the big story tonight is that president obama worked time in his schedule to visit maryland this afternoon. it is all part of an effort to fire up democratic voters. >> he went to support o'malley. >> gov. o'malley is doing something many democrats across the country are for it to become members the president. he has done this since day one and mr. obama was not even his first choice. ♪ >> president barack obama got a rock star reception at the bowie state university. >> it is an honor to be standing here with one of the best governors in the united states of america, martin o'malley. it is all on wbaltv.com. >> on "politics." -- click on "politics." >> jurors have gone home without reaching a verdict. >> it appears that whatever jurors had as a problem, what ever led to the impasse they had yesterday has now been settled. they were back working on it all day today. in jury deliberations continued thursday after jurors announced to the day before that they were deadlocked on the counts of felony murder and conspiracy. judge david ross told them to continue trying to reach their verdict. jurors are reviewing more than 50 pieces of evidence and three weeks of testimony. for each defendant, the jury must decide 29 charges.

according to the prosecution's case, williams, calls, and mckinney conspired to commit the arm robbery in 2008. in the commission of that crime, former baltimore city councilman ken harris was shot as he tried to flee. he made it to his car, but crashed moments after being shot in the back. the defense claims the police investigation was flawed. dna from the defendants were found on bandanas and los police located not far from the robbery scene durin. >> my client is nervous, excited, and wants to get this over. i am in the same position. i am glad they're taking as much as they are, going through everything. i am just hoping for a quicker resolution than a long resolution to this verdict. >> jurors will be back again tomorrow to continue deliberating.

>> a scathing report -- hannah wheeling was found beaten and choked to death outside of the facility back in february. the 27-page report shows confusing policies, a lack of video cameras, and a shortage of staff. a 13-year-old boy who was detained at the center has been charged as a juvenile with homicide and attempted rape p.m. while the state department of labor cited the juvenile services department for its failure to adhere to safety standards. >> it was a horrendous crime. the woman convicted of killing a pregnant woman from power -- from anne arundel county has been sentenced in oregon. korena roberts will spend the rest of her life behind bars for the 2009 murder of 21-year-old heather snidely. she met roberts through

craigslist with the intent of buying a close. instead, robert bludgeoned her to death and cut the baby out of her womb, two months before she was to give birth. >> it is a tough one to swallow. you come out to a place for a fresh beginning and to have something so tragic happen with such good intentions. >> roberts pretended she was the mother and called 911 to report the infant was not breathing. doctors were not able to save the baby. as part of the plea deal, roberts avoided the death penalty. >> they have made the largest drug busts in county history. at least two people are behind bars after investigators found marijuana plants and other illegal items in cited where house. -- inside a where house -- inside a warehouse.

we will have partly cloudy skies and and it will not change the temperature either. on the day tomorrow, westerly wind not nearly as strong as today. bay water temperatures will be at 70 degrees at baltimore harbor. here is low pressure in the tropical atlantic. this is a tropical storm o otto. it is not organized, but the wind is strong at 60 miles an hour. this is east northeast, with for months, and will stay hopefully from many major land. as it moves across the atlantic over the next few days. it does not appear to be a problem for folks here or in bermuda. there will be sunny skies on friday.

after months of martin o'malley telling us "maryland is moving forward," "and moving maryland forward" this jobs report tells the truth maryland's economy stalled "we face an uphill struggle in trying to regain the jobs lost" o'malley attempts a cover-up, falsifying the jobs report to help his campaign. "whatever we can do to make it disappear, we need to do it. that's coming straight from the top" martin o'malley, first he makes stuff up, when caught, he covers stuff up. we need a governor who tells the truth.

joseph guadagnoli and another person were arrested after police discovered a marijuana growing operation in a warehouse this week. the two-story warehouse had about $12,000 worth of cash and other equipment as well. the juvenile was also arrested. >> it has been a full week and there are no solid answers about what happened to a missing tourists along the texas-mexico border. his wife says that he was murdered by pirates from a mexican drug cartel. now the governor of texas is leaning on both u.s. and mexican authorities to step up their efforts along the border. >> as the mystery in these waters seems to grow even deeper, texas gov. rick perry is now stepping up his demand for answers. he is giving the mexican president 48 hours to find solid information about what happened to missing tourist david

there will be wall-to-well sunshine tomorrow. the days are getting shorter. the sun is going down now at 6:38 p.m. they water temperatures are backing off a bit at 63 degrees. it is autumn glory weekend coming up at mccaffrey and oakland for the next few days. it is a great time to be out in western maryland. air temperatures will be comfortable around western maryland around the bay, 71 degrees with scattered clouds. there should be fantastic weather as well. 75 degrees tomorrow and saturday, with mostly sunny skies. there will be great football weather on sunday. there is a chance for char monday evening at 20%. that lingers into tuesday. there will be a slightly better chance for showers on wednesday and thursday. >> the tough economy is paying

off for pawnshops and mortgage rates have dropped to historical lows. >> it seems that mortgage rates have fallen to a record low. rates for 30-year mortgages have dropped to 4.27%. that is the lowest since they started keeping track back in 1971. 15-year mortgage rates fell as well. and despite the low rates, there has still not been a jump in home sales. according to the national association of realtors, in august, existing home sales were the second lowest on record a positive sign -- on record. a positive sign that things are getting better, the labor department announced that unemployment dropped by 11,000 last week. wall street analysts had expected a small increase. it has been rare to see weekly applications fall below 450,000 this year. it has a reputation for
