an f-1 tornado was on the ground for less than a minute, touching down in several locations. the first was a stretch in northeast baltimore city, causing damage and an apartment complex. moments later a shopping center in parkville, leaving another path of destruction about one- third of a mile long and 250 yards wide. in all, about 350 apartments and townhouses, 16 buildings and 54 residential units. hundreds of people are displaced. >> we are now seeing radar image of the tornado. >> this time was a little unique. it is not something that we normally see year. it most of the damage was not caused by the tornado funnel cloud, by the larger thing that recall the macro burst, which is a downpour of horizontal

winds. at 1:35 a.m., in the early morning hours of wednesday it had 100 miles per hour when the estimates by the weather service folks who surveyed the storm. the path was 250 yards wide and less than half a mile long. here is the radar image you referred to this was the doppler radar spinning at that time. it was but of very briefly. but only lasted a minute or two. some downburst winds that occur out of those thunderstorms. it happened right neared baltimore city and baltimore city and county line. then it just kind of disappeared. we have much quieter weather coming at us for the weekend

with sunshine and then, of course, at thanksgiving next week. >> many displaced residents were allowed to return to the side of the storm to assess damage and gather belongings. the officials -- city officials lifted the curfew yesterday. storm victims could return home, literally picking up the pieces as they begin their search for a new place to call home. it took some well into the night. what's my family is ok. i just wanted to make sure my house and everything was ok. >> it was stressful, but i'm dealing with it as it comes. >> so far, the red cross has helped 60 families in getting cleanup for food and places tuesday. no word on how long the temporary shelters will remain open, but the red cross will be

it happened around 1:00 this morning along route 98. the man was pushing his car off of the road on route 295 when he slipped and was hit by the oncoming car. he died at the scene. the driver of the accord did stop, but no word yet on if charges -- the driver of the other car did stop, but no word yet on its charges will be filed. investigators say 36-year-old terrance wilson shot his wife several times before barricading himself inside their home. >> she was actually walking out of the house suffering from those multiple gunshot wounds as officers pulled up. of course, they rendered aid to her and sought to the fact that she was transported to shock trauma. >> authorities entered the home around 1:00 p.m. to find it wilson said. and 8-year-old child had also been inside the home, but

it is not totally overcast. these are thunderclouds. and we have a lot of high pressure. any storm activity trying to move through the great lakes runs into this high and dissipates. we're not looking at storm activity, at least, for the time being. but there's lot of storm activity going out to the west. there is a storm out there, especially in the upper atmosphere and that will be a problem next week. the jet stream is lined up right now i'm pretty much moving west to east and riding high north. some of these warmer temperatures will be coming in. but this big notes -- nosedive in the jet stream will eventually swing into the central part of the nation next week and bring about a change of weather for us and change things from sonny to rainy as we approach thanksgiving. for now, west when that 5 to 10 miles per hour.
