business sales statewide. >> it brings energy downtown. people come and go into the restaurant's before and after the game. it is a whole new world. everybody is excited. >> george lettis, wbal 11 news. >> police are investigating the death of a patient at a psychiatric hospital. they're calling it a homicide, but not releasing much information beyond that. the patient was found not criminally irresponsible for the murder of a worker in 2004. tomorrow, he will appear before a judge for sentencing. he pleaded guilty to arms, carjacking, assault, and the crimes. his sentence will be imposed tomorrow morning. the victim, an elderly african- american man, will also address the court in the victim impact statement to tell the court how his life has changed and what he

is doing now. >> it is expected that the judge will impose a sentence of the time of the plea, which was 31 years. 30 years for the armed carjacking, 25 years for the first-degree assault, and one year for the crime. >> there were to give you a juvenile is also involved. one of them will be heard from at a separate 0-- two juveniles also involved. one of them will be heard from at a separate hearing. motorcycle slid into a utility pole. 23-year-old mike knapp -- matthew cavey was killed. his passenger 16-year-old elijah kelley is listed in serious condition at shock trauma. the closest many of us will ever get to a foreign -- ferrari. new york honors a brave firefighter who lost his life on 9/11.

editorial by jordan wertlieb. >> the race for state's attorney was one of the most hotly contested and expensive races ever for the office. the challenger defeated incumbent patricia jessamy in a hard-fought in close race in the primary election. patricia jessamy has spent 15 years working to engage and educate the community on criminal-justice issues while serving as prosecutor. her efforts to prosecute crime as well as treatment and prevention have impacted our city and state. now, gregg bernstein has promised to take personal responsibility for reducing crime and prosecuting violent criminals. he vows to increase conviction rates and make the city safer. those are lofty goals in a city where violent crime has been on the agenda for decades. despite those promises, he cannot do that alone. a fresh start with a new prosecutor is also the opportunity for the criminal justice system to join forces, share resources, and work

together. it will take the prosecutor's office as well as the police, legislators, and all the support services to make baltimore safer for everyone. he will not officially when the election until november 2nd, but he has been officially received the job and all of the challenges that come with it. challenges that come with it. that's in andy harris' unfair tax plan. 23% sales tax. a 23% sales tax will cut my business in half. would be devastating. andy harris' 23% sales tax absolutely makes no sense. 23% sales tax would really make things unaffordable. that's too high for the average american out here. i don't know how we would manage it really. don't like that idea. we can't afford andy harris' idea. i'm frank kratovil and i approve this message.
