no injuries. we will bring you the latest details when they become available. >> the cleanup continues tonight after yesterday's massive brainstorms less several streets flooded. >> once the heavy rains in it, there is still more chance of sinkholes coming along. >> we did some checking around the channel 11 viewing area and found that despite as much rain is got yesterday, damage as far as rhodes was kept to a minimum. you can see where those steel plates are down there, there is actually a sink hole underneath there. road crews put those plates on top to keep it safe until they can fix it. we also found another huge sinkhole in and around a county. work crews from -- e n anne arundel county. >> that is a deep hole.

>> here off of i-97, crews are busy repairing this major sinkhole that took about half the road out. one of many projects around the county. >> we have a lot of roads that were closed from a high water and some with tree damage. we are in the process of opening some roads and we still are getting a few calls to close other roads, mostly because of trees. >> about 2 miles north of the beltway, another sinkhole. by friday afternoon, work crews had capped it with metal plates to finish later. emergency officials say that besides the sinkhole, there really was not a lot of damage to county roads. >> the sinkhole was by far the most serious and obvious problem that we saw on the roadways. the rest of the problems were flooding on the roadways. we were concerned about people driving through the water, but as we move into the weekend, that danger is going to pass because the water is going to

disappear. >> as far as the cost to repair the roads, we contacted area counties in the state highway administration and all say it is just too early to tell, because work is still being done. it is safe to say that it will be much less than hurricane isabel that in 2003 and the past winter's snowstorms. >> this was really a lot of rain, and we were concerned about what the effects might be. we were very pleasantly surprised this morning to find that the damage was relatively minimal. >> we should have more information on the costs sometime next week. work crews say that as far as the sinkholes are concerned, they should be repaired in the coming days. >> now that the storms have moved on, residents are assessing how much damage they now need to repair. rob roblin has more on the efforts to get back to normal.

>> there is still standing water in a few locations in baltimore county. you can see a small section of this road is still under water. for businesses in essex, today was a day to clean up. at the golden marine auto and body shop, that had almost 3 feet of water. today there were cleaning out mud. >> all the electronic equipment and everything was just under the water. >> down the streets at sylvester's saloon, they cleaned up yesterday afternoon, but last night at high tide, the business flooded again, filling the saloon with water and mud. this meant more cleaning up. >> at high tide last night, we got another two or 3 feet that in and left a film of dirt

and mud on the floor, and we started all over again this morning at about 9:00. >> down in the military community in pasadena, there were utility trucks everywhere -- in the millburn community. residents think the tornadic came through here. >> we were sitting in the living room and my husband said look out there. everything was going totally sideways across the back of my son ports. >> i think it was a funnel cloud. it missed us by a couple of hundred yards. >> steve found a tree in his pool. >> yesterday's storm caused quite a mess, all in all.

seat against republican 80 harris. they have waged a nasty fight free tv advertising. >> it was paid for by the commission on hope, row, an opportunity. it is a tax-exempt organization that makes the next question, who is that, very hard to answer. the commission's website says its mission is to influence policy for free-market economic growth. it lists a washington d.c. address and phone number. the listed contact is a lawyer. what you don't know about the commission is where its money comes from. because it is not a political committee, it is not required to disclose its donors. even harris' campaign is in the dark. asked how this particular organization can to support harris, a spokesperson said they have no idea.

>> they are message left today for the commission has not been returned. they are not supposed to be devoting their activities to politicking for particular candidates. >> baltimore city councilwoman helen holton will be in court monday to face charges he violated campaign finance laws. we are told an agreement is not in the works that would bring the case to a close without a trial. she is accused of getting to developers to pay for a political poll back in 2007. the developers have pleaded guilty to similar charges and given probation before judgment. >> baltimore county police have arrested two men and charged them with the stabbing inside security square mall.

they are charged with attempted murder. police say they tried to rob a 21-year-old before they met inside the mall. wright was treated and released from shock trauma. all three men were students at the north american trade school located at the mall. rhythm-and-blues singer mario was arrested and charged with assault earlier today, just before 1:00. police were called to the 900 block of bell street for a disturbance. that is where police found mario's mother crying, and charging documents say she was hit in the chest and shoulder a few days before. mario was taken to central booking and released on $50,000 bond. >> jurors are now delivering that -- deliberating the fate of three men charged with killing baltimore city councilman ken harris.

>> the jury has gone home after deliberating for about two hours today. those deliberations started after this morning's closing arguments. the defense presented a different theory during closing arguments. the attorney told jurors dna evidence shows her client did not commit the murder of kenneth harris or the robbery of the new haven lounge. she claims the dna of one witness to the robbery mirrored the dna of her client. jurors had already heard testimony that collins' blood was found on a bandanna and gloves. >> actually his dna was never found on any item. because he was standing here is one of the victims, because those to mirror their dna, nine out 13 places have the exact same numbers. transference occurred, and that is why it appears that mr. collins' dna is on the item.

>> the prosecutor told jurors surveillance video and dna from to the men was found on bandannas and latex gloves. the defense does not think the prosecution proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt. >> the state simply analyze everything the defense said, which in my opinion, begs the question. the question is, had he proved your case beyond a reasonable doubt? i think the state did not do its job. >> the prosecutor argued that the lives of the three men are not at stake, because it is not a death penalty case. a jury must now decide if three young men committed the murder and robbery. >> no way of knowing specifically how long it will take.

toward new england. we should have clear skies for the night tonight and a beautiful star to the weekend tomorrow. 45-52 for the overnight low, still breezy out there now, but the winds will diminish as high pressure moves in behind the storm. the weather pattern is the same, it has just moved a little farther to the east out over the atlantic. we do see some showers out here coming from canada and through the great lakes. tomorrow is the day to clean up and enjoys a nice outdoor activities, with the beautiful weather conditions expected tomorrow. sunday the clouds increase. but afternoon and evening, some showers in the area, and this will be a slow-moving system. the shares will leverage through the middle part of next week. -- showers will linger through the middle part of next week.

four years ago, bob ehrlich got fired as governor of maryland. for good reason. first, he protected tax loopholes for giant cable cable companies. then, he let utilities jack up our rates 72%. and for the last four years, he worked as a hired gun for big corporations, even a bank that took billions from a taxpayer funded bailout. ehrlich sides with corporate executives again and again and again tell bob ehrlich big banks and billionares don't need help. middle class marylanders do.
