breaking. this is wbal-tv 11 news at 6:00 p.m. in hd. >> i people under arrest site including three prince george's county police officers. -- in nine people under arrest. this is part of an expanding fbi probe of corruption in prince george's county. >> agents arrested county executive jack johnson and his wife lesley witness and evidence tampering. david collins is back from a late afternoon press conference. >> the charges involved guns, drug trafficking, and intent to distribute and packaged cigarettes and alcohol. the question is whether this is a link to jack johnson. the u.s. attorney will only say they are in connection with a series of related investigations. >> police officers are given badges and guns to prevent crimes. the indictments in these cases

alleging that these three police officers used their badges and guns to commit crimes. >> miron rosenstein had two indictments. the fbi has arrested three prince george's police officers and six other defendants. two officers are charged with extortion. >> the indictment charges agreed that they would pay officers in exchange for using their official authority to assist in the transport and distribution of untaxed cigarettes and alcohol. >> the other police officer braces cocaine and drug charges in connection with drug trafficking. the fbi and irs rated two dozen properties in maryland and northern virginia. authorities are seeking the forfeiture of $3.5 million, 25 properties, 13 vehicles and 84 bank accounts. the fed's contend their proceeds from crimes or were used to

facilitate criminal acts. the question of the day is whether any of this is tied to the rests on friday of prince george's executive jack johnson. >> we have an ongoing series of related investigations in prince george's county. we will not talk about what, if any, and correlation. >> earlier in the day, they declined to discuss legal troubles. >> i cannot comment on the case. >> the fbi took them into custody on charges of witness tampering and destruction of evidence. according to court documents, this is in connection with a four-year long probe about providing things of value to officials in exchange for favors. the indictment does not claim that johnson actually solicited or took bribes, but in court prosecutors say they were not done. >> i am feeling well. my family and i are all uplifted. we are strong. i have had a lot -- thousands of calls from citizens.

[no audio] any comment about your future and what you will do with your council seat? >> the rest of his officers -- the rest of the three officers leaves a nasty taste in his mouth. a local citizens group is pushing for legislation to make it easier to remove elected officials before they are convicted. currently they can only be suspended if they're convicted or enter a plea of no contest. reporting from the newsroom, wbal-tv 11 news.

first-degree murder. >> police say 28-year-old jami melonowski and three others were all killed by her father. their two-year-old son did survive. he is from rikers town and attended franklin high school. >> a controversial skating rink has been shut down while the battles -- while the owners' battle in bankruptcy court. barry simms is live in woodlawn with more on the financial fallout. >> this was a very popular place for skating, live performances, and more. the crowd could be up to 800 people on any given night. the doors are shut and the lights are out. >> welcome to [unintelligible] all skating activities have been

postponed. >> it is shut down due to controversy and financial problems. they are now in bankruptcy court trying to pay creditors who are owed $577,000. a bank trustee wants all of the equipment turned over to the landlord who claims he is owed $136,000 in unpaid rent. >> no complaints in the early days. it was basically just a roller skating operation. >> the former permit director said the financial issues were mounting in the county was weighing how to handle other problems. the rink was expanding bringing in deejays, live entertainment, and larger crowds. they reached a settlement agreement following a shooting in the parking lot. in august, allegations recalled- year-old girl claims she was raped by a man and two teenagers in a storage room. >> we suspended the license as a

result of that incident. we did not terminated. we just suspended pending an investigation. >> in late september, they sent a letter revoking the licenses claiming they violated the summit agreement on the night of the incident by having three off-duty police officers assisting security instead of four. one of the owners declined an on-camera interview telling 11 news to the front door of her home but she is so depressed and did not want to discuss it. she added the county is doing everything they can to destroy it. the council believes they became a victim of their own success. >> basically what has happened, and by the doors are closed today, it is a two-fold. one, we issued a revocation of licence so they could not continue to operate and the bankruptcy court took over the property and had locked the door. >> a meeting is set for december

1st. the trial over rent is set for january 11th. reporting live, barry simms, wbal-tv 11 news. >> the reason number of crimes have students around baltimore on edge. lowell melser is live at loyola in the north baltimore with the very latest. >> police in this city and county say as far as all of these robberies are concerned that they are not related. police say they are crimes of opportunity. it had happened here at loyola essex. in it serves as a reminder for those who use college campuses to be aware of their surroundings. the latest in a string of armed robberies in the area college campuses continued friday morning when two students were robbed at knifepoint on the campus of loyola university maryland it. officials say the attack comes as a surprise. >> it has been years since we

have had a violent crime incidents of our -- on our incident -- a violent incident on our campus. we want to make sure we do everything we can to make sure this does not happen again. >> a student was held in the parking lot of the ccbc-essex campus. council officials declined an on-camera interview. they say they are revving up controls on campus. loyola and ccbc said the same thing. >> incidents like this are rare. >> it appears all of these crimes are isolated incidents. >> baltimore county police say the incidents in the city and county are not related, but they serve as a reminder for students to be careful. they also expressed confidence in the various police departments. >> i think it is a coincidence. it could have happened anywhere.
