>> hello, everybody. we believe -- we began with breaking news from downtown. >> if a woman is dead. officials are trying to tell if that was a result of falling down an elevator shaft. if it happened on north our street. city homicide has been called in. that is common. both police and fire crews are trying to figure out if the woman fell down the shaft and why she was inside the vacant building to begin with. they are wondering if she was homeless. we will have an update when more information becomes available. on to our big story tonight. president barack obama is campaigning in maryland. >> he was at bowie state university this afternoon. it was an effort to keep maryland democrats in office. president obama urged the thousands in attendance to

were called to the hospital on -- to -- ann arundel county police were called to the school on friday. police say the student was walking outside in annapolis i school when the 17-year-old suspect approached her, grabbed her hand, and water to a wooded area across the street. according to the communications officer, the victim knows the suspect from school. she tried to turn down his advances and run away. >> he became angry, picked up a stick, and threw it at her. she dealt to the ground. he maintained control of were on the ground and committed the sexual assault. >> police say the victim is a juvenile. troy reed is being charged as an adult and faces eight charges including second-degree rape and second-degree assault. police say the victim went to

school that day and reported the attack to a school resource officer the following day. parents say they are shocked and concerned. >> i am concerned. i am hoping that this is a random incident. i am so sorry for the student. >> the 17-year-old suspect is being held at the ann arundel kowt de distension center without bond. >> following the murder of a patient, three staff members on duty at the time have retired. a fellow patient who reportedly had a criminal history has now been charged with the murder. a scathing report released today citing multiple security failures for the murder of a hartford county teacher -- hannah wheeling was found beaten in a choked to death.

a staff shortage caused a dangerous environment. a 13-year-old boy as been charged in her murder. >> it is being chart -- called the largest drug bust in history. the street value was close to $35 million. an elaborate marijuana-train was being operated at the day warehouse in eastpoint. we had been. like this. >> what you are looking at is heat lamps connected to two denting tubes. they were mounted over the top of the plants. >> nearly 500 marijuana plants, 640 pounds of processed pot, cash, and an elaborate two-story marijuana growing operation. that is what police found inside and eastpoint warehouse monday night. >> we have been here 28 years

mostly sunny skies. a lower eastern shore from southern delaware to a ocean city, 76 and lots of sunshine. otto is a tropical storm that is generating some thunderstorms. it is not that well organized. it has a warm water to work with, but its districting to the east, north east. it is at 60 miles per hour winds. it looks like it will stay safely to the south of bermuda. it will slide out into the atlantic. that is the direction we like to see storms go. sunny skies and back into the mid 70's on saturday. beautiful football weather for the ravens on sunday. a slight chance of a shower on monday and tuesday. that chance will increase to the middle part of next week. >> with the ravens in first in the afc north, will see why next

two governors, two different approaches. even in good times bob ehrlich didn't make education a priority. he increased college tuition by 40%, cut school construction by $200 million, and ehrlich voted to eliminate the department of education while serving in congress. but in the toughest of times, martin o'malley has made record investments in public schools, new school construction, and o'malley froze college tuition four years in a row. with martin o'malley, our children always come first.
