distribute untaxed cigarettes and alcohol. two of the officers are charged with extortion. the third faces cocaine and gun charges in connection with drug trafficking. on friday, county executive jack johnson and his wife, leslie, who was just elected to the county council, were arrested on charges of witness tampering and destruction of evidence. but attorneys are keeping mum on whether the johnsons' arrests are related to yesterday's arrests. >> we have ongoing a series of related corruption investigations here in prince george's county. we're not going to talk about what if any connections there might be among these investigations. >> more than two dozen properties were rated. -- raided. >> authorities are also seeking the forfeiture of $3.5 million, 25 properties, 13 vehicles, and 84 bank accounts that are proceeds of crimes or were used to facilitate criminal acts. reporting live in the newsroom,

kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> the man accused of killing an off-duty detective has been indicted. a grand jury indicted the man on first-degree murder and deadly weapons charges. he is accused of throwing a piece of concrete and detective brian stevenson, killing him. he's being held without bail pending an arraignment. an officer has been fired over acquisitions accusations he assisted a drug dealer. he looked up a license plate that turned out to be the core of an undercover agent. that friend was the man indicted on cocaine conspiracy charges. he has not been charged with a crime. he was fired on friday. >> police have arrested two in connection with a shooting. it took place at 2:00 a.m. at

the royal farms store at annapolis road. the victims, a man and woman, are expected to survive. police have arrested the man they said broke into the core of the mayor's husband. police picked up anthony thomas on sunday. he admitted to breaking into the court last thursday and stealing a satellite radio inside. he is now charged with theft because a maryland native has given his life. army specialist david lutes died on thursday, three days after being wounded by an id'd explosion. he was the first -- he was with the first squadron regiment. this was out of fort campbell, kentucky. he is survived by wife and two children. >> controversy is heating up over the federal government's

screening rules. kate amara joins us live with more on how many think those new rules are just too close for comfort. good morning. >> the government is trying to address concern that these full body scanners are just too invasive. ahead of the busy thanksgiving holiday travel season, the tsa is taking heat over new security screening measures. >> behind your hair and do your back. your legs. >> including full-body scanners and pat-downs. >> and now we're deploying them across the united states as the next, really, generation of technology to use to keep our passengers safe. >> but traveler john tyner objected, refused to go through the scanner at the san diego airport last week. >> i turned to him, i looked him in the eye, and said, "if you touch my junk, i will have you arrested." it seems to me it amounts to a sexual assault, and i don't think that should be a condition for getting on the plane. >> critics are concerned the machines emit harmful radiation and violate privacy. one group is calling for a

public boycott of the scanners on the day before thanksgiving. >> even more people are concerned about having their naked bodies witnessed by a tsa agent in a back room who they can't see and they don't know who they are. >> government officials say they are listening to concerns but say the new procedures protect all passengers by protecting against terror threats. >> this is all about making sure that you, your family, and your kids are safe when they travel. >> there are about 300 of these full-body scanners operating at about 60 u.s. airports. the tsa plans to deploy 500 of them by the end of the year. kate amara, wbal-tv 11 news. >> is this just a few outspoken travelers? how does the general public feel? >> there is where a recent gallup poll that asks fliers and

the father and turned the gun on himself. one son survive. the man is from reisterstown. he attended franklin high school. two more democrats have been added to the u.s. senate. koons replaces the opening after biden was inaugurated. robert byrd held the seat since 1959. a vote is still being held in alaska. the latest count shows senator lisa murkowski with a 1700-vote lead over joe miller. miller continues to challenge more that 7600 of those rights in the vote that cannot properly spell murkowski's name. those votes are expected to be counted by the end of the week.

>> facebook has its eye on being more of a one-stop shop for keeping in touch with your friends. they are watching their own e- mail service. they have the ability to send messages. the ceo is introducing a messaging platform. it will create your own facebook e-mail address and merge it with other forms of instant message. it will roll out over the next few months. all eyes will be focused on itunes as apple pulls back the curtain on a rather cryptic teaser. the itunes store posted a message said an important message would be made at 10:00 a.m. this morning. it could be the final word that itunes has their rights to sell the beatles catalog. other robbers focus on a possible streaming version of itunes to be released.

legg mason is bullish on the stock market. bonuses could be coming back to the workplace. jane king has more in the bloomberg business report. >> are you ready to party? some companies did away with parties and free food during the recession. some are starting to bring them back. flextime could be offered along with thanksgiving goodies. microsoft has a new system. it has sold 1 million gaming units in the first 10 days of its release. it is on pace to hit 5 million units by the end of the year. economists predict a rise and it would be a signal of strength in the manufacturing sector. economists are concerned about inflation. they criticized the fed's plan to boost growth.

maryland is now widening. nine people have been arrested. >> this all falls the arrest of the county executive and his wife last friday. kim dacey joins us live in the studio with more on the story. charges are some of the allegations leveled against the prince george's police officers, as u.s. attorney rob rosenstein unsealed two indictments yesterday in an expanding corruption probe of prince george's county government. >> police officers are given badges and guns to prevent crimes. but the indictments in these cases allege that these three police officers used their badges and guns to commit crimes. >> the fbi arrested three prince george's county police officers and six other defendants yesterday. two of the officersr are charged with extortion. >> the indictment charges that these defendants agreed that they would pay police officers

in exchange for using their official authority to assist in the transport and distribution of untaxed cigarettes and alcohol. >> the other officer faces cocaine and gun charges in connection with drug trafficking. the fbi and irs raided more than two dozen properties throughout maryland and in northern virginia. authorities are also seeking the forfeiture of $3.5 million, 25 properties, 13 vehicles, and 84 bank accounts that are proceeds of crimes or were used to facilitate criminal acts. the question is whether any of this is tied to the arrest friday of prince george's county executive jack johnson and his wife, lesley, a newly elected county counsel person. >> we have ongoing right now a series of related corruption investigations in prince george's county. we're not going to talk about what if any connections there might be among these investigations. >> the fbi took the johnsons into custody friday on charges on witness tampering and destruction of evidence. according to federal court
