>> live, local, late-breaking, this is wbal tv-11 news at noon, in hd. >> good afternoon. our big story this noon, a big payday problem involving teachers and administrators. phone calls started coming in this morning after employees learned they did not get their direct deposit today as planned. there was a problem with the bank's file submission that was complicated by yesterday's bank

holiday. an administrator said the problem is being worked on and all employees should be paid by the end of the day today. we will have a follow-up on this story on the news at 6:00. the rank and file have overwhelmingly rejected the last contract offer that would take nearly 2% off of a police salaries, the equivalent of five days of pay. the police union has been without a contract since and june. the rejection of the contract is sending a clear message to the mayor. >> i think tonight it speaks volumes about where we go from here. it speaks volumes about the rejection not only of the last contract, but about the mayor's policy to move forward. stephanie rawlings-blake says

it does when the victim is the husband of the mayor. someone broke into the car of stephanie rawlings-blake's husband. officials say his car was out of their view at the time. >> are you concerned that the have dropped the ball? >> there have been 5000 victims of car break-ins this year. we are doing what we can do to raise awareness. >> police say there was no sign of forced entry on the car. they caution people to keep cars locked with valuables out of sight. a man has been sentenced to prison for sexually abusing a 9- year-old girl. he was sentenced yesterday after pleading guilty to charges of sex abuse with a minor. after serving out his sentence, he will be deported back to mexico.

temperatures around the area. they are climbing into the 50's. we warmed up more quickly this morning then we did yesterday. temperatures are a little bit higher than they were yesterday. yesterday we made it into the low 60's. westminster is 57 degrees. at dwi is up to 61. hagerstown is 52. again, the temperatures are little the warmer. we will warm up a little bit more today. the computer models indicate high is right around 60 degrees and we are in that vicinity now. we will probably add another degree or two between now and two o'clock. look at the maryland, chesapeake bay region from the angle looking at us from the atlantic. everything is stalled out. this storm is spinning through

new england. now is off toward bermuda. it cannot move anywhere. everything is held up. the high pressure is stalled over us. that is what is giving as the really nice weather. in the west, there is a front that is more or less assault -- stalled. it is not surprising to see the snow in the mountains of colorado, but the elevations are lower in the plains and the panhandle. they are getting a mix of precipitation this morning. there is cooler air behind the front. you can see this jet stream pattern. the warm air is what we are enjoying right now. the jet stream is delineating the warm air from the cold air behind it. what is the temperature difference that you see? you can see eric 60's n 70's reaching up into -- you can see reaching up

into new england. in montana, it is in the 40's. we are enjoying the good stuff. it will be 61-66 degrees today for the high. north winds at 5 miles per hour- 10 miles per hour. we have a stall the system to the west with high pressure favoring our weather. by monday, that storm and front will get a lot closer so the chances of rain will increase. we are going to hold on to good weather for the weekend. by the end of the weekend, we start picking up clouds. by monday, tuesday, wednesday, the chilly air temperatures and a chance of rain. >> in today's education alert, detox promises to eliminate
