atlantic coast that follows that east wind. the pattern is the old tomorrow morning and start to break down with hot weather over the midwest. some of that heat and humidity will be building in our direction in the middle of the week. 's decrease in clouds are the afternoon, adding in the wednesday and thursday, temperatures may close to 90 degrees in parts of the mid- atlantic. the chance for showers or thunderstorms will return as well. 77-82 tomorrow after the morning clouds and fog burned off. the east wind at 5-10 should hit about 70 tuesday afternoon with sunshine breaking through the early morning cloud cover. some fog in the morning on the lower eastern shore and a little afternoon sun.

of unidentified men were seen running from the scene. >> preliminary numbers from the fbi show violent crime in the u.s. was down for a third straight year. last year pose a decline amounted to a 5.5% drop compared to 2008. the biggest decline was in the south, down 6.6%. robbery, murder, aggravated assault and forcible rape fall under the violent crime category. property crime fell for a seventh straight year. this comes as the justice department visits maryland and helps with leaving it with some new crime-fighting ideas. they met with leaders of the governor's office, they want to learn more about the program contributing to the historic crime reduction. this includes the-board system that provides officers instant access to dozens of law enforcement databases, and
