residents are moving forward. >> good even. we are on mcshane way. a year ago today was one of the several streets in dundalk that was under water. the homes here were flooded. they had no power. some of the residents we talked to today, well, they're still a bit traumatickized from that day. we didn't have to remind them this was the year anniversary. a 72-inch main break underneath browning highway at 4:00 p.m. the water washed away part of the road, cascaded down dundalk avenue and made its way down to the neighborhoods. the water was at least knee-high, chest-high seeping into basements. 100 homes were affected and dozens of cars. today, the spot of the break has been fixed and bavd over but the flood -- paved over but the flood is causing people pain, especially those who did not have insurance or did not have the right insurance. tonight at 11:00 p.m., we'll

cover both sides of the story. some were lucky, may had the right insurance and are doing okay today. others are still paying are if it. we'll have that for you tonight at 11:00 p.m. >> thank you, george. in harford county, a family is mourning the loss of a teenager struck by a car and killed. 14-year-old joseph paul d'entremont was hit shortly before 10:00 p.m. last night on route 24 and red pump road. according to police, the boy was hit in the crosswalk while there was a no-crossing signal. police say the driver, robin alester monaco, stayed at the scene. to baltimore city and a deadly assault on a woman in her home. police say it happened last night in the 1500 block of north stricker street. 66-year-old cecilia mitchell suffered injuries in the head and pronounced dead at shock

trauma. homicide detectives are questioning a family member. >> an overnight shooting in park will have has a man in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound in the leg. it happened just after midnight. officers say the 26-year-old victim is recovering at sinai hospital and gave mow word on a possible suspect or motive in the case. officials with john hopkins hospital tell us the doctor shot on thursday is in fair condition tonight. police say dr. david cohen was shot on the eighth floor of the nelson building by paul pardus who barricaded himself inside his mother's hospital room, shot her, then took his life. 911 calls made during the incident were released on friday. >> 911! we need 911. a shooting on nelson eight. >> okay. >> 9! >> calm down. has anybody been shot? >> i don't know.

i work for physical therapy. we heard gunshots. >> wow. police tell us the department and hospital officials are investigating mr. pardus' history and working to determine if crucial details may have been overlooked. we have posted the 911 calls in their entirety on our web site, wbaltv.com. hurricane igor is on track for bermuda, creating high winds and rough surf. to get ready, locals are gathering supplies and boarding up homes while vacationers are trying to leave before the storm hits some time on sunday. igor's forecasted path forced royal caribbean to change the destination for enchantment of the seas that departs from baltimore. it is now heading to the bahamas. b.p.'s blown-out well in the gulf of mexico could be hours away from being permanently sealed, that is the word from the gulf tonight.

one final test and then they start cementing, killing that well for good. >> 152 days in and b.p. engineers say it's still going to take a few more hours before the fractured deep water horizon well is officially closed forever. 74 barrels of cement have been pumped in and set. strsts are working -- scientists are working through another test, applying 15,000 pounds of pressure to the seal to make sure it holds. on the surface, no test is needed. the pressure is definitely growing. >> why couldn't they do something before it got here. >> anger fueled by the oil, even though it hasn't flowed for more than two months now. while that permanent seal on the well is a violates step, there are some areas, like in this parish, where it's as important, the oil washing in and wearing away the marsh. >> it's like it keeps coming.

b.w.i. marshall. 71 up near the state line. we did top out with a high today of 76 degrees at both the airport and inner harbor so a couple of degrees above the normal high, one degree above the normal of 77 degrees. we started with chilly temperatures, 50 degrees in the morning. this time of year you see a wide temperature spread and that's what we'll see tomorrow, as well. tonight, chilly again, mid 50s in outlying areas, 62 downtown with clear skies and school conditions. the forecast statewide tomorrow, the mountains of western maryland a high in the mid 70s with a mix of clouds and sun so we'll call it packer. here in baltimore, again, mostly sunny skies, beautiful, 82 degrees and winds light out of the south at 5 miles an hour. for the shore, 77 degrees, but rip currents will be an issue because of hurricane igor which is affecting bermuda tonight. as far as our bay, things are

calm, south winds at the 5 knots and waves turning up to a foot for sunday. we are watching the movement of the front, a week cold front that will drop temperatures a couple of degrees heading into monday and tuesday. monday and tuesday will be much like today after surging into the low 80s tomorrow. the other big weather news is hurricane igor, a category two storm. the winds are 100 miles per hour, expected to affect bermuda late tomorrow night into monday morning. it's moving to the northwest at 14 miles per hour and will ultimately turn to the north. bermuda in trouble, for sure, with igor, with hurricane-force winds extending 90 miles out from the center of the still major hurricane. for us, things are quiet and calm over the seven-day forecast. monday and tuesday, in the upper

70s. the high pressure which will set up shop moves off shore wednesday, allowing for return flow and increase in the humidity. so mid to upper 80s wednesday. thursday and friday, mid 80s and another front cools us down next weekend. >> the closest thing maryland has to a real football rival, the kind that even before you finish saying mountaineers has the terps dander up is west virginia. fortunately, the schools renewed the series and offered an interesting game in morgantown. terps, first half, proved unmitigated disaster thanks to a kid that turned maryland down. 7-0, west virginia. and moments later, same connection, only made easier, goodness gracious, uncovered is austin on the same route. defensive breakdown.
