today. a high of 80. so after starting out in the 40's, you'll by be in the upper 70's. if you like summer, you'll like sum -- like the weekend. >> let's check your morning commute. not a lot going on out there. nothing in the way of incidents. 49 miles per hour on southbound 95. moving well toward beltway. 44 on the beltway. taping the brakes around the harrisburg expressway. looking good on the west side. south on 83 around shawan road at 46 miles per hour. so volume continues to build there. in glen burnie, 49 miles per hour according to our speed censor. here's a live look outside. we'll show you things are buildinging at old court off the ramp southbound at 795. no delays in this area.

a live view of the key bridge. both loops on the east side look good. that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> we begin with breaking news this morning. baltimore city firefighters busy on the scene of a fire in north baltimore. >> it started at 2:30 a.m. jennifer franciotti live on the scene this morning. bring us up to date. >> if you're traveling this way, falls road is shut down at northern parkway because this fire happened on a northern parkway address as you take falls road south toward the city. there's a side road parallel to northern parkway. 2 1/2-story building caught fire. inside six people, four women a grandfather and a 10-year-old boy. one of the victims say this fire started in a second-floor building and a 57-year-old

grandmother was forced to jump from an atic and suffered injuries to her legs. two other women had to jump from the second floor as flames were shooting out the windows. one victim describes how it happens. >> i was so scared of the jumping asal perfect and it took me a minute and i was on the phone with 911 then i heard the boards starting to crack and crack and crack, so i had to jump. >> be so terrifying. that was christine who also told us one of the factors, her hair was being sinaged by the fire, and she could feel the fire burning her arm. luckily everyone else was able to get out of the house ok. this area of falls road remains shut down for investigation. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> a 34-year-old woman is behind bars this morning accused of beating her aunt to death.

delaina simmons is charged with assault in the beating death of 66-year-old as i seelya mitchell. she dueled report she had attacked her aunt but did not know why. when police arrived they say they found simmons in the dining room with blood on her and mitchell lying in the living room. >> it appears the victim was struck repeatedly with the club device usually used to secure automobile steering wheels. >> simmons is being held without bail. >> the doctor who was injured last week when a gunman opened fire is doing well. dr. kohn is doing well after being shot in the abdomen when paul got upset about what dr. cohen was telling him about the condition of his mother. he shot cohen then his mother

then himself. >> 23-year-old brent rosinburg was struck by a car while crossing the pacific coast highway in california. he graduated from gillman in 2005. he moved to california two months ago for a job in fine nance. rosinburg stopped in the median of the highway but was hit as he stepped out further into traffic. he played soccer and lacrosse and graduated at wake forest university. >> in project economy, the recession is declared over, saying it ended in june of last year. after the economy stays shaky. it is the longest recession since the great depression. many americans may disagree with the news but they say the unemployment rate has dropped since the recession ended last year. with news president obama spoke to the nation monday in a town hall meeting responsered by

cnbc. trying to drum up votes. the president acknowledged the economic primary indicator for most americans simply isn't budging. >> i can describe what's happening to the economy overall, but if you're out of work, the only thing you're going to be hearing is -- when do i get a job? >> the big question now is will president obama have the votes after november to keep steering the election? >> take a survey at www.wbaltv.com. click on project economy to find it. >> the food and drug administration is looking into whether to approve the genetically-engineered salmon. the fish reached maturity within 17 months rather than 30 months. a panel of experts gathered to

any precipitation today. it's going to a -- to be a nice one. we'll wind up with pleasant conditions this afternoon. between 77-82 today after the sun starts. should be a beautiful sunrise. mostly clear and pleasant tonight. temperatures dropping back into the 50's. sunset at five minutes after 7:00. during the day tomorrow the front will be approaching late in the afternoon. it will turn the surface winds to the south west so we'll get a big push of warm air pushing the temperatures into the milled 80's tomorrow afternoon. way above average. the average high temperature right now is 77. the front will then sink south of us on thursday but not far enough for us to get into the cool air on the other side of the front. so for the next three or four days it will feel like summer even though autumn begins

tomorrow. the equinox is at 11:09 tomorrow but it will feel like summer. scattered thunderstorms are possible thursday and friday as the front goes back and forth. the highs will be in the midding 80's until the end of the week. rain could linger saturday morning then the rest of the weekend looks fine with temperatures back in the 70's then rain early next week. so if you're a summer weather fan, you like that forecast. back to the news desk. >> tony, thank you. there's a warrant out this morning for lindsay lohan after she failed a drug test. she confirmed on twitter she failed a court ordered drug screening. the bench warrant says she will remain free until her court meeting but could go back to

jail. meanwhile paris hilton pleaded guilty to pessing cocaine. the 29-year-old social lite gave her plea to two misdemeanor charges stemming from her arrest last month. under agreement she'll serve one-year probation and avoid a felony charge. she pleaded guilty to drug possession and obstructing an officer. >> there's still much more ahead on wbal news today. here's a look at last night's winning maryland lottery numbers. good luck.

>> the food and drug administration is considering whether or not to approve what would be the first genetically-modified fish for consumption. the company has developed salmon that grows twice as fast as regular salmon making it reach maturity in -- one safety concern would be what would happen if the genetically-engineered salmon escaped their pen and mated with regular salmon.
