5:18 am
atlantic and toss it back in our direction. and with a northeast wind and the cloud cover sticking around, it's really going to be tough to get the temperatures to move much today. we'll be lucky if we get into the upper 50's this afternoon. right now, upper 40's and low 50's, so man just adding five or six degrees as we head into this afternoon. upper 40's in the northern suburbs right now. it's 49 in taneytown. same thing in parkton. a little bit warmer near the water, but not much. it's 53 in annapolis and 52 degrees in rock hall. again, maybe topping out in the upper 50's this afternoon. so here's the weather setup. we have an area of low pressure coming up the coast. this one is intensifying, but at least moving north and away from us. the problem is, the next couple of days, we have an area of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere that's stalled over west virginia. this is going to just kind of walk its way toward the coast. so we're going to have to keep a chance for rain and cool temperatures in the forecast, i think, all the way through the middle of the week. we'll probably stay in the 50's all the way through wednesday. so don't look for a big warm-up until we get towards the
5:19 am
weekend. so showers likely today, at least off and on. otherwise, it will be cloudy and cool and northeast wind at 10 to 15. high temperatures between 55 and 670. sun rises this morning at 7:05, but probably won't see the sunrise. showers likely overnight tonight as well, but they should be tapering off late as the storm pulls away. otherwise, mostly cloudy with temperatures dropping back into the upper 40's. sun sets this evening at 6:44. seven-day forecast with that storm drifting around, the next couple of days, we're going to keep at least a 30% chance for showers in the forecast on tuesday and wednesday and keep the high temperatures only in the 50's. again, the average high is 72. we'll start to break out of this pattern at the end of the week. by the time we get into the weekend, it looks very nice. we'll get some sunshine back and temperatures will jump into the upper 70's. >> in this morning's consumer alert, if you're headed to europe or know someone who lives there, beware. the u.s. state department has
5:20 am
issued a terror warning after obtaining evidence showing osama bin laden, al qaeda, and affiliates are planning attacks which will most likely be targeted at transportation or popular tourist sites. many travelers say they are heeding the warning, but won't let it interfere with their plans. >> they dent mention airports in particular. they mentioned more areas, maybe tourist attractions and stuff like that. so we weren't worried the slightest. >> european officials say they are working to track down suspects with the help of the c.i.a. nearly one in every four homes sold in the second quarter was a deeply discounted foreclosed house. at that pace, the market should be able to work through distressed properties in about three years. the real estate tracking group says it will take that long to resell homes lost by owners and get the markets back in line with numbers prior to the recession. meantime, congressman cummings is calling for a moratorium on for closures here in maryland. this comes amid recent reports of fraud among lenders. he says lenders' actions may have led to evictions that

morning commute. right now, we're dealing with an accident southbound on the harrisburg expressway. it's just prior to the beltway. you can see the delays starting to form as you make your approach to the beltway. it's an overturned tractor-trailer. it happened last night, but they're still working to upright it and clear it from those two left lanes. right now the right lane squeezing by only, and there are some heavy delays leading up to that. we'll take a live view of that in the moment. in the meantime, consider york road as your alternate, much better bet this morning. let's see what else is going on. we have an accident in columbia, columbia road at april journey. headsing out on northbound 9 at 175, a medical call there to watch for. and another problem northbound 95 at 216, an accident just coming in to us. we understand warnings in effect at the bay bridge this morning, just be careful as you travel across any of the area bridges. it's a slick start this morning, so definitely give yourself extra time if you can. here's a quick live look at the accident scene. you can see the flashing lights, lots of activity there, southbound 83 approaching the beltway. again, two left lanes are closed. york road is your alternate

this morning, and running a lot smoother than this is at least. we'll swetch over to a leave view at warren road, where delays are starting to creep back to this area. so from warren road down to the beltway, that's where you're going to be sitting in traffic. rest of the marriage roadways, thankfully, in pretty good shape, despite the fact that they are wet out there. but 795 looks good, no problems on i-70 coming in toward the beltway. that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. now we go to kurt kroncke for a look at the buses and trains. >> looking pretty good on the rails right now. despite a delay on the brunswick line, 890 running 10 minutes late. both light rail metro subway on schedule. we have the five bus with a 20-meant delay. 35 bus diverting at wilkins and brunswick. and the 30 bus is diverting at pratt and light. there's a new and exciting way to pay your local bus, light rail, or metro. it's called the charm card. it's rechargeable card you add money to. for information is available at mtachargecard.com. now back to tony pann. >> thank you, sir.

good morning, everyone. we have a little bit of rain to contend with again this morning. this is not going to be a tremendous rain event like the last storm, but still enough to slow down the drive time, so give yourself extra time. light rain around the beltway at the present time. a little break on the eastern shore counties. light to moderate rain out in the western suburbs as well. this is going to continue to come through in waves this. won't be a steady rain, but they'll come in from the east and work their way back west. eventually some of this will likely catch up to you. let's take a look at the radar. we can see a storm system spreading rain, wrapping it around the top side of the storm off the atlantic, into pennsylvania, new jersey, new york state. it's a slow mover, but it's not as powerful as the storm that came through the other day. and with the winds coming out of the northeast and the cloudy skies around here and the rain showers, it's going to be difficult to move the temperatures. right now we're in the upper 40's and low 50's. i doubt if we'll make it out of the 50's this afternoon. the average high temperature is 72, just to give you some perspective. but right now, it's 49 in

parkton. same thing in jarrettsville. 54, one of the warmer spots in annapolis. and 50 degrees at b.w.i. so take your jacket with you and the umbrella. here's the weather setup. we've got this area of low pressure at the surface riding up the coast. that's producing the rain during the day today. the problem for the next couple of days is there's an area of low pressure that's centered over the ohio valley in the upper levels of the atmosphere, and that's cut off from the flow. so it's basically going to stall right over the midatlantic region, so we're going to keep the chance for showers in the forecast tomorrow and probably wednesday as well with temperatures in the 50's. and then eventually high pressure will kick it all off shore, and we'll find up with a decent close to the workweek. so with the forecast for today, off and on rain showers, nothing heavy, cloudy and cool otherwise with a northeast wind at 10 to 15. the high temperatures only between 50 and 55. sunrise coming up at 7:05. overnight tonight, rain showers likely, mostly cloudy otherwise, with temperatures dropping back into the upper 40's. and the seven-day forecast, not a whole lot is going to change

tuesday and wednesday, although i don't think it will be as steady of a precip event. we're going to drop the chance down to 30% on tuesday and wednesday, but the temperatures are going to stay the same, upper 50's both days. and then we finally break out of this pattern on thursdayful we'll make it back into the upper skts, perhaps the upper 70's by the time we hit next weekend with the sunshine. and that's something to look forward to. send it over to the news desk. >> tony, thank you. a high school football game in one minnesota town was the site of a very impressive display of sportsmanship. >> zach snyder has the story of one very special touchdown. >> sam colvin has been a member of the indians football team since the eighth grade. he also suffers from autism. so when the coach asked superior to let colvin catch a pass in a game that was no longer in doubt, the answer from the spartans sideline was a resounding yes. >> there was no indecision whatsoever. the guys in the huddle with me, they chimed right in and says let's just do it, coach. >> colvin caught the ball near
