council city chair, a little to helen holton presides over economic development. she pleaded no contest to one count of violating campaign finance she was fined and given probation before judgment. it could force her from elected office. she does admit that there is convincing evidence against her. she is accused of giving two developers, jon tester practice ronald lipscomb -- john paterakis and ronald lipscomb money. >> i will serve on the city council and serve baltimore city to the best of my ability.

around 8:30 last night. a witness outside the stores saw it and ran to get help. >> there was a baltimore city police officer outside the restaurant. a citizen came in and said that the store was being robbed. >> the 3 dunman saw the officer in uniform approaching -- three gunmen saw the officer in uniform approaching. >> the officer withdrew his service weapon and fired a defensive shot towards the suspect. the suspect went down and was shot once in the upper body. >> that suspect is expected to survive. the other suspect fled on foot. police are praising the good samaritan who acted quickly to stop the robbery. >> brave, courageous work on the part of citizens. >> the police officer has been

placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. a man is behind bars accused of murdering a teenager in front of his home. harford to the authorities arrested michael jones, jr. after they say he shot and killed shakir derrick wingate saturday night. wingate, a student at joppatowne high, was attending a birthday celebration for one of his sisters when he and his pregnant girlfriend went to the car parked outside of his edgewood home. investigators say that moments later, jones shot wingate several times. >> he would give you the shirt off his back. he gave it to me. >> investigators believe that the shooting was a result of an ongoing feud between jones and wingate. jones faces a charge of first- degree murder. a campus is in mourning after the sudden death of a harvard community college student --

harford community college stent the freshman collapsed during the first day of tractable practice -- a basketball practice. he was taken to a medical center and pronounced dead. he was a member of several other sports teams. school administrators have postponed a sporting events and practices until further notice. three people are recovering this afternoon after an early-morning fire in east baltimore. officials said the fire started yesterday morning on the second floor of a home at the 300 block of north robinson street. thvictims were taken to johns hopkins hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. no word on what sparked the blaze. coming up, a van carrying churchgoers' on a trip crashes along a georgia highway. find out what investigators believe happened to fire ravages of home in ohio. within a dozen people inside. within a dozen people inside.

>> in the "consumer alert," great news for current and former verizon customers. the company posted a statement saying that it would credit customers who were improperly charged for in it for urgent web access. there were questioned after customers complained that they were charged for what used for accidentally pulling up the internet. -- web use after accidently pulling up the internet. customers will receive a credit of $2 to $6 on their bill. one out of every four homes was a deeply discounted house, and at that pace, the market should be able to work for distressed properties in three years.
