arguments in the case today. >> ♪ god blesss america >> members of the westboro baptist church protest outside the white house one day before their case hits the supreme court, a constitutional battle over freedom of speech and the right to privacy. >> see, this nation thought that they were going to shut us up by suing us first and then arresting me in nebraska. >> the case centers around a church protest near the maryland funeral of a fallen marine. 20-year-old matthew snyder was killed in iraq in 2006. the church said its members were on public property and their speech is protected. but snyder's father sued, claiming his rights to privacy and religious freedom were violated. >> it comes down to dignity. no one -- i don't care if you're not military -- no one should be buried with what they did to him. >> now the justices are being asked to decide if the free speech rights of demonstrators outweigh the privacy rights of

midei began in 2009. 100 patients filed lawsuits. the hospital is open to talking with any patient that believes he or she has a claim. in the case where there is a proper medical information, they will continue to seek a fair ending. some say the hospital is not telling the truth. >> we discussed all 100 of these cases. we met for over 20 hours. st. joseph's medical center is that will to accept responsibility and they are not willing to take care of the patients they said they would take care of. >> that was attorney jay miller who said he could be filing another 100 cases. charges were filed against dr. mark midei. reporting live in the newsroom,

girlfriend. the officer is accused of killing anna beach last week. her family suspected foul play after discovering a blood stain in her home. her body was dumped in a wooded area. a troubling story on the south side of florida it as police investigate the death of a toddler found inside a hot car. the child was left inside of a car for three hours on sunday. james said he forgot about the child. it will be life in prison for 31-year-old faisal shahzad. he was sentenced yesterday in federal court. in may, he drove an suv into

times square with a bomb in the back. nobody was hurt. shahzad did plead guilty to weapons count. >> ford wants to bring back the look of the lincoln but with an overhaul. ford executives want to focus on the top 130 metropolitan areas where they think they have the best chance of selling luxury lincolns. look for seventh new models in an effort to attract younger buyers. parents are not making the best financial decisions when saving for their children's education. jane king has the bloomberg

business report. >> toyota investors are going after the auto maker. they say internal documents show toyota concealed unintended sudden acceleration problems in the u.s., and that the company knew about those defects a decade ago. this led to millions of recalled vehicles. the maryland pension fund is seeking to represent those who bought toyota stopped. as for markets, a huge rally. the service industry expanded more than forecast. japan created a fund to buy bonds to boost its economy. the bloomberg maryland index finished strong by gains from t. rowe price.

six but it puts a local medical center gets slapped with a lawsuit after one of its cardiologists put unnecessary hearts.nto patients' >> jennifer franciotti has more. >> the lawsuit names the hospital and doctor involved. another 100 patients could be filing suit soon. >> they conspired with dr. midei to allow this to go on, turning a blind eye on to what should have been obvious. >> conspiracy, fraud, and medical negligence -- those are the claims in 101 new lawsuits filed against st. joseph's medical center and dr. mark midei. he put stents into the arteries of patients who did not need

them. now his clients have suffered. st. joseph medical center said the hospital is also open to talking with any patient who believes he or she has a claim. in those cases where the medical center has a corporate medical information, they will continue to seek a fair and satisfactory resolution with those patients. > we discussed all 100 of these cases. we met for over 20 hours. responsibility and they are not willing to take care of the patients they said they would take care of. >> letters were sent to most of the clients after st. joseph's medical center has several other cardiologists reviewed the files in question. those cardiologists found discrepancies in those patient'' medical records. the fact that there was a letter sent to certain letters is not

proof of liability. patients need to demonstrate inappropriate care has caused them an injury. miller said his clients just want to get the hospital back to the negotiation table to work out a reasonable settlement. dr. midei left the hospital in 2009. the maryland board of physicians filed charges against him. jennifer franciotti reporting live. now back to you. >> maryland is one of many states where community college enrollment has skyrocketed. the obama administration held a first-ever community college summit. tim tooten was at that summit and filed this report. >> at the white house is calling this an important next step to help prop up the ailing economy. dr. jill biden has gotten the

green light from the white house to promote two-year schools. she toward anne arundel community college where she took note of a number of job creation programs. >> community colleges are at the center of american's efforts to educate our way to a better economy. >> the summit kicked off on in the east room of the white house, with the president said he is counting on community colleges to help. >> getting an associate's degree -- jobs will increase to twice as fast as those that don't require college. we need community colleges. >> the president has challenged community colleges to produce 5000 -- 5 million graduates over the next decade. >> i am a true testament to this

view farms. weather-wise, we have this area of low pressure. it is drifting across the mid atlantic region. we have been talking about this for the last three days. it will move off to the northeast, but it will take at least 24 hours to do that. the precipitation shield extends back into ohio. we have all of this precipitation to get through. the rain will be off and on and hit and miss. it should not affect the drive time. we have a 40% chance that you could experience some showers. upper 40's and low 50's right now. we managed to get up to two degrees yesterday. we have a range between 56 and 61. we should be close to 72 this time of year.
