for a baltimore attorney continues tonight. >> ed looks like no one will declare victory in that race until the absentee ballots are counted. final numbers show gregg berstein leads patricia jessamy by 1300 votes. >> if you need any proof that your vote counts, take a look at this race. gregg berstein looks poised to unseat patricia jessamy. gregg berstein cast his ballot on tuesday along with 18% of baltimore city residents. it's a big board of elections nearly a full day to release complete returns, making the state's attorney's race too close to call. the tally stalled at 97% of the city's precincts. according to election officials,

city election judges forgot to turn in the memory cards from 82 judgment -- voting machines. patricia jessamy spent the day meeting with advisers. >> they have cut expressed some concerns that there were tapes missing that had not been incorporated into the total count. >> officials track down the cards at a dozen polling places. there is nothing suspicious about the slow accounting. >> when you have election night, it is not uncommon to not be at 100%. >> 20 hours after the polls closed, officials released the official results. he had a lead of nearly 1300 votes. still, neither camp is calling the race until an estimated 2200 absentee ballots are counted. >> once we know that the numbers

[applause] more than 15 hours after primary polls closed and after exchanging congratulatory voice mails, kevin cabinet publicly called him to support his campaign as he now faces a republican in the november election for baltimore county executive. >> it is time that we put our differences behind us. i reach out to everyone in baltimore county to heal our divisions and join together because once again, i believe that we will be democrats united. >> in a concession statement, he said, i would like to thank all of my supporters, friends, and family. he goes on to say, i am proud of the campaign that we ran. there is no mention of an endorsement after a race often described as a bidder. republican nominee has already firing shots for running a ugly

primary campaign. >> he focused on joe's record 20 years ago. then he distorted the record. i think that was entirely unfair. i think really very inappropriate and off the mark for this campaign. >> he made no apologies. >> look, it is the same message they gave to my kids. there is a winner and a loser in every ball game. it is not a reflection on either team. someone has to win and someone has to lose. >> he says he plans to meet with him about their future. his campaign did not comment on a meeting or the possibility of any endorsement. the results and the race for governor comes as no surprise. bob ehrlich will take on martin o'malley in november. right now, it appears that many voters do not see a difference between the two parties.

injured in the shooting. police have a very limited description of the suspect. he was wearing a black ski mask. >> i heard some gunshots outside. >> he was inside his liquor store when shots rang out in broad daylight. according to police, a security guard during routine patrols all two men trying to rob the pharmacy. the guard confronted the man and saw they had weapons and fired multiple shots. >> the two suspects fled the location. one of them was caught by a baltimore city police officer. he was taken into custody. >> but the second suspect is still on the run. police recovered one weapon. all witnesses did not want to go on camera told the news that he she saw a man running across a parking lot wearing a mask. >> it is scary. >> other shoppers were inside nearby stores, scared to come out. >> i do not know what happened i

just rely of commotion. everybody was running toward the front of the store. >> the front door of the nearby cleaners was shot out and shattered glass littered the sidewalk. he is grateful the security guard was in the right place at the right time. >> he did a very good job. we rely on him. >> the security card is technically called a special police officer. he is authorized by the police department to do limited police type work. it's just so happens that the company is owned by a baltimore police detective. please tell me that they are doing some investigation into the security guards credentials. >> testimony continues today in the trial of three men charged with murdering former councilman ken harris. so far none of the witnesses who have testified have been able to pinpoint the three defendants at the scene of the crime.

an attorney believes the witnesses are struggling to identify the defendants based solely on fax from the night in question. >> my problem is that these witnesses are testifying based on assumptions. based on conjecture. >> the witnesses referred to a halloween mask of a school that was used during the lot -- during a robbery. some of today's testimony contradicted the surveillance tape. >> one person was killed following a crash in hanover. hanover county police said the two cars crashed at the intersection of i-295 and had never wrote. the cause of the accident is under investigation. scary moments for some students at a high school this morning. after a body was found in the area of the school's campus. student and faculty at long beach high school were put on lockdown.

police investigated the incident. the body has yet to be identified and the cause of death is still unknown. two people are recovering tonight after fire tore through their baltimore county home. it started inside a storage shed of the 300 block of tudor wrote in catonsville. both victims are expected to survive. there is no word yet on what caused the fire. >> a proposal to build a wal- mart in the remington neighborhood has sparked debate. walmart would serve as an anger store any mixed use development. -- an anger store. -- anchor store. >> we are concerned because we have looked at all of the impact of biggs balk -- big box retailers around the country on urban communities. we're not happy with what we have learned. >> they are asking the baltimore county land-use committee for several conditions if walmart
