after baltimore police responded to park heights for an adult male who had been shot to death. since friday, seven dead, three injured and mostly by gunfire. police told reporters the strategies appear to be working to bring violent crime down. the weekend of violent crime is down 16%. >> this was a bad weekend. do not misunderstand me, but it does not mean the strategy is not working. the strategy seems to be working very well with a 16% decline in violence. >> the police said having a few good leads including the shooting on shamrock avenue and another which they believe are related. they remain concerned about the stabbing murder of the 78-year- old sterling palmer, a retired mta bus driver found by his wife inside his home. a crime that has shocked his edison high way neighborhood.

>> bald market police say at least two people were stabbed after 6:30 p.m. saturday night at octoberfest. using cell phone and video, a witness was able to apprehend a suspect with a bloody t-shirt. they believe alcohol than a role in the violence. a georgia man is behind bars here in maryland charged with kidnapping. a 20-year-old victim called to report she and her two children had been kidnapped by her estranged husband. they located the vehicle along interstate-95 and arrested the 31-year-old woman. she is charged with two counts of charge -- of false imprisonment. >> in new york city, police are researching for the ninth suspect of the anti-gay its active teenagers and an adult male. is the latest in bullying cases nationwide based on sexual

one in five construction workers is still unemployed. in that makes absolutely no sense at a time when there is some much of america that needs rebuilding. cracks in a bipartisan report estimates the spending program would create middle class jobs in manufacturing, construction, and retail. the white house says it could be paid for by closing tax breaks in the oil and gas industry. the cost could be a roadblock for congress about to head into a lame duck session and weary of additional spending. when the plan was first announced, republican john said america could not spend their way to prosperity. >> there are no democratic or republican bridges or roads. >> the challenge now is to build consensus in congress. congressional leaders hope to pass a scaled-back highway bill already in the congress when they return from the midterms.

maryland. those storms over there are the ones we will have to keep an eye on later tonight. this will probably weaken quite a bit, but there is still a chance that some of the action could survive and make it our direction. the national weather service has the severe thunderstorm watch for these storms in pennsylvania. this is where the main chance for severe thunderstorms are. they are under severe thunderstorm warnings right now. the roughest weather looks like it was day to our north. all of the showers and storms developing on this boundary. temperatures are in the 50's, 60's come and 70's. contrast that to the 80's here and the almost 90 degrees in virginia. that is a mechanism for the showers and storms that will be slowly settling in our direction. we will keep the chance for a storm in the forecast. 82 in westminster.

in the 70's for mckinny and prospered. -- in mckinney and prosper. we barely get below the normal high for the low temperature tonight. that front has just about stalled out. the pressure in the middle of the country will also be approaching. these two systems will converge on the mid-atlantic for the chance for a shower or a thunderstorm. the isolated showers are tracking south of baltimore tomorrow afternoon. wednesday should be nice with next clouds, some sun, cooler and more normal temperatures. thursday, the unsettled weather from our west moves back toward our direction. that will keep temperatures quite chilly as we head toward the end of the week. tomorrow, 74-79 but still 5-10
