the statement that it happened to every maryland family and business is not true. not everyone is a landowner. >> he increased college tuition by 40%. >> that is true, but they are set by the board of regents and not the governor. ehrlich cut state aid to the university system knowing they could raise money from other sources including tuition. >> made $2.5 million working for lobbying firms. >> that is the combined income. the largest share comes from carlisle. the ehrlichs hosted a radio show. he advertises himself as a full business law practice. he has not -- he is not a registered lobbyist. bob ehrlich released the television ad he calls "the road map for maryland."

call to 911. >> police responded to a call placed by the suspect indicating she was involved in an assault with her aunt. >> they arrested the 34-year- old simmonds and she is charged with murder and assault. she is accused of beating her and with this the steering wheel club device. >> she was struck repeatedly with the device generally used to secure the steering wheels. >> according to court documents, after dialing 911 at simmons said, "my aunt is lying on the floor dying because i hit her with the club. i heard my antenna i do not know why -- i hurt my aunt and i don't know why." they found her with the blood on her face and clothes. >> homicide detectives

responded and interviewed her on the scene. we are fairly confident she is in the the person responsible for the accident. >> at the home where the attack happened, a woman had no comment. neighbors say she was a nice woman who always spoke to them. they call the situation "extremely sad." detectives still have no idea what caused her to strike her aunt. >> this is still preliminary. we do not have any indication of motive at this time. again, the suspect was taken into custody and i am sure more will develop. >> a bill review hearing is set for tomorrow. reporting live from east baltimore, barry simms, wbal-tv 11 news. >> the doctor shot at johns hopkins is improving. dr. cohen has been upgraded to good condition. detectives say he was shot in the abdomen after briefing the man about his mother's medical

condition. he shot and killed his mother and then turned the gun on himself. >> tonight, jurors in the first of several trials in the murder for hire death have reached a verdict. lisa robinson is following the case and joins us live with the very latest. >> of the jury took less than two hours to convict him of first-degree murder and conspiring to kill her husband. >> we are pleased with the outcome. this was a difficult case. it is clearer that the defendant was not present at the scene of the crime, but we felt he was such an important go-between with some of the other co- defendants in this case that it was important he also be punished and held accountable. >> i think they made the wrong decision, but i also -- i will be filing the appropriate

motions for a new trial and certainly an appeal as appropriate. i feel the wrong decision was made. my client maintains his innocence. we have a strong basis for an appeal. >> that was lisa robinson reporting live. authorities are investigating a drowning in edgewood. investigators say he drowned after he fell off a pier last night around midnight. died teams found his body under the pier. right now, there is no evidence of foul play. firefighters have their hands full with a two-alarm fire in west river. they were called last night and it took about 90 minutes to give the fire under control. fortunately no one was injured. the causes under investigation. >> stay with us. a lot more news ahead including the celebration of citizenship in baltimore county. >> tonight, we learn more about

in might happen tomorrow morning. we could see temperatures in most areas dropping below the 50 degree mark. it was not only in the the 40's but it was in the 30's across the northern great lakes almost close to freezing. there was a chilly temperature reading this morning. 64 degrees for the los a far today at bwi marshall. we could hit below that. temperatures will fall quickly throughout the early evening with clear skies as indicated on the satellite imagery. the wins will diminish and the air is very dry. that will lead to rapidly falling temperatures. 69 degrees. westminster is at 72 degrees. hagerstown in the mid 70's. some of the spots in garrett and allegany counties may drop into the 30's overnight. around here, we will have a wide range across the inner harbor to the outlying suburbs. we will probably drop into the

mid to upper 40's by early tuesday morning. producing very comfortable weather again for the day with lots of sunshine. about the time officially becomes fall, wednesday, thursday into friday, the heat in the country will come back. the first couple of days will feel like summer as some of these areas where temperatures are in the 90's. one more comfortable dave and then the war of the see out here from 89 in st. louis, and that will be coming in on a south, southwest breeze. sunny and beautiful. the humidity will begin to return on wednesday. it is possible some of the isolated storms will work their way towards baltimore wednesday evening. we held on for a slight chance for a thunderstorm on thursday and friday as well.

tomorrow should be dry, sunny, and very nice with a light southwest wind. sunrise @ 6:53 a.m. wind wil be light on the day. the bay water temperatures will be right around 75 degrees. 30's in the morning and then a nice comfortable morning with sunshine about 75 degrees. from baltimore down to cambridge, look for some tschida around the bay. 79 degrees or so. lower eastern shore should hit the mid to upper 70's. the only problem could be dangerous rip currents because of the tremendous storm that went just to the west of bermuda, igor, which is pushing into the north atlantic. here are the remnants of what was once hurricane julia. the national hurricane center will monitor all of this down here. some of these show a promise of

turning into a tropical storm. once igor is gone, we may get a day or two without worrying about the topics. and 70's inmorning the afternoon. fall officially begins at 11:09 p.m. wednesday evening. right around 90 degrees with a slight chance for a storm wednesday and -- thursday and friday. cooling-off into the weekend. >> 11 sports with gerry sandusky. >> looked at the plus side, at least the ravens do not have to deal with the pressure of a perfect season. too soon? the ravens lost in cincinnati in the to do this in a game they could have so easily won. as well as the play on defense, they had two plays that could have changed the outcome. this intersection on a third down near the goal line lead the cincinnati bengals make a field goal on the next play. later in the have come a drop in

that's in andy harris' unfair tax plan. 23% sales tax. a 23% sales tax will cut my business in half. would be devastating. andy harris' 23% sales tax absolutely makes no sense. 23% sales tax would really make things unaffordable. that's too high for the average american out here. i don't know how we would manage it really.
