that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> we begin with breaking news this morning. baltimore city firefighters on the scene of a fire. >> it's started at and jennifer franciotti is live on the scene. >> this is on falls road. i want to give you a good picture of where this is. as you take falls road considered north parkway. this housal caught fire and inside were six people. including christine. christine when did you first notice something was wrong? >> we got woken up about 1:00 a.m. and by that time one room was already engulfed in flames and it traveled into the hallway in a matter of seconds

and the room my girlfriends and i were in burst into flames and we had to kick out the window. luckily we had to jump out the roof. my mother-in-law had to jump from the at i can. i know she was sent to the hospital with minor injuries. dylan and his grandfather got out on the steps and pretty much it was just us that had to joump out the roof. >> what is that like to have to jump off a roof? >> i couldn't believe i did that because in that moment, at that moment two had already jumped off and i could feel the roof panels burning up and the fire hurt. it burned so it was get burned or jump. >> dylan, you said you could hear the glass shattering? >> yes.

when i got outside, and i saw christine and geoand they were yelling and screaming jump, jump! then all of a sudden i heard glass breaking and heard metal bars popping and breaking and snapping, and i just kept on saying, please, be ok. please, be ok. and what happened was it just kept on breaking. and i was really, really scared. >> guys, thank you for talking with us and we hope your mother-in-law will be ok. we know she was taken to the hospital and that the point it's not believed she has any fractures which is unbelievable considering the height she had to jump from. firefighters say this was contained to the two-story dwelling and don't have a cause yet but fire investigators are on the scene.

jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> meanwhile this morning a baltimore grurge -- a baltimore grand jury -- they find holly guilty of a hate crime. he said he beat a man because he disliked mexicans. an arangment is set. >> the first shooting just after 10:00 at the intersection of preston and homewood avenue in east baltimore, a man and woman were shot and homicide detectives were called on the scene. no suspects or motives yet in the accident. >> and two menen found suffering from gunshot wounds to the stomach and another with a gunshot wound to a thigh. this morning no word on

suspects or motives. a baltimore coun man faces life in prison after he is found guilty for a murder for hire screem in the death of his uncle. 28-year-old shameous coil was found guilty of the shooting of a gas station owner. they say he spoke to his aunt about having her husband killed by a friend but he said he never believed the aunt was serious or that the man would carry it out. >> and a company called aqua advantage samen has developed sam than grows twice as fast as regular samen injecting it with a goat hormone. a panel of experts gathered to discuss the safety concerns

a lot of sunshine during the day today. we can see some rain on the radar. showers and thunderstorms coming across the upper midwest and a frontal boundary that may come to visit us as we head into tomorrow afternoon. but as it gets closer to us there will be a push of warm air. so we'll see a dramatic climb in temperatures as we head toward the end of the week, so if you're a summer weather fan you'll like the forecast. nice one after the cool start. high temperatures this afternoon will be in the upper 70's to the low 80's in few spots. overnight, cool but comfortably cool. temperatures will drop into the 50's in most locations. low 60's in the city. sunset five minutes after 7:00. and during the day tomorrow

high pressure will create a southwest wind so temperatures will climb into the mid 80's. so it will feel like summer even though autumn begins in the evening. the front will slip south of us thursday but will still give us a chance for a shower or thunderstorm. we could use the rain so it will feel warm and humid. autumn begins on wednesday. 85 for a high tomorrow. mid 80's thursday and friday. scattered showers and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon each one of those days and then a cold front should go through friday night into saturday morning. there could be lingering rain saturday morning then clearing with high temperatures in the 70's. >> in this morning's "consumer alert," another recall making headlines this morning this one involving general motors.

national bureau of economic study says it ended in june of last year. that is worth pointing out this is a technical interpretation of whether or not economic contraction is over not whether economic expansion has anything to do with this. al in fact, we have word today bank of america laying off as many as 400 workers and as for the basket of stocks going forward, priced into the stocks. speaking of recovery, it takes a long time to recover from a college education. until you're 33 that's when they say you break even on the cost of an education which says the average student suffers a financial setback from college and being out of the workforce and having to pay full tuition and the investment really doesn't start to pay off until age 33 and the college degree does pay off in other ways and

people with a college degree are less likely to be obese or smoke and more likely to read to their children and do volunteer work. >> so college grads will be lean and mean but broke. >> at least for a while.
