some changes in the certification process were immediate. what about the products that had already received certification? >> they declined our request for an interview. we wanted to know how they planned to restore public confidence. there are thousands of products with that label. >> in an e-mail, the epa says they are in the process of testing within 200 of the best- selling energy star appliances. when spokesperson said it is part of their effort to maintain trust in the brand and to ensure when a consumer sees the energy star logo the can be confident the product will be energy-efficient can help our burma. test results are expected by the year end. also by year end, many manufacturers wishing to qualify their products will have to submit independent lab reports from epa accredited labs. this was not required before. gone are automated approvals.
