george? >> one of the firefighter unions today says the deadly fire could have been prevented if the closest fire station to the scene was operating. truck company 23 could not respond because it is part of the rotating closures of fire stations to save money. firefighters from surrounding companies had to respond to the home on ducks 1900 block of griffins avenue around midnight. four people got out ok. firefighters found the body of a fifth person on the second floor. it was a 59-year-old. the city battalion chief says the rotating closures would not -- were not a factor in his death. >> our response last night, the first arriving company, was just under four minutes, in which the national fire protection asian association has set a standard, -- fire protection association has set the standard. we were less than half of that

"stop playing firehouse roulette. how many more people have to die before enough is enough? fully fund the baltimore city fire department report that is from the union local 734. no word on a cause. investigators say they believe there were no working smoke detectors in the home. we're live in southwest baltimore. wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you. it was of mylonite in baltimore city. police say three people were shot since 6:00 last evening. the first was in the 3300 block in canton. a woman was shot in the leg during a domestic dispute. a father has been charged with the death of his infant daughter. police say timothy lewis called police to report his 6-month-old daughter stopped breathing. neighbors were shocked, but

crisp. the flu can dampen spirits. the department of health is working to prevent the spread of the virus, offering a free flu vaccination clinic. wrapped up this afternoon at the community center, where anyone over six months of age could get a free flu shot. >> what is wonderful is that this year the h1n1 is in the regular vaccine. all you need is one shot. >> we are told that shots were provided on a first-come, first- served basis. greg year with sports. >> they're usually a lot of fun, but the tigers have their day today. we will show you later in sports. >> the rain and stormy weather was up in new england. look to the west of us. not much. we will give you the forecast.

67 the typical high this time of year. temperatures have pulled back just a little bit so far. they have started to drop off rapidly now that the sun is setting. annapolis, 65. cambridge, 63. on the boardwalk, 62. westminster, 63. frederick was in the 50's all day in far western maryland with scattered clouds. here is a satellite picture showing the storm. it is a big nor'easter. there is a little shower activity in the backwash. they might catch up to snow showers in the mountains and parts of new england this evening. notice the fair weather to the west. you get a hint of a little front through the upper midwest here. not much action with it. a couple of sprinkles in illinois and iowa, parts of indiana. that is about it. the high pressure this evening is the thing that controls the

temperatures. the wind will not be quite as blustery as it was today. 10 to 15 miles per hour. a lot of sunshine. great football weather. here is what the futurecast looks like. there is a weak front. it is dissipates as it hit the mountains. there is not enough force to do much of anything. the atmosphere will not change that much as the front goes through. there will be changes in the future. on monday afternoon, we pick a clouds. there is a larger system to the west. by tuesday, rain chances kick in and that is what our seven-day is all about. 65 on monday. by monday night into tuesday, wednesday morning, rain chances. temperatures stay in the 60's after the passage of the weather system. late thursday, we may see another shot of a shower or two. the chances will drop out for next weekend. at least it will be dry. >> now, 11 sports.

rep. late thursday, we might pick up a shower. going into next weekend, cooler, but dr appeared >> that is it for 11 news at 6:00. we will see you back here tonight at 11:00. bob ehrlich says he wants to fix maryland. but he increased state spending by record amounts. ehrlich raised $3 billion in taxes and fees... including property taxes... and a 40% increase in college tuition. and now he's made over $1 billion in new promises... with no plans to pay for them... except for cutting education. cuts that will lay off teachers and increase class sizes. that's not a budget. and bob ehrlich's not the kind of leader... we can trust.
